Three-dimensional spatial structure of the macro-pores and flow simulation in anthracite coal based on X-ray μ-CT scanning data

Numerical simulation of enhancing coalbed methane recovery by injecting CO_2 with heat injection

The technology used to enhance coalbed methane(CBM) recovery by injecting CO_2(CO_2-ECBM) with heat, combining heat injection with CO_2 injection, is still in its infancy; therefore, theoretical studies of this CO_2-ECBM technology should be perused. First, the coupling equations of the di usion–adsorption–seepage–heat transfer fields of gas are established. The displacement processes under di erent pressures and temperatures are simulated by COMSOL. Finally, the displacement effects, a comparison of the CO_2 storage capacity with the CH_4 output and the e ective influencing radius of CO_2 injection are analyzed and discussed. The results show that(1) the displacement pressure and temperature are two key factors influencing the CH_4 output and the CO_2 storage capacity, and the increase in the CO_2 storage capacity is more sensitive to temperature and pressure than the CH_4 output.(2) The gas flow direction is from the injection hole to the discharge hole during the displacement process, and the regions with high velocity are concentrated at the injection hole and the discharge hole.(3) A reduction in the CH_4 concentration and an increase in the CO_2 concentration are obvious during the displacement process.(4) The e ective influencing radius of injecting CO_2 with heat increases with the increase in time and pressure. The relationship between the e ective influencing radius and the injection time of CO_2 has a power exponential function, and there is a linear relationship between the functional coe cient and the injection pressure of CO_2. This numerical simulation study on enhancing CBM recovery by injecting CO_2 with heat can further promote the implementation of CO_2-ECBM project in deep coal seams.

Spatial Variability of Micronutrients in Rice Grain and Paddy Soil

Consumption of rice is the main source of micronutrients to human in Asia. A paddy field with unknown anthro- pogenic contamination in Deqing County, Zhejiang Province, China was selected to characterize the spatial variability and distribution of micronutrients in rice grain and soil. A total of 96 paired soil and rice grain samples were collected at harvest. The micronutrients in the soil samples were extracted by diethylenetriamine pentaacetic acid （DTPA）. The mean micronutrient concentrations in rice grain were 3.85 μg Cu g^-1, 11.6 μg Fe g^-1, 39.7 μg Mn g^-1 and 26.0 μg Zn g^-1 The mean concentrations were 2.54μg g^-1 for DTPA-Cu, 133.5μg g^-1 for DTPA-Fe, 30.6μg g^-1 for DTPA-Mn, and 0.84μg g^-1 for DTPA-Zn. Semivariograms showed that measured micronutrients in rice grain were moderately dependent, with a range distance of about 110 m. The concentrations of the DTPA-extractable micronutrients all displayed strong spatial dependency, with a range distance of about 60 m. There was some resemblance of spatial structure between soil pH and the grain Cu, Fe, Mn, and Zn. By analogy, similar spatial variation was observed between soil organic matter （SOM） and DTPA-extractable table micronutrients in the soil. Kriging estimated maps of the attributes showed the spatial distributions of the variables in the field, which is beneficial for better understanding the spatial variation of micronutrients and for potentially refining agricultural management practices at a field scale.

Recombinant fibronectin polypeptide antagonizes hepatic failure induced by endotoxin in mice

AIM: To study the preventive effect of recombinant human fibronectin (rhFN) polypeptide on hepatic failure in- duced by endotoxin in mice. METHODS: A cDNA fragment coding for Ile1363-Tyr1725 of human FN was inserted into the PinPoint Xa-3 plasmid, and the constructed plasmid was transformed into E coli BL21 (DE3) cells, and then the expression of rhFN polypeptide in DE3 cells was identified through SDS-PAGE. The target protein from the supernatant of bacteria lysate was purified through biotin-affinity chromatography. The bioactivity of the purified rhFN polypeptide was determined with cell adhesiveactivity. The survival rate was observed in endotoxemia mice injected with rhFN polypeptide. The tissue damage in hepatocyte was detected using histology, ultrastructure, and DNA fragmentation assay. RESULTS: The expression of rhFN polypeptide reached approximately 20 % of the total cellular protein. The adhesion ability of rhFN polypeptide was concentration-dependent. The value of EC50 was 0.8 nmol/L. The survival rate of endotoxemia mice sensitized by D-galactosamine (D-GalN) was 60 % in rhFN polypeptide treated group, while that of endotoxemia mice sensitized by D-GalN was 20 % in the control group (P<0.01). Histopathology showed that less necrosis occurred on the hepatocyte of endotoxemia mice in- jected with rhFN polypeptide compared with saline control. Ultrastructure and DNA fragmentation assay showed that no apoptotic hepatocyte was observed in the liver of rhFN-treated endotoxemia mice. CONCLUSION: Re- combinant fibronectin polypeptide antagonizes hepatic failure induced by endotoxin in mice.

