In this study,phenolic profile of Allium scorodoprasum *** and its bioactivity in multiway approach including antioxidant,antimicrobial,antidiabetic,cytotoxic and antiinflamatory activities were *** extraction of phenolic and flavonoid compounds from Allium scorodoprasum *** was optimized as a function of ethanol percentage,extraction temperature and extraction time by employing a response surface *** optimal extraction conditions were found as 79℃extraction temperature,28%ethanol and 118 min duration of the *** was determined as the major phenolic compound of the extract obtained under the optimal conditions and followed by vanillic,caffeic,2,4 hydroxybenzoic and ellagic *** addition to high antioxidant capacity,the obtained extract showed antimicrobial activity,against different bacteria and *** concentrations of the extract obtained at the optimal conditions that inhibited 50%of Aspergillus oryzae and pancreaticα-amylases andα-glycosidase activities were calculated as 11.56,14.35 and 19.35 mg extract/mL,*** antiinflammatory effect of the obtained extract was also examined,and it was more inhibitory against xanthine oxidase activity than against lipoxygenase *** cytotoxicity of the optimized extract was observed against breast and bone cancer cells,and it showed significant cytotoxic activity especially on bone cancer *** a result,Allium scorodoprasum *** could serve as a promising source of natural bioactive compounds for application in food and non-food products.

In this investigation,the structural and electrical properties of nanocomposites of polyaniline(PANI) and cobalt ferrite synthesized by hydrothermal route are reported for the first time(with weight ratios of CoFe_2O_4/PANI 1:2 and 2:1).Synthesized nanomaterials have been characterized by XRD,FT-IR,SEM and TEM ***-IR results confirm the presence of CoFe_2O_4 and PANI in the *** detailed conductivity measurements have been *** has been found that PANI has a more effective conducting mechanism in CoFe_2O_4-PANI *** results are also consistent with the change in AC conductivity orders in composites.

Acute appendicitis presenting with abdominal wall and right groin abscess:A case report

We report a case of right lower abdominal wall and groin abscess resulting from acute appendicitis. The patient was an 27-year-old man who had no apparent abdominal signs and was brought to the hospital due to progressive painful swelling of right lower abdomen and the groin for 10 d. Significant inflammatory changes of soft tissue involving the right lower trunk were noted without any apparent signs of peritonitis. Laboratory results revealed leukocytosis. Abdominal ultrasonography described the presence of abscess at right inguinal site also communicating with the intraabdominal region. Right inguinal exploration and laparotomy were performed and about 250 mL of pus was drained from the subcutaneous tissue and preperitoneal space. No collection of pus was found intraabdominally and subserous acute appendicitis was the cause of the abscess. The patient fully recovered at the end of the second post-operation week. This case reminds us that acute appendicitis may have an atypical clinical presentation and should be treated carefully on an emergency basis to avoid serious complications.

Energy use efficiency and greenhouse gas emissions(GHG)analysis of garlic cultivation in Turkey

This study has been conducted with the purpose of determining energy use efficiency and greenhouse gas emissions of garlic cultivation during the 2020-2021 cultivation season in Adıyaman province of ***,observations and field works were performed in 134 garlic farms in the region through simple random *** garlic cultivation,energy input was calculated as 32103.20 MJ/hm^(2)and energy output was calculated as 30096 MJ/hm^(2).With regards to the three highest inputs in garlic production,46.66%of the energy inputs consisted of chemical fertilizers energy(14979.26 MJ/hm^(2)),11.29%consisted of farmyard manure energy(3625.71 MJ/hm^(2))and 10.48%consisted of human labour energy(3363.36 MJ/hm^(2)).Energy use efficiency,specific energy,energy productivity and net energy in garlic cultivation were calculated as 0.94,1.71 MJ/kg,0.59 kg/MJ,and−2007.20 MJ/hm^(2),*** total energy input consumed in garlic cultivation was classified as 27.19%direct energy,72.81%indirect energy,35.17%renewable energy and 64.87%nonrenewable *** GHG emissions and GHG ratio were calculated as 8636.60 kg CO_(2)-eq/hm^(2)and 0.46 kg CO_(2)-eq/kg,respectively.

