Synergistic protection of Si anode based on multi-dimensional graphitic carbon skeletons

Inspired by the natural corn structure,a Si@hollow graphene shell@graphene(Si@GS@G)anode material was prepared in which silicon nanoparticles were preliminarily anchored onto the surface of an elastic graphene shell and further constrained using graphene sheets.Hollow graphene oxide shells with abundant surficial hydrogen bonds,which were synthesized using a novel bottom-up method,were used as an intermediate material to anchor positively charged silicon nanoparticles via electrostatic attraction and achieve a rational spatial distribution.The inner hollow graphene shell anchorage and outer graphene constraint synergistically constituted a porous and robust conductive corn-like structure.The as-fabricated Si@GS@G anode afforded efficient electron and ion transport pathways and improved structural stability,thereby enhancing Li+storage capability(505 mAh·g^(−1)at 10 A·g^(−1))and extending the lifespan compared to the single hollow graphene shell or graphene sheet-protected Si anode(72%capacity retention after 500 cycles).The improved kinetics of the Si@GS@G anode were investigated using electro impedance spectroscopy,galvanostatic intermittent titration,and pseudocapacitance contribution rate analysis,and the structural evolution was analyzed using ex situ electron microscopy.This study proposes a novel hollow graphene oxide shell as an activated intermediate material for designing a porous electrode structure that facilitates an enhanced electrochemical performance.

Background:The field of personalized medicine has gained increasing attention in cancer care,with the aim of tailoring treatment strategies to individual patients for improved outcomes.Herbal medicine,with its long-standing historical use and extensive bioactive compounds,offers a rich source of potential treatments for various diseases,including cancer.Objective:To provide an overview of the current knowledge and evidence associated with incorporating herbal compounds into precision medicine strategies for cancer diseases.Additionally,to explore the general characteristics of the studies included in the analysis,focusing on their key features and trends.Search strategy:A comprehensive literature search was conducted from multiple online databases,including Pub Med,Scopus,Web of Science,and CINAHL-EBSCO.The search strategy was designed to identify studies related to personalized cancer medicine and herbal interventions.Inclusion criteria:Publications pertaining to cancer research conducted through in vitro,in vivo,and clinical studies,employing natural products were included in this review.Data extraction and analysis:Two review authors independently applied inclusion and inclusion criteria,data extraction,and assessments of methodological quality.The quality assessment and biases of the studies were evaluated based on modified Jadad scales.A detailed quantitative summary of the included studies is presented,providing a comprehensive description of their key features and findings.Results:A total of 121 studies were included in this review for analysis.Some of them were considered as comprehensive experimental investigations both in vitro and in vivo.The majority(n=85)of the studies included in this review were conducted in vitro,with 44 of them specifically investigating the effects of herbal medicine on animal models.Additionally,7 articles with a combined sample size of 31,271 patients,examined the impact of herbal medicine in clinical settings.Conclusion:Personalized medication can optimize the use of herbal m

This paper proposes a robust vector tracking loop structure based on potential bias analysis. The influence of four kinds of biases on the existing two implementations of Vector Tracking Loops(VTLs) is illustrated by theoretical analysis and numerical simulations, and the following findings are obtained. Firstly, the initial user state bias leads to steady navigation solution bias in the relative VTL, while new measurements can eliminate it in the absolute VTL. Secondly, the initial code phase bias is transferred to the following navigation solutions in the relative VTL, while new measurements can eliminate it in the absolute VTL. Thirdly, the user state bias induced by erroneous navigation solution of VTLs can be eliminated by both of the two VTLs. Fourthly,the multipath/NLOS likely affects the two VTLs, and the induced tracking bias in the duration of the multipath/NLOS would decrease the performance of VTLs. Based on the above analysis,a robust VTL structure is proposed, where the absolute VTL is selected for its robustness to the two kinds of initialization biases;meanwhile, the instant bias detection and correction method is used to improve the performance of VTLs in the duration of the multipath/NLOS. Numerical simulations and experimental results verify the effectiveness of the proposed robust VTL structure.

Neurodegeneration is a catastrophic process that develops progressive damage leading to functional andstructural loss of the cells of the nervous system and is among the biggest unavoidable problems of our age.Animalmodels do not reflect the pathophysiology observed in humans due to distinct differences between the neuralpathways,gene expression patterns,neuronal plasticity,and other disease-related mechanisms in animals andhumans.Classical in vitro cell culture models are also not sufficient for pre-clinical drug testing in reflecting thecomplex pathophysiology of neurodegenerative diseases.Today,modern,engineered techniques are applied to developmulticellular,intricate in vitro models and to create the closest microenvironment simulating biological,biochemical,and mechanical characteristics of the in vivo degenerating tissue.In THIS review,the capabilities and shortcomings ofscaffold-based and scaffold-free techniques,organoids,and microfluidic models that best reflect neurodegeneration invitro in the biomimetic framework are discussed.

