We report a case of.intravenous(IV) amiodarone drug induced liver injury(DILI).The patient received IV N-acetylcysteine(NAC) which resulted in a rapid improvement in liver *** the specif.c mechanisms f.r the pathogenesis of.IV amiodaroneDILI and the therapeutic action of.IV NAC are both unknown, this case strongly implies at least some *** IV amiodarone is indicated f.r the treatment of.serious cardiac arrhythmias in an intensive care unit setting, some degree of.ischemic hepatitis is likely a cof.ctor in most cases.

Allergy to sesame seeds is a f.od allergy of.high relevance due to its high abundance and the potential to elicit allergenic reactions,possibly resulting in *** major sesame allergen Ses i 1 is a 2S albumin belonging to the f.mily of.seed storage proteins and despite its high allergenicity,comprehensive knowledge about Ses i 1 variants is still ***,theref.re,perf.rmed a detailed sequence analysis and characterized the C-and N-terminal ragged clipping of.the small and large subunit of.Ses i 1 using high-resolution mass spectrometry and the combination of.bottom–up,middle–down,and top–down proteomic *** detected extensive clipping at the C-terminus of.the large(3–9 aa)and the small subunit(0–7 aa).In addition,the N-terminal conversion f.om glutamine to pyroglutamate and limited N-terminal clipping was conf.rmed f.r both ***,we observed a sequence conf.ict at position 147 of.Ses i 1 as well as a sequence shif. of.the large subunit compared to the ref.rence sequence of.the precursor.

Gastric cancer(GC) is the f.urth most common cancer worldwide and ranks second in global cancer mortality statistics. Perioperative chemotherapy plays an important role in the management and treatment of.advanced stage disease. However,response to chemotherapy varies widely,with some patients presenting no or only minor response to treatment. Hence,chemotherapy resistance is a major clinical problem that impacts on outcome. Unf.rtunately,to date there are no reliable biomarkers available that predict response to chemotherapy bef.re the start of.the treatment,or that allow modif.cation of.chemotherapy resistance. MicroRNAs(miRNAs) could provide an answer to this problem. miRNAs are involved in the initiation and progression of.a variety of.cancer types,and there is evidence that miRNAs impact on resistance towards chemotherapeutic drugs as well. This current review aims to provide an overview about the potential clinical applicability of.miRNAs as biomarkers f.r chemoresistance in *** authors f.cus in this context on the potential of.miRNAs to predict sensitivity towards dif.erent chemotherapeutics,and on the potential of.miRNAs to modulate sensitivity and resistance towards chemotherapy in GC.

Pharmacological evaluation of.NSAID-induced gastropathy as a “Translatable” model of.ref.rred visceral sensitivity

AIM To evaluate whether non-steroidal anti-inf.ammatory drugs(NSAIDs)-induced gastropathy is a clinically predictive model of.ref.rred visceral *** Gastric ulcer pain was induced by the oral administration of.indomethacin to male,CD1 mice(n = 10/group) and then assessed by measuring ref.rred abdominal hypersensitivity to tactile application. A diverse range of.pharmacological mechanisms contributing to the pain were subsequently investigated. These mechanisms included: transient receptor potential(TRP),sodium and acid-sensing ion channels(ASICs) as well as opioid receptors and guanylate cyclase C(GC-C). RESULTS Results showed that two opioids and a GC-C agonist,morphine,asimadoline and linaclotide,respectively,the TRP antagonists,AMG9810 and HC-030031 and the sodium channel blocker,carbamazepine,elicited a dose-and/or time-dependent attenuation of.ref.rred visceral hypersensitivity,while the ASIC blocker,amiloride,was inef.ective at all doses tested. CONCLUSION Together,these f.ndings implicate opioid receptors,GC-C,and sodium and TRP channel activation as possible mechanisms associated with visceral hypersensitivity. More importantly,these f.ndings also validate NSAID-induced gastropathy as a sensitive and clinically predictive mouse model suitable f.r assessing novel molecules with potential pain-attenuating properties.

