in line with recent studies,where it has been shown that nanoﬂuids containing graphene have a stronger capacity to boost the heat transfer coefﬁcient with respect to ordinary nanoﬂuids,experiments have been conducted using water with cobalt ferrite/graphene *** particular,a circular channel made of copper subjected to a constant heatﬂux has been *** nanoparticles are sensitive to the presence of a magneticﬁeld,different conditions have been examined,allowing both the strength and the frequency of such aﬁeld to span relatively wide ranges and assuming different concentrations of *** to theﬁndings,the addition of nanoparticles to theﬂuid causes its rotation speed to increase by a factor of two,whereas ultraviolet radiation plays a negligible *** amount of time required to attain the maximum rotation speed of the nanoﬂuid and the Nusselt number have been measured under both constant and alternating magneticﬁelds for a ferroﬂuid with a concentration of 0.5%and atﬂow Reynolds number of 550 and 1750.

Water is essential for the growth period of crops;however,water unavailability badly affects the growth and physiological attributes of crops,which considerably reduced the yield and yield components in ***,a pot experiment was conducted to investigate the effect of foliar phosphorus(P)on morphological,gas exchange,biochemical traits,and phosphorus use efficiency(PUE)of maize(Zea mays L.)hybrids grown under normal as well as water deficit situations at the Department of Agronomy,University of Agriculture Faisalabad,Pakistan in *** different treatments(control and P@8 kg ha^(−1))and four hybrids(Hycorn,31P41,65625,and 32B33)of maize were tested by using a randomized complete block design(RCBD)with three *** showed that the water stress caused a remarkable decline in total soluble protein(9.7%),photosynthetic rate(9.4%)and transpiration rate(13.4%),stomatal conductance(10.2%),and internal CO_(2)rate(20.4%)comparative to well-watered *** increase of 37.1%,36.8%,and 24.5%were recorded for proline,total soluble sugar,and total free amino acid,***,foliar P application minimized the negative impact of drought by improving plant growth,physio-biochemical attributes,and PUE in maize plants under water stress *** the hybrids tested,the hybrid 6525 performed better both under stress and non-stress *** outcomes confirmed that the exogenous application of P improved drought stress tolerance by modulating growth,physio-biochemical attributes,and PUE of maize hybrids.

An Unusual and Fatal Case of Perthes’ Syndrome

Perthes syndrome includes cervical and facial cyanosis, subconjunctival haemorrhage, petechial haemorrhages on the face, neck, and upper chest, secondary to chest compression. We report a clinical case of Perthes’ syndrome in 3-year-old boy victims of chest crush by a tractor. Clinical examination found: a Glasgow score at 13/15, polypnea, tachycardia, hypotension;wound of the occipital scalp, a low abundance of hematuria, deformation of the left lower limb. Body scan: bilateral pneumothorax and pulmonary contusions, left hemothorax;lacerations at the medial and upper renal pole grade iV, a low abundance of retroperitoneal hematoma, fracture of the left femur. Biological assessment showed major metabolic disturbances with severe acute rhabdomyolysis and multi-visceral failure. Without clinical improvement, the patient died after 36 hours of intensive care.

An Evaluation of the Physicochemical, Structural and Morphological Properties of Selected Tropical Wood Species for Possible Utilization in the Wood industry

This work investigated and quantified the physicochemical, structural and morphological properties of four (4) tropical timbers as precursor raw materials for possible utilization in the wood plastic industry. The physicochemical properties of the wood samples such as the bulk and tapped density, moisture content, water absorption capacity at 25°C, volatile content, fixed carbon, ash content, alpha cellulose, hemicellulose, lignin, and extractives contents were determined using standard methods like the European Committee for Standardization and (CEN/TS) and the American Society for Testing Materials (ASTM) standards. The structural and morphological properties of the samples were examined with Fourier infrared Transform (FTiR) spectroscopy and scanning electron microscope (SEM). Results indicated that the bulk density values of the timbers ranged from 0.34 g/cm3 in Brachystegia eurycoma (W3) to 0.47 g/cm3 in Erythrophleum suaveolens (W2), with the other timbers, Nuclea diderichii (W1) and Prosopis africana (W4) having the same bulk density of 0.40 g/cm3. With respect to their moisture content, W2 had the highest value (8.38%) while Nauclea diderrichii had the lowest value (6.52%). The water absorption capacities of the woods studied correlated with the cellulose composition of wood in the order of: W3 > W1 > W4 > W2. The FTiR results showed that W2 and W3 presented a slightly more prominent and broader band than the other woods at 1731 cm-1, in agreement with the higher holocellulose content of these species, while W2 and W4 presented the most prominent peaks indicating higher lignin content than W1 and W3. Proton-pump inhibitors （PPis） are among the most widely used drugs worldwide. PPi use has recently been linked to adverse changes in semen quality in healthy men; however, the effects of PPi use on semen parameters remain largely unknown specifically in cases with male factor infertility. We examined whether PPi use was associated with detrimental effects on semen parameters in a large population of subfertile men. We retrospectively reviewed data from 12 257 subfertile men who had visited our fertility clinic from 2003 to 2013. Patients who reported using any PPis for 〉3 months before semen sample collection were included; 7698 subfertile men taking no medication served as controls. Data were gathered on patient age, medication use, and conventional semen parameters; patients taking any known spermatotoxic medication were excluded. Linear mixed-effect regression models were used to test the effect of PPi use on semen parameters adjusting for age. A total of 248 patients （258 samples） used PPis for at least 3 months before semen collection. in regression models, PPi use （either as the only medication or when used in combination with other nonspermatotoxic medications） was not associated with statistically significant changes in semen parameters. To our knowledge, this is the largest study to compare PPi use with semen parameters in subfertile men. Using PPis was not associated with detrimental effects on semen quality in this retrospective study.

