Organic light-emitting diode(OLED)fibers with favorable electroluminescence properties and interconnectable pixel configurations have represented the potential for wearable electronic textile ***,the current technology of OLED fiber-based textile displays still leaves to be desired due to several challenges,including limited emission area and lack of encapsulation *** we present a fibrous OLED textile display that can attain a large emission area and long-term stability by implementing addressable networks comprised of integrated phosphorescence OLED fibers and by designing multilayer *** integrated fiber configuration offers decoupled functional fiber surfaces for an interconnectable 1-dimensional OLED pixel array and a data-addressing *** triadic metal/ultrathin oxide/polymer multilayer enables not only the oxygen/water permeation inhibition but also the controllable conductive channels of dielectric *** with reliable bending stability,the long-term operation of OLED textiles in water manifests the feasibility of the present device concept toward water-resistant full-emitting-area fibrous textile displays.

Long-Term Results of Ewing’s Sarcoma—In a Single Institution

Purpose: This study analyzed oncological and functional outcomes of treatment for Ewing’s sarcoma, as well as its significant risk factors through long-term follow up. Objective and Method: Between September 1990 and April 2009, 20 cases that were diagnosed and treated as Ewing’s sarcoma in Kosin University Gospel Hospital were entered onto the study. Mean follow-up period was 45.4 (12 - 108) months. There were 7 cases of male and 13 cases of female, and mean age was 19.9 (5 - 48) years old. Retrospective review was done about treatment outcomes, complications, and significant risk factors. Results: In terms of oncologic results, there were 9 cases of CDF (continuous disease free), 1 case of NED (no evidence of disease), 4 cases of AWD (alive with disease), 5 cases of DOD (dead of disease), and 1 case of DWOD (dead with other disease). Five-year overall survival rate of all the patients was 70.0% and event-free survival rate was 50.0%. The mean MSTS (Musculoskeletal Tumor Society) score was 15.9 (53%) points at last follow-up. Among prognostic factors of age at diagnosis, Enneking stage, size of tumor, site of primary lesion, and distant metastasis, 5-year survival rate of groups without metastasis were 90.9%, nevertheless 44.4% in other group with the metastasis showing statistical significance (p = 0.020). Postoperative complications were 3 cases of infection, each 2 cases of ankylosis and metal failure, and each 1 case of leg length discrepancy, periprosthetic fracture, and local recurrence. Conclusion: Five-year survival rate of this study was similar to that of multicenter studies in America and Europe. Among the prognostic factors, distant metastasis was proven to be most significant. Enneking stage, size of tumor and site of primary lesion are also important and could be statistically significant if with more cases.

Background Recent studies have reported overall increasing rates of syphilis with a high rate of human immunodeficiency virus （HIV） co-infection. However, there is little information about factors influencing syphilis treatment failure and/or re-infection in HIV co-infected patients. We conducted a study to evaluate factors associated with syphilis treatment failure/re-infection in HIV co-infected *** We reviewed 3542 medical records of HIV-infected patients from January 2005 to December 2007 followed up at HIV Clinic in New York City. Patients were categorized by rapid plasma regain titer （RPR） into success/serofast （4-fold decrease in RPR by 12 months after treatment, RPR conversion to nonreactive, persistently stable reactive RPR with no 4-fold increase）, and failure/re-infection （failure to decrease 4 folds in RPR by 12 months after treatment, 4-fold increase in RPR from baseline）.Results Among a total of 156 patients who met the eligibility criteria, 122 （78.2％） were under success/serofast category,and 34 （21.8％） were under failure/re-infection category. HIV viral load, CD4 cell count, and use of highly active antiretroviral therapy （HAART） were not associated with syphilis treatment failure/re-infection. However, early syphilis stage （OR：11.036, 95％ CI： 2.499-48.740, P=0.002） and high （＞1∶64） RPR titers （OR： 715.921, 95％ CI： 422.175-23 113.396, P ＜0.001） were significantly *** No correlations were seen with depressed immune states with syphilis treatment failure and/or re-infection. However, association with early stage syphilis suggests that risky psychological sexual behaviors may be the most important leading factor, emphasizing needs for safe sex education.

