Stress enhances expression of calcium-binding proteins and nMDAR subunit genes in the rat hippocampus

Backgrounds:Oxidative stress impairs the function of calcium-binding proteins and deregulates calcium signaling in living *** have previously explored the overexpression of calcium-binding protein genes in a reactive oxygen and nitrogen species-induced in vitro cell model of stress that leads to ***,in in vivo models,low levels of stress leads to depressive-like ***,we aimed to analyze gene expression of major calcium-binding proteins(calcineurin,calmodulin,calsyntenin,synaptotagmin,and calreticulin)and n-methyl-D-aspartic acid(nMDA)receptor subunits(glutamate receptor ionotropic[Glun]Glun1,Glun2A,and Glun2B)in the hippocampus of stress-induced ***:Six-week-old male Wistar rats were assigned to two stress induction groups and a control group without stress(n=6).Stress was induced by using H_(2)O_(2)(3%in water)or by immobilization(using a sticky mat)over a period of 30 *** of calcium-binding protein genes in the hippocampus,antioxidant assays,structural alterations in hippocampal neurons,and depressive-like behavior were ***:Expression of genes encoding calcium-binding proteins calcineurin,calsyntenin,synaptotagmin and nMDA receptor subunit Glun1 was enhanced in both chemical and physical stress-induced rats compared with control rats(4.25±0.05 vs.1.03±0.02,pnduced rats,neurons in the CA2 region of the hippocampus were fewer and appeared disorganized compared with control ***,stressinduced rats showed decreased mobility and lower sucrose preference in behavioral studies compared with control ***:Lower levels of reactive oxygen and nitrogen species(ROnS)can also lead to stress in rats by affecting their calcium signaling,buffering capacity in the neurons leading to depressive symptoms.

Purpose： To evaluate the functional and radiological outcome of comminuted radial head fractures, which were not amenable for classical open reduction with internal fixation, treated by on-table reconstruction and fixation using low profile plates. Methods： We reviewed 6 patients of Mason type Ill radial head fractures treated by on-table recon- struction technique between 2011 and 2013. There were 5 men and 1 woman with a mean age of 35 years （range 25-46 years）. All surgeries were carried out at our tertiary care level 1 trauma centre within a mean of 3 days （range 1-8 days） from date of injury using on-table reconstruction technique. The functional outcome was measured using elbow functional rating index described by Broberg and Morrey and the patient-based Disabilities of the Arm, Shoulder and Hand （DASH） outcome measure. Results： The mean follow-up period was 25 months, The average elbow flexion was 135~ （range 125~ -140~） and the average flexion contracture was 5~ （range 0-10~）. The average supination and pronation was 75~ （range ？0o-80~） and 70~ （range 65^-82~） respectively. According to Broberg and Morrey scoring system, the average score was 90 points （range 75-100）. The mean DASH score was 2.49 points, Conclusion： On-table reconstruction and fixation of comminuted radial head fractures using low profile plates is a reasonable option. The reconstructed radial head acts as spacer and provides reasonably good results and no surgical intervention is required for asymptomatic nonunion of these fractures regardless of the radiological findings.

Purpose: Road traffic accidents (RTAs) are a public health issue and cost a lot to individuals, families, communities and nations. Trauma care systems in India are at a nascent stage of development. There is gross disparity between trauma services available in various parts of the country. Rural area in India has inefficient services for trauma care, due to the varied topography, financial constraints, and lack of appropriate health infrastructure. The present study is to study the trends of occurrence of RTA cases by month, week and time of accident occurrence as well as to research the types of vehicle involved in accidents and other various risk factors related to ***: During 1st January 2017 to 31st December 2017, a hospital-based and cross-sectional study of RTA victims was conducted. The patients were admitted in emergency department of Uttar Pradesh University of Medical Sciences, Saifai, Etawah, when stabilized, they were shifted to the orthopaedics and surgery ***: In the study, 654 road accident victims were included, of which the majority were males (77.5%) and the most of them belonged to rural (67%). RTA victims according to the month of occurrence majority were found in January (12.5%) and evening was time of a day with maximum accidents (32.1%). Mortality cases of RTA victims based on type of road user and it shows decreasing trend of mortality of motor-cyclists (54.2%) followed by pedestrian (25.1%).Conclusion: There should be control over people driving vehicles under the influence of alcohol and drivers over-speeding and rash driving on urban roads as well as rural village roads.