Pseudoxantoma elasticum,as a repetitive upper gastrointestinal hemorrhage cause in a pregnant woman

Pseudoxantoma elasticum is a rare, hereditary, multisystemic disease affecting the skin, eye, and cardiovascular system. A twenty-eight-year-old female has presented to emergency unit with the complaint of gastrointestinal hemorrhage. This patient, who had been monitored in the gastroenterology clinic more than 10 times in the past 8 years, noted a repetitive hemorrhage during her previous pregnancy in her history. The examination of the patient revealed the following signs and symptoms： atrophy in the epithelium of the retina pigment; typical angioid streaks and peau d＇orange finding in the fundus; thinning of the retinal nerve fiber in OCT （optic coherence tomography）; bilateral and reticular papillary lesions with yellowish- color in the neck region （plucked chicken appearance）; presence of bleeding loci in fundus, and nephrocalcinosis in kidneys. In light of these symptoms, the patient was diagnosed with pseudoxantoma elasticum. Skin biopsy confirmed the pseudoxantoma elasticum diagnose. PXE is an uncommon, hereditary disease. Early diagnosis of pseudoxantoma elasticum cases, is important for minimalizing systemic complications and informing the other family members through genetic counseling.

The application of polymers to replace oleylamine(OLA)and oleic acid(OA)as ligands for perovskite nanocrystals is an effective strategy to improve their stability and durability especially for the solution-based ***,we report a mechanosynthesis of lead bromide perovskite nanoparticles(NPs)stabilized by partially hydrolyzed poly(methyl methacrylate)(h-PMMA)and highmolecular-weight highly-branched poly(ethylenimine)(PEI-25K).The as-synthesized NP solutions exhibited green emission centered at 516 nm,possessing a narrow full-width at half-maximum of 17 nm and as high photoluminescence quantum yield(PL QY)as 85%,while showing excellent durability and resistance to polar solvents,e.g.,*** colloids of polymer-stabilized NPs were directly processable toform stable and strongly-emitting thin films and solids,making them attractive as gain ***,the roles of h-PMMA and PEI-25K in the grinding process were studied in *** h-PMMA can form micelles in the grinding solvent of dichloromethane to act as size-regulating templates for the growth of *** PEI-25K with large amounts of amino groups induced significant enrichment of PbBr_(2)in the reaction mixture,which in turn caused the formation of CsPb_(2)Br_(5)-mPbBr_(2)and CsPbBr_(3)-Cs_(4)PbBr_(6)-nCsBr *** presence of CsPbBr_(3)-Cs_(4)PbBr_(6)-nCsBr NPs was responsible for the high PL QY,as the Cs_(4)PbBr_(6)phase with a wide energy bandgap can passivate the surface defects of the CsPbBr_(3)*** work describes a direct and facile mechanosynthesis of polymer-coordinated perovskite NPs and promotes in-depth understanding of the formation and phase conversion for perovskite NPs in the grinding process.

Characterizing gastrointestinal stromal tumors and evaluating neoadjuvant imatinib by sequencing of endoscopic ultrasound-biopsies

AIM To evaluate endoscopic ultrasound(EUS)-guided biopsies for the pretreatment characterization of gastrointestinal stromal tumors(GIST) to personalize the management of *** All patients with lesions suspected to be GIST who were referred for EUS-sampling at a tertiary Swedish center were eligible for inclusion 2006-2015. During the observational study phase(2006-2011), routine fine-needle-aspiration(EUS-FNA) was *** 2012-2015, we converted to an interventional, randomized protocol with dual sampling EUS-FNA and fine-needle-biopsy-sampling(EUS-FNB) for all lesions. c-KIT-and DOG-1-immunostaining was attempted in all samples and a manual count of the Ki-67-index was performed. FNB-sampled tissue and the resected specimens were subjected to Sanger sequencing of the KIT and platelet-derived growth factor alpha(PDGFRA) genes. RESULTS In all, 64 unique patients with GIST were included, and of these, 38 were subjected to pretreatment dual sampling. EUS-FNB had a higher diagnostic sensitivity when compared head-to-head with EUS-FNA(98% vs 58%, P < 0.001) and was more adequate for Ki-67-indexing(Ki-67EUS)(92% vs 40%, P < 0.001). Sequencing of EUS-biopsies was successful in 43/44(98%) patients, and the mutation profiles(KIT-mutation 73%, PDGFRA-mutation 18%, wild-type 7%) were fully congruent with those detected in the corresponding resected specimens. In imatinib-na?ve patients, the Ki-67_(EUS) was comparable with the Ki-67-index in the corresponding surgical specimens(Ki-67_(SURG))(2.7% vs 2.9%, P = 0.68). In patients treated with neoadjuvant imatinib who also carried mutations indicating sensitivity, the Ki-67 EUS was higher than the Ki-67_(SURG)(2.5% vs 0.2%, P = 0.005), with a significant reduction in the Ki-67-index of-91.5%(95%CI:-82.4 to-96.0, P = 0.005). Interaction between seed size and NaCl on germination and early seedling growth of some Turkish cultivars of chickpea(Cicer arietinum L.)