Age-specific prevalence of human papillomavirus by grade of cervical cytology in Tibetan women

Background Human papillomavirus （HPV） is believed to be the most common sexually transmitted infection. However,little is known about the prevalence and distribution of HPV types in China. We aimed to assess the prevalence and the distribution of HPV types as well as risks for abnormal cervical cytology in women who reside in the Tibetan Autonomous Region of *** A cross-sectional study was performed involving a sample of 3036 women. An epidemiological questionnaire was applied and cervical specimens were obtained for liquid-based cytology and HPV DNA detection. Statistical analysis included chi-square and Logistic regression *** In this population, 3.66% （111/3036） had atypical squamous cells of undetermined significance （ASCUS）,1.45% （44/3036） low-grade squamous intraepithelial lesions （LSIL） and 1.09% （33/3036） had high-grade squamous intraepithelial lesions （HSIL）. Tibetan women （5.74%, 137/2387） exhibited lower abnormal cytology rates than non-Tibetan women （8.01%, 52/649, P=0.03）. The overall prevalence of HPV infection was 9.19% （279/3036）. We failed to identify any differences in HPV prevalence by age. In the groups with normal, ASCUS, LSIL and HSIL, the overall HPV prevalences were 7.41% （211/2847）, 24.32% （27/111）, 56.82% （25/44） and 45.45% （15/33）, respectively. HPV 16 （1.52%,46/3036） was the most common type, and was also the most prevalent in women with ASCUS （8.11%, 9/111） and HSIL （15.15%, 5/33）. The most common HPV type for Tibetan women was HPV 16 （1.42%, 34/2387）, whereas for non-Tibetan individuals it was HPV 33 （2.31%, 15/649）. Of the 279 HPV-infected women, 40 individuals （14.34%） presented with multiple HPV positivity. Women who had two pregnancies were more likely to have abnormal cytology smear （OR=1.67;95% CI： 1.07-2.61）.Conclusions A low prevalence of HPV positivity was observed in women who reside in the Tibetan Autonomous Region of China. Malignant ovarian tumors complicating pregnancy: a clinicopathological study of twenty-one cases

Objective: To study the clinicopathological characters of malignant ovarian tumors during pregnancy. The rationale for appropriate management was ***: Twenty-one cases of malignant ovarian tumors complicating pregnancy treated between 1985 and 2002 were reviewed retrospectively. In reference with the reports from the current literatures, the rationale of the treatment for the best outcome of both mother and child was ***:In the patients reviewed, 9 were found with malignant germ cell tumors of the ovary, 6 with low malignant potential tumors, 4 with invasive epithelial tumors, and 2 with sex cord-stromal tumors. Sixteen (76.2 %) of the patients diagnosed in stage I, and all had achieved complete response to the treatment. Three of the four patients in advanced stage died, of which two were invasive epithelial cancers and one stage Ⅳ endodermal sinus tumor. All patients had surgery, and fourteen of them got conservative surgery. All sixteen patients accepted for chemotherapy took adjuvant chemotherapies after abortions or deliveries. Fourteen healthy live births were recorded in this group and there were no documented birth defects, but one died of respiratory distress ***: The managements of malignant ovarian cancers during pregnancy differed in different histological types. In ovarian borderline tumors and malignant germ cell tumors including stage Ⅰ, Ⅱ, and Ⅲ, surgery can be conservative. For advanced epithelial cancers, aggressive surgery should be instituted. Chemotherapy could be considered for the malignant germ cell tumor during the second and third trimester. Ovarian borderline tumors should not take *** cancer should be given combination platinum-based chemotherapy. Hysterectomy during pregnancy is rarely indicated unless it contributes significantly to tumor debulking, and pregnancy often could be allowed to continue until near-term.