A non-autonomous complex Ginzburg-Landau equation （CGLE） for the finite amplitude of convection is derived, and a method is presented here to determine the amplitude of this convection with a weakly nonlinear thermal instability for an oscillatory mode under throughflow and gravity modulation. Only infinitesimal disturbances are considered. The disturbances in velocity, temperature, and solutal fields are treated by a perturbation expansion in powers of the amplitude of the applied gravity field. Throughfiow can stabilize or destabilize the system for stress free and isothermal boundary conditions. The nusselt and Sherwood numbers are obtained numerically to present the results of heat and mass transfer. It is found that throughfiow and gravity modulation can be used alternately to heat and mass transfer. Further, oscillatory flow, rather than stationary flow, enhances heat and mass transfer.

This paper analyses the performance of a multiple gain boost converter(MGBC)connected to a solar photovoltaic(SPV)system with a grid-tied *** capacitor inductor capacitor(CLC)-based MGBC is integrated to lift the output voltage of the SPV to the required *** voltage lifts/levels in a boost converter(BC)are based on the number of CLC *** suggested MGBC is compared with various conventional BCs in terms of boost factor and component count.A hybrid fuzzy logic-perturb&observe maximum power point tracker(HFL-P&O MPPT)developed is used to monitor P_(max)(maximum power)generated by the ***,a comparative analysis of the suggested MPPT with a conventional P&O and fuzzy logic-based(FLB)MPPT for a CLC-based MGBC is *** comparison is made in terms of rise time,voltage ripples(%),steady-state time and boost *** output characteristics of the developed model for different irradiation conditions are analysed using the MATLAB/Simulink *** MPPT simulation result exhibits minimum oscillations at MPP and a significantly better rise time of 0.015 s when compared with a conventional MPPT and FLB *** proposed CLC-MGBC gives an appreciable boost factor of *** generated SPV power is supplied to the grid through a conventional inverter and synchronized using a phase-locked loop *** total harmonic distortion of 1.66%obtained in the output current of the inverter is within the permissible range of the IEEE standards.

Hedgerows with intercropping systems were established at the ICIMOD test and demonstration site at Godawari to assess the effective- ness of Sloping Agricultural Land Technology （SALT） in reducing run- off water volume, controlling soil loss, increasing crop production, and improving soil fertility in the mid-hills of nepal. Runoff water volume （1996-2002）, soil loss （1996-2002） and maize yield （1995-2001）, and soil fertility-related parameters were assessed on SALT models with three factors： the type of nitrogen-fixing plant, the farmers＇ practice, and fertilizer use. Results showed a significant effect of Alnus nepalensis and/or Indigofera dosua on runoff water volume, soil loss, crop produc- tion, soil water retention, and soil nutrients （nPK）. Farmers＇ practice and fertilization did not play a significant role in reducing runoff water and soil loss. However, farmers＇ practice significantly increased crop produc- tion. Therefore, integrating soil conservation approaches on SALT sys- tems enhances stable economic output to hills and mountain farmers.

Gunshot injuries are rather serious but uncommon type of trauma in India. A 45-year-old male was presented with gunshot （pellets） embedded in the maxillofacial area for 22 years. There is no consensus in the literature whether to attempt their removal or leave them in situ. Our patient had no long-term sequela like infection, fistula formation, carcinogenesis or metal poisoning to date except for chill feeling on cold days. Management of this patient presented a dilemma in treatment in view of the effects of foreign bodies in the maxillofacial area.