The multidisciplinary space environment,encompassing orbital debris,cosmic radiation,and solar radiative heat,poses significant risks to spacecraft and astronauts,necessitating efficient and effective shielding solutions.A multi-layer shield with wide spacing has been proven to be an effective way to shield the spacecraft from space debris impact;however,due to the limited volume of the payload fairing,it was not feasible to apply a multi-layer shield to the spacecraft *** the origami design,the shield maintains a compact form during launch and subsequently expands in outer space to enhance *** geometric analysis,it has been confirmed that the deployable multi-layer space shield can occupy less space than conventional space shield structures while expanding into wider shield intervals and multiple *** hypervelocity impact experiments,it was confirmed that as the bumper spacing of the multi-layer space shield expands,its ballistic performance becomes superior to conventional space *** deployable multi-layer space shield can reduce not only hypervelocity impacts but also solar radiative heat using the same mechanism as multi-layer *** cosmic radiation dose analysis,it has been confirmed that the multi-layer space shield is effective in cosmic radiation shielding compared to conventional space structures.

BACKGROUND: Although perioperative portal vein (PV) stent implantation is an effective treatment for steno-occlusive disease in adult living donor liver transplantation (LDLT) re-cipients, we experienced high incidence of biliary anastomotic strictures (BAS) after PV stenting. In this study, we sought to clarify the relation between BAS and PV stenting and to suggest the possible mechanism of BAS and measures to reduce its in-cidence. METHODS: We retrospectively analyzed 44 LDLT recipients who underwent PV stent implantation across the line of PV anastomosis regardless of the location of steno-occlusion (stent group) and their matched controls (non-stented LDLT recipients, n=131). RESULTS: The incidence of BAS was higher in patients in the stent group than that in the control group (43.2% vs 17.6%, P=0.001). Cumulative 6-month and 1-, 2- and 5-year BAS rates were 31.8%, 34.1%, 41.4% and 43.2%, respectively, in the stent group and 13.0%, 13.8%, 16.1% and 17.8%, respectively, in the control group (P=0.001). Multivariate analysis revealed that PV stenting was an independent risk factor for BAS. CONCLUSIONS: Although PV stent implantation is a reliable treatment modality for steno-occlusive PV in adult LDLT recipients, innovative methods to prevent the PV stent from crossing the line of PV anastomosis may be necessary to reduce the incidence of postoperative BAS.

Aim:This study aims to characterize the effects of elastic facelifts using the elasticum suspension technique on the cervical angle and anthropometric ***:Forty-six patients underwent *** 4-5 mm incisions a few centimetres apart were made at *** blunt dissection,the deep temporal fascia was *** elastic thread(Elasticum®)was anchored to this fascia.A 1.0 cm incision was made just in front of the *** elastic thread was anchored to the tympanoparotid *** needle was passed under the skin surface,as determined by the depth mark of the needle along the cervicomandibular angle,and the elastic threads were looped around the contralateral tympanoparotid *** lateral photographs were taken and ***:The elasticum suspension significantly decreased the cervical angle(P<0.001,-5.5±9.8%).This procedure significantly decreased the distance from the gonion-gnathion to the labiale inferioris(Gn-Li)(P<0.001,-18.4±25.5%).The ratio of the distance from Gn to the cervical point(Gn-C)to Gn-Li increased significantly(P<0.001,62.8±85.8%)and the ratio of the distance from C to the visible thyroid cartilage(C-T)to Gn-C decreased significantly(P=0.007,-7.1±45.2%).Conclusion:Elasticum suspension may be a satisfactory minimally invasive method for facelifts,brow lifts,and neck lifts.

In order to flower in the appropriate season,plants monitor light and temperature changes and alter downstream pathways that regulate florigen genes such as Arabidopsis(Arabidopsis thaliana)FLOWERING LOCUS T(FT).In Arabidopsis,FT messenger RNA levels peak in the morning and evening under natural long-day conditions(LDs).However,the regulatory mechanisms governing morning FT induction remain poorly *** morning FT peak is absent in typical laboratory LDs characterized by high red:far-red light(R:FR)ratios and constant ***,we demonstrate that ZEITLUPE(ZTL)interacts with the FT repressors TARGET OF EATs(TOEs),thereby repressing morning FT expression in natural *** LDs with simulated sunlight(R:FR=1.0)and daily temperature cycles,which are natural LD-mimicking environmental conditions,FT transcript levels in the ztl mutant were high specifically in the morning,a pattern that was mirrored in the toe1 toe2 double *** night-to-morning temperatures increased the inhibitory effect of ZTL on morning FT expression by increasing ZTL protein levels early in the ***-red light counteracted ZTL activity by decreasing its abundance(possibly via phytochrome A(phyA))while increasing GIGANTEA(GI)levels and negatively affecting the formation of the ZTL-GI complex in the ***,the phyA-mediated high-irradiance response and GI play pivotal roles in morning FT *** findings suggest that the delicate balance between low temperature-mediated ZTL activity and the far-red light-mediated functions of phyA and GI offers plants flexibility in fine-tuning their flowering time by controlling FT expression in the morning.