This study was carried out to analyze the spectral ref.ectance response of.dif.erent nitrogen levels f.r corn *** dif.erent nitrogen treatments of.0%,80%,100%and 120%BMP(best management practice)were *** component analysis-loading(PCA-loading)was used to identif. the ef.ective *** least squares(PLS)and multiple linear regression(MLR)models were built to predict dif.erent nitrogen *** indices(VIs)were calculated and then used to build more prediction *** f.ll and selected wavelengths-based models showed similar prediction *** overall PLS model obtained the coef.icient of.determination(R^(2))of.0.6535 with a root mean square error(RMSE)of.0.2681 in the prediction *** selected wavelengths f.r overall MLR model obtained the R^(2) of.0.6735 and RMSE of.0.3457 in the prediction *** results showed that the wavelengths in visible and near inf.ared region(350-1000 nm)perf.rmed better than the two either spectral regions(1001-1350/1425-1800 nm and 2000-2400 nm).f.r each data set,the wavelengths around 555 nm and 730 nm were identif.ed to be the most important to predict nitrogen *** vogelmann red edge index 2(VOG 2)perf.rmed the best among all *** demonstrated that spectral ref.ectance has the potential to be used f.r analyzing nitrogen response in corn.

BACKGROUND Aortic arch stenting is continuously emerging as a saf. and ef.ective option to alleviate aortic arch stenosis and arterial *** SUMMARY We present a 15-year-old girl with aortic arch hypoplasia who had undergone implantation of.an uncovered 22 mm Cheatham-Platinum stent due to severe(native)aortic arch *** f.llow-up seven months later,she presented a signif.cant re-stenosis of.the aortic arch.A second stent(LD Max 26 mm)was implanted and both stents were dilated up to 16 *** an initially unremarkable post-interventional course,the patient presented with hoarseness f.ve days af.er the *** and CT scans ruled out an intracranial pathology,as well as thoracic hematoma,arterial dissection,and aneurysm around the intervention *** conf.rmed lef. vocal f.ld paresis attributable to an injury to the lef. recurrent laryngeal nerve(LRLN)during aortic arch stenting,as the nerve loops around the aortic arch in close proximity to the area of.the implanted *** a non-invasive therapeutic approach entailing regular speech therapy,the patient recovered and demonstrated no residual clinical symptoms of.LRLN palsy af.er six *** Lef. recurrent laryngeal nerve palsy is a rare complication of.aortic arch stenting not previously reported.

AIM To compare prognostic relevance of.postoperative tumour/node/metastasis(TMN) stages between patients with and without neoadjuvant treatment. METHODS Data f.om patients with adenocarcinoma of.the gastrooesophageal junction(AEG) who had undergone surgical resection at a single German university centre were retrospectively analysed. Patients with or without neoadjuvant preoperative treatment were selected by exact matching based on preoperative staging. Standard assessment of.preoperative(c)TNM stage was based on endoscopic ultrasound and computed tomography of.the thorax and abdomen, according to the American Joint Committee on Cancer/Union f.r International Cancer Control classif.cation system. Patients with cT1cN0cM0 and cT2cN0cM0 stages were excluded f.om the study, as these patients are generally not recommended f.r pretreatment. Longterm survival among the various postoperative TNM stages was compared between the groups of.patients with or without neoadjuvant treatment. f.r statistical assessments, a P-value of.≤ 0.05 was considered *** The study included a total of.174 patients. The group of.patients who had received preoperative neoadjuvant treatment included more cases of.AEG(Siewert) type 1 carcinoma(P f.rmed more f.equently among these patients(P f.patients with preoperative neoadjuvant treatment presented a higher rate of.preoperative N-positive disease(P = 0.020). Overall long-term survival was not dif.erent between the two groups of.patients according to tumours of.dif.erent AEG classif.cations, receipt of.oesophagectomy or gastrectomy, nor between patients with similar postoperative TNM stage, resection margin and grading. However, an improvement of.long-term survival was f.und f.r patients with nodal down-staging af.er neoadjuvant therapy(P = 0.053).CONCLUSI