Chickpea is an important food legume crop of Turkey and is largely grown for human consumption on low moisture or salt-affected soils. The objective of the study was to find the effects of NaCl stress at electrical conductivities of 4.5, 8.6, 12.7 and 16.3 dS/m and seed sizes （7, 8 and 9 mm） on germination and early seedling growth of three popular chickpea cultivars （AKN-97, Gokce and Uzunlu-99）. Mean frequency of germination, germination time, germination index, root length, shoot length and seedling fresh weight showed seed size-dependent responses ofcultivars to salt stress. In general, small seeds germinated and grew more rapidly compared to medium and large seeds of the same cultivars against all levels of salt stress, with the best results in cultivar Uzunlu-99. No effect of NaCl treatments was observed on frequency of germination; however, a drastic decrease in early seedling growth was recorded at increased NaC1 concentrations. Regression analysis results showed a significantly positive relationship （P〈0.01） between seed size and mean germination time, whereas a significantly negative relationship was recorded between seed size and germination index, root length, shoot length. Moreover, linear regression values apparently confirmed that increased seed size in each cultivar affected decreased germination index, root and shoot lengths with enhanced mean germination time. Thus, it was concluded that the use of small seeds could considerably reduce the production costs of chickpea in salt-affected soils.

Total estimated effective doses from radiologic imaging modalities of children with cancer:a single center experience

Background:Recently,awareness of the cumulative radiation exposure for pediatric oncology patients has been increasing,together with increased survival rates and longer life *** aim of our study was to quantify the amount of ionising radiation from imaging modalities of pediatric oncology ***:Eighty-eight patients who were diagnosed with childhood cancer and followed up for 5 years between 2004-2014 in our center were included in the ***' medical files were reviewed retrospectively for imaging history in the first 5 years after *** estimated effective doses from radiologic imaging modalities were ***,the basic demographic data,histologic type,stage,and outcomes of disease were collected for all ***:The individual total estimated effective doses ranged from 8.73 to 167 mSv,with a median of 62.92 *** tomography was the greatest contributor of total effective *** doses ranged 21.45-113.20 mSv (median:62.92 mSv) in Hodgkin lymphoma,12.53-167.10 mSv (median:52 mSv) in non-Hodgkin lymphoma,4.13-172.98 mSv (median:52 mSv) in neuroblastoma,31-149.89 mSv (median:63.10 mSv) in Wilms' tumor,11.50-73.72 mSv (median:36.90 mSv) in germ cell tumor,26.46-125.86 mSv (median:80.90 mSv) in other solid tumor and 0.02-13.31 mSv (5.25 mSv) in brain tumor ***-two children (25%) died with progressive disease during the 5-year follow-up ***:Similar to previous studies,the total estimated effective doses in children with cancer have been found various according to diagnosis,stage and clinical *** clarify the harmfull effects of radiation burden,prospective studies should be conducted in children with cancer.

Characterization and Desulfurization Possibilities of High Sulfur Gediz-Turkey Coal

Coal is one of the important energy sources, but it causes serious environmental problems such as air pollution, acid rain and greenhouse effects. Sulfur in coal is one of the responsibilities of these negative effects. Coal includes two types of sulfur： organic and inorganic. While inorganic sulfur can be completely removed with physical desulfurization methods, organic sulfur can be removed only by chemical desulfurization methods. But chemical methods are not only expensive but also difficult processes. Firstly in desulfurization, types of the sulfur content in coal should be well characterized. High sulfur Gediz-Turkey coal has been chosen to this study. This coal basin is located in the centre of the Turkey. In this study, characterization and desulfurization possibilities of high sulfur Gediz coal were investigated. For this purpose, several physical and chemical characterization methods such as proximate and ultimate coal analysis （ash, calorific value, volatile matter, moisture and sulfur analysis）, mineralogical and petrographic analysis, fourier transform infrared spectroscopy, scanning electron microscope were used. Results of these analysis are shown that Gediz coals include 3.15% pyritic sulfur and 2.89% organic sulfur. Removing pyritic sulfur from Gediz-Turkey coal with physical methods such as gravity and sink-float separation is not possible because pyrite particle has 1-2 micron liberation size in coal.
