Synergistic extraction and separation of thorium from rare earths in chloride media using mixture of Cextrant 230 and Cyanex 923

In order to lower the usage of expensive Cyanex 923 and increase the extraction capacity of the system of Cextrant 230,the synergistic extraction of thorium from chloride media by a mixture of Cextrant 230 and Cyanex 923 was *** maximum synergistic enhancement coefficient(R)of 1.53 is obtained at 1:1 molar ratio of Cextrant 230/Cyanex *** syne rgistic extracted species of Th^(4+)is determined as ThCl_(4)·2Cextrant 230·Cyanex *** synergistic extraction of Th^(4+)is an entropy-driven exothermic *** loading capacity of 0.60 mol/L mixed extractant for thorium is about 17.10 g/L(calculated as ThO_(2)),and the loaded thorium in the organic phase can be effectively stripped by distilled *** comparison,rare earth cations are barely extracted under the similar conditions,suggesting that the mixtures can be applied to separate thorium from rare earths.A cascade extraction process was developed based on the synergistic extraction system to separate thorium from the hydrochloric acid leaching of *** content of thorium in the leaching solution decreases obviously from 19.90 mg/L to1.4μg/L by 3 stages of extraction,which is superior to sole Cextrant 230 or Cyanex *** introduction of Cextrant 230 into the extraction system not only lowers the usage of Cyanex 923 but also enhances the selective extraction of thorium at low acidity,implying that the synergistic extraction system can selectively extract thorium more efficiently and economically than the sole systems.

Critical Role of ethylene-Propylene Block Copolymer in Impact Polypropylene Copolymer

ethylene-propylene block copolymer(ebP) is a vital component in impact polypropylene copolymer(IPC), yet its distribution in the multiphase composite material and how it influences the phase structure and the mechanical properties are not well understood. In this work,four IPCs were investigated by atomic force microscopy-infrared(AFM-IR) to assess the phase compositions in situ, based on which in conjunction with the chain microstructure information obtained ex situ the distributions of the copolymer components were derived for each alloy. For the IPCs whose ebP comprises long P and long e segments, the ebP fraction was found to phase separate from the rubber and the PP matrix to form the cores of the disperse particles with the e-P segmented copolymer(esP). In contrast, in the IPC with ebP composed of long P and short e segments, the ebP fraction formed an outer shell for the rubber particles with the cores comprising the esP alone, and this IPC, containing a lower e comonomer content than its counterpart, exhibited both better impact resistance and higher flexural modulus. These results clarify how the chain structure of ebP governs the phase morphology in IPC, which in turn impacts the properties of the composite material.

Bloch oscillations(BOs),an important transport phenomenon,have been studied extensively in static systems but remain mysterious in Floquet ***,by harnessing notions from photonic analogy,we propose a generalization of the existing BOs in photonic Floquet lattices,namely the“photonic Floquet–Bloch oscillations”,which refer to rescaled photonic Bloch oscillations with a period of extended least common multiple of the modulation period and the Bloch oscillation ***,we report the first visual observation of such photonic Floquet–Bloch oscillations(FBOs)by employing waveguide fluorescence *** significantly,the FBOs surpass the existing BOs in Floquet systems and exhibit exotic properties on their own,including fractal spectrum and fractional Floquet *** new transport mechanism offers an intriguing method of wave manipulation that may contribute to rapidly developing fields in photonics,condensed matter physics,and quantum physics.

Without intervention,a considerable proportion of patients with metabolism‐associated fatty liver disease(MAFLD)will progress from simple steatosis to metabolism‐associated steatohepatitis(MASH),liver fibrosis,and even hepatocellular ***,the molecular mechanisms that control progressive MAFLD have yet to be fully ***,we unraveled that the expression of the N6-methyladenosine(m6A)methyltransferase MeTTL14 is remarkably downregulated in the livers of both patients and several murine models of MAFLD,whereas hepatocyte-specific depletion of this methyltransferase aggravated lipid accumulation,liver injury,and ***,hepatic Mettl14 overexpression alleviated the above pathophysiological changes in mice fed on a high-fat diet(HFD).Notably,in vivo and in vitro mechanistic studies indicated that MeTTL14 downregulation decreased the level of GLS2 by affecting the translation efficiency mediated by YTHDF1 in an m6A-depedent manner,which might help to form an oxidative stress microenvironment and accordingly recruit Cx3cr1^(+)Ccr2^(+)monocyte-derived macrophages(Mo-macs).In detail,Cx3cr1^(+)Ccr2^(+)Mo-macs can be categorized into M1-like macrophages and S100A4-positive macrophages and then further activate hepatic stellate cells(HSCs)to promote liver *** experiments revealed that CX3CR1 can activate the transcription of S100A4 via CX3CR1/MyD88/NF-κB signaling pathway in Cx3cr1^(+)Ccr2^(+)*** of MeTTL14 or GLS2,or interfering with this signal transduction pathway such as inhibiting MyD88 could ameliorate liver injuries and *** together,these findings indicate potential therapies for the treatment of MAFLD progression.

Prognostic value of neutrophil-to-lymphocyte ratio in end-stage liver disease:A meta-analysis

BACKGROUND The neutrophil-to-lymphocyte ratio(NLR)is commonly utilized as a prognostic indicator in end-stage liver disease(eSLD),encompassing conditions like liver failure and decompensated ***,some studies have contested the prognostic value of NLR in *** To investigate the ability of NLR to predict *** Databases,such as embase,PubMed,Web of Science,Cochrane Library,China National Knowledge Infrastructure,Weipu,and Wanfang,were comprehensively searched to identify studies published before October 2022 assessing the prognostic ability of NLR to predict mortality in patients with *** sizes were calculated using comprehensive meta-analysis software and SATAT *** A total of thirty studies involving patients with end-stage liver disease(eSLD)were included in the *** the pooled results of eight studies,it was observed that the Neutrophil-to-Lymphocyte Ratio(NLR)was significantly higher in non-survivors compared to survivors(random-effects model:standardized mean difference=1.02,95%confidence interval=0.67-1.37).Additionally,twenty-seven studies examined the associations between NLR and mortality in eSLD patients,reporting either hazard ratios(HR)or odds ratios(OR).The combined findings indicated a link between NLR and eSLD mortality(randomeffects model;univariate HR=1.07,95%CI=1.05-1.09;multivariate HR=1.07,95%CI=1.07-1.09;univariate OR=1.29,95%CI=1.18-1.39;multivariate OR=1.29,95%CI=1.09-1.49).Furthermore,subgroup and meta-regression analyses revealed regional variations in the impact of NLR on eSLD mortality,with Asian studies demonstrating a more pronounced *** Increased NLR in patients with eSLD is associated with a higher risk of mortality,particularly in Asian *** is a useful prognostic biomarker in patients with eSLD.