in general,perovskite solar cells(PSC)with a sensitized or thin-film architecture absorb light from a single-side illumination,and carrier separation and transport only take place inside the active layer of the perovskite ***,we demonstrated a dualirradiation PSC system in which light passes through both the fluorinated tin oxide(FTO)side and the Au electrode side,resulting in much faster interfacial charge carrier extraction and transportation than that in a single-irradiation system,in which light passes through from either the FTO or semitransparent Au electrode *** dual-irradiation PSC system with a configuration of FTO/Cl-TiO_(2)/Mp-TiO_(2)/mixed perovskite/spiro-OMeTAD/Au/iTO can form two quasi-interfacial p-n junctions,which occur separately at the interfaces of TiO_(2)/perovskite and perovskite/*** the PSC device was illuminated simultaneously from both the FTO and Au/iTO sides,the PSC achieved a total power conversion efficiency(PCE)as high as 20.1%under high light intensity(1.4 sun),which is higher than PCE(18.4%)of a single-irradiation *** time of flight(TOF)photoconductivity,small perturbation transient photovoltaic(TPV),finite-difference time-domain(FDTD)optical simulations,and dual illumination-sidedependent impedance spectroscopy(iSD-iS)were used to authenticate the presence of two quasi-interfacial p-n junctions in the PSC,creating more charge carriers than only one quasi p-n junction,and thus leading to a fast recombination process.

Renal Manifestations among Adult Sickle Cell Disease Patients: A Single Center Study in Khartoum, Sudan

Sickle Cell Disease (SCD) in adults is one of the causes of renal abnormalities and Chronic Kidney Disease (CKD). in this retrospective study, we explore the renal manifestations among adult SCD patients. The subjects of the study are all adult patients diagnosed with sickle cell anaemia and admitted as to the Academy Charity Teaching Hospital, Khartoum/Sudan during the period (01/01/2015-31/12/2015). All adult SCD patients’ medical files have been reviewed focusing on personal and clinical data in addition to presence or absence of renal manifestations, a total of 51 adult patients with SCD have been admitted to Academy Charity Teaching Hospital, Khartoum/ Sudan. 11 patients have renal manifestations (21.5%). The mean age ± SD of SCD patients with renal manifestations was 20.2 ± 1.9 years, 63.6% were males, the mean Hb level was 6.9 ± 0.99 gm/dl, proteinuria was present among 81.8% of patients, followed by haematuria (36.4%) and End Stage Renal Failure (ESRF) (18.2%). Further prospective studies are needed to explore the renal abnormalities among adult SCD patients.

Physicomechanical Properties of Sustainable Wood Plastic Composites of Tropical Sawdust and Thermoplastic Waste for Possible Utilization in the Wood industry

This work investigated and quantified the physicomechanical properties of flat-pressed wood plastic composites produced with recycled polyethylene terephthalate, recycled polyethylene and sawdust derived from selected tropical timbers, namely, Nauclea diderrichii, Brachystegia eurycoma, Erythrophleum suaveolens and Prosopis africana, for possible utilization in the wood industry. The compounding of the polymer blends of the precursor plastics, namely recycled PET (rPET) and recycled PE (rPE) with the sawdust (SD) from the selected timbers to produce the desired wood rPET/rPE composites was carried out via the flat press method. The characterization of the physicomechanical properties of the wood plastic composites (WPCs) produced, such as the density, hardness, flexural strength, ultimate tensile strength, elongation %, thickness swelling and water absorption capacity was carried out using methods based mainly on the European Committee for Standardization (CEN) and the American Society for Testing Materials (ASTM) standards. The results of the investigation on the resultant composites indicated that changes in the SD content affected the density of flat-pressed WPCs in line with literature. Generally, it was observed that as wood dust increased and PET content decreased, the density of composites decreased with some deviations as expected probably due to the anisotropic nature of the wood fillers. The analysis of variance (ANOVA) revealed that there was a statistically significant variation in the wood composites of Nuclea diderichii based on the physicomechanical values as the p-value (0.020) obtained was less than the critical level of α = 0.05. it was also observed that the composite, Wood 1 Sample 5 (W1S5) which was composed of 40% rPE, 40% rPET and 20% SD (derived from Nuclea diderichii), had the highest percentage elongation (26.84%);the highest flexural strength (14.995 N/mm2) and possibly the least carbon footprint in the env