BACKGROUND The prevalence of non-alcoholic fatty liver(NAFLD)has increased recently.Subjects with NAFLD are known to have higher chance for renal function impairment.Many past studies used traditional multiple linear regression(MLR)to identify risk factors for decreased estimated glomerular filtration rate(eGFR).However,medical research is increasingly relying on emerging machine learning(Mach-L)methods.The present study enrolled healthy women to identify factors affecting eGFR in subjects with and without NAFLD(NAFLD+,NAFLD-)and to rank their importance.AIM To uses three different Mach-L methods to identify key impact factors for eGFR in healthy women with and without NAFLD.METHODS A total of 65535 healthy female study participants were enrolled from the taiwan MJ cohort,accounting for 32 independent variables including demographic,biochemistry and lifestyle parameters(independent variables),while eGFR was used as the dependent variable.Aside from MLR,three Mach-L methods were applied,including stochastic gradient boosting,eXtreme gradient boosting and elastic net.Errors of estimation were used to define method accuracy,where smaller degree of error indicated better model performance.RESULTS Income,albumin,eGFR,High density lipoprotein-Cholesterol,phosphorus,forced expiratory volume in one second(FEV1),and sleep time were all lower in the NAFLD+group,while other factors were all significantly higher except for smoking area.Mach-L had lower estimation errors,thus outperforming MLR.In Model 1,age,uric acid(UA),FEV1,plasma calcium level(Ca),plasma albumin level(Alb)and T-bilirubin were the most important factors in the NAFLD+group,as opposed to age,UA,FEV1,Alb,lactic dehydrogenase(LDH)and Ca for the NAFLD-group.Given the importance percentage was much higher than the 2nd important factor,we built Model 2 by removing age.CONCLUSION The eGFR were lower in the NAFLD+group compared to the NAFLD-group,with age being was the most important impact factor in both groups of healthy Chinese women,followed by LDH,UA,FEV1 and

The use of electrochemical-metallization-based volatile threshold switching selectors in cross-point arrays has been widely explored owing to their high on-off ratios and simple structure.However,these devices are unsuitable for cross-point architectures because of the difficulty in controlling the random filament formation that results in large fluctuations in the threshold voltage during operation.In this study,we investigated the unidirectional threshold transition characteristics associated with an Ag/GST/HfO_(x)/Pt-based bilayer selector and demonstrated the occurrence of a low leakage current(tage(Δ0.11 V).The bilayer structure could control the filament formation in the intermediate state through the insertion of an HfO_(x) tunneling barrier.By stacking a bilayer selector with NiO_(x)based resistive random-access memory,the leakage and programming currents of the device could be significantly decreased.For the crossbar array configuration,we performed equivalent circuit analysis of a one-selector oneresistor(1S1R) devices and estimated the optimal array size to demonstrate the applicability of the proposed structure.The maximum acceptable crossbar array size of the 1S1R device with the Ag/GST/HfO_(x)/Pt/Ti/NiO_(x)/Pt structure was 5.29×10^(14)(N^(2),N=2.3×10^(7)).

BACKGROUND Colorectal foreign bodies are commonly encountered during surgery.They are frequently observed in men 20 to 90 years of age and have bimodal age distribution.Surgical management is necessary for cases of rectal perforation.However,surgical site infections are the most common complications after colorectal surgery.CASE SUMMARY We discuss a case of rectal perforation in a patient who presented to our hospital 2 d after its occurrence.The perforation occurred as a result of the patient inserting a sex toy in his rectum.Severe peritonitis was attributable to delayed presentation.CONCLUSION Vacuum-assisted closure was performed to treat the wound,which healed well after therapy.No complications were noted.

BACKGROUND Appendiceal mucinous neoplasms(AMNs),although not classified as rare,are relatively uncommon tumors most often discovered incidentally during colorectal surgery.Accurate identification of AMNs is difficult due to non-specific sym-ptoms,overlapping tumor markers with other conditions,and the potential for misdiagnosis.This underscores the urgent need for precision in diagnosis to pre-vent severe complications.CASE SUMMARY This case report describes the unexpected discovery and treatment of a low-grade AMN(LAMN)in a 74-year-old man undergoing laparoscopic hemicolectomy for transverse colon adenocarcinoma(AC).Preoperatively,non-specific gastroin-testinal symptoms and elevated tumor markers masked the presence of AMN.The tumor,presumed to be an AMN peritoneal cyst intraoperatively,was con-firmed as LAMN through histopathological examination.The neoplasm exhibited mucin accumulation and a distinct immunohistochemical profile:Positive for Ho-meobox protein CDX-2,Cytokeratin 20,special AT-rich sequence-binding protein 2,and Mucin 2 but negative for cytokeratin 7 and Paired box gene 8.This profile aids in distinguishing appendiceal and ovarian mucinous tumors.Postoperative recovery was uncomplicated,and the patient initiated adjuvant chemotherapy for the colon AC.CONCLUSION This case highlights the diagnostic complexity of AMNs,emphasizing the need for vigilant identification to avert potential complications,such as pseudomyxoma peritonei.
