Decreased STAT4 indicates poor prognosis and enhanced cell proliferation in hepatocellular carcinoma

AIM: To investigate the role of signal transduction and activation of transcription 4(STAT4) in the development and progression of human hepatocellular carcinoma(HCC).METHODS: Recent genetic investigations have identified that a genetic variant of STAT4 is associated with hepatitis b virus(Hb V)-related HCC. The level of STAT4 in 90 HCC patients was examined via Western blot and immunohistochemical analyses. The correlation between STAT4 expression and the clinicopathological characteristics of the patients was analyzed. The level of STAT4 expression in the HCC liver tissues was significantly lower than that in the non-HCC liver tissues and correlated with tumor size, histological grade of HCC and serum hepatitis b surface antigen level in HCC patients. The data were statistically analyzed using SPSS. Furthermore, si RNA oligos targeting STAT4 were employed to investigate the influence of STAT4 RNA interference on HCC cell physiology. based on Cell Counting Kit-8 and flow cytometric assays, we found that depletion of STAT4 expression significantly enhanced the proliferation of L02 ***: STAT4 protein expression was significantly lower in HCC tissues than in normal liver tissues. Immunohistochemistry followed by statistical analysis revealed that the expression of STAT4 negatively correlated with Ki67 expression(r = 0.851; P < 0.05) and positively correlated with maximal tumor size(P < 0.05), Hb V(P = 0.012) and histological grade(P < 0.05). Kaplan-Meier analysis revealed significant differences in the survival curves between HCC patients expressing low and high levels of STAT4 and Ki67(P < 0.05). based on a multivariate Cox proportional hazard model, STAT4 expression was an independent prognostic indicator for HCC patients who underwent curative resection. In vitro, following the release of L02 cell lines from serum starvation, the expression of STAT4 was downregulated, and transfection of L02 cells with si RNA targeting STAT4 inhibited cell proliferation.C

In this article, the UDF technology in Fluent software is used to simulate three-dimensional flow fields and to obtain various flow parameters. The standard k -ε model and the RNG k -ε model are both used to calculate the inner flow field of the basal meter, and a comparison of the calculated results between two models shows that RNG k - ε model is more effective for calculations of the inner flow of rotary wing mechanism. The influence of tip clearance on the characteristics of the basal meter is studied. The influence of the bottom ribs on the heat meter is evaluated by the numerical simulation method. This article also simulates the flow of disturbance located at the inlet of the basal meter, and shows that a swirl located at the front of the basal meter can affect the stability of the heat meter.

Herbicides with drip irrigation(chemigation)could control the herbicides application accurately as the irrigation technology,and could reduce the harm to humans and the ***,the herbicide concentration is not consistent in the advancing process along the drip irrigation tape of different lengths,which not only influences the crop growth and results in herbicide *** this study,the crop and environmental effects of chemigation were discussed,potassium permanganate was used to replace herbicides,and a laboratory test was conducted to determine the best application *** on this result,the maize field experiment of chemigation under plastic mulch was carried out to compare the effects of maize growth index,yield and herbicide residue for determining the optimal chemigation *** result shows that there is no significant difference in the application uniformity among treatments,but the leaf area index(LAI),yield,and double-ear rate of maize under continuous application(CA)were higher than those under periodic application(PA)and no application(NA)*** month after the application,the acetochlor residue of the two modes was less than 1%,which would not cause pollution to the surrounding *** there was a significant linear regression relationship between the length of drip irrigation tape and the optimal application duration under the same acetochlor dosage.

Understanding the drifting motion of a small semi-submersible drifter is of vital importance regarding monitoring surface currents and the floating pollutants in coastal regions. This work addresses this issue by establishing a mechanistic drifting forecast model based on kinetic analysis. Taking tide–wind–wave into consideration, the forecast model is validated against in situ drifting experiment in the Radial Sand Ridges. Model results show good performance with respect to the measured drifting features, characterized by migrating back and forth twice a day with daily downwind displacements. Trajectory models are used to evaluate the influence of the individual hydrodynamic forcing. The tidal current is the fundamental dynamic condition in the Radial Sand Ridges and has the greatest impact on the drifting distance. However, it loses its leading position in the field of the daily displacement of the used drifter. The simulations reveal that different hydrodynamic forces dominate the daily displacement of the used drifter at different wind scales. The wave-induced mass transport has the greatest influence on the daily displacement at Beaufort wind scale 5–6; while wind drag contributes mostly at wind scale 2–4.

Flotation mechanisms of molybdenite fines by neutral oils

The flotation mechanisms of molybdenite fines by neutral oils were investigated through microflotation test, turbidity measure- ments, infrared spectroscopy, and interracial interaction calculations. The results of the flotation test show that at pH 2-11, the floatability of molybdenite fines in the presence of transformer oil is markedly better than that in the presence of kerosene and diesel oil. The addition of transformer oil, which enhances the floatability of molybdenite fines, promotes the aggregation of molybdenite particles. Fourier transform infrared measurements illustrate that physical interaction dominates the adsorption mechanism of neutral oil on molybdenite. Interracial inte- raction calculations indicate that hydrophobic attraction is the crucial force that acts among the oil collector, water, and molybdenite. Strong hydrophobic attraction between the oily collector and water provides the strong dispersion capability of the collector in water. Furthermore, the dispersion capability of the collector, not the interaction strength role in the flotation system of molybdenite fines. Our findings provide between the oily collectors and molybdenite, has a highly significant insights into the mechanism ofmolybdenite flotation.

Separators is indispensable for the normal operation of lithium-ion batteries(LIBs).However,the widely used commercial polyolefin separators have some inherent deficiencies such as poor thermotolerance,high inflammability and inferior electrolyte wettability,which restrict their further applications of the advanced and safe ***,we design a novel thermotolerant(a shrinkage percentage of 0%at 300℃)and flame retarded aerogel separator consisting of aramid nanofibers(ANFs).Because of its high porosity(86.5%±6.1%)and excellent electrolyte uptake(695%),the ANFs aerogel separator has an ionic conductivity of 1.04 mS/cm and a high lithium-ion transference number(0.67),which can endow LIBs with outstanding rate performance and superior cycling ***,the ANFs aerogel separator-based batteries possess a discharge specific capacity of 102 m Ah/g with a capacity retention of 90.7%and a Coulombic efficiency of 99.3%after 600 cycles at 5 *** addition,under an operated temperature of 90℃,the battery with ANFs aerogel separator can still conduct the very steady chargedischarge,presenting a capacity retention of 90.1%and a Coulombic efficiency of 99.6%after 200 cycles at 3 ***,the separator can probably serve as a potential candidate for application to advanced and safe LIBs.

Effects of seedling age on the growth stage and yield formation of hydroponically grown long-mat rice seedlings

Understanding the characteristics of rice productivity is of great importance for achieving high yield ***,such traits have not yet been studied for different ages of hydroponically grown long-mat rice seedlings(HLMS),which constitutes a new method of seedling *** experiments were conducted to evaluate the effects of seedling age on the growth stage,photosynthesis characteristics,dry matter production,and yield of HLMS.A conventional japonica rice cultivar(Wuyunjing 24)and an indica hybrid rice cultivar(6 Liangyou 9368)were used as test *** results showed that the whole phase was shortened by 13-15 days for young seedlings(13-day-old)compared with old seedlings(27-day-old),which occurred because the growth process accelerated with the transplantation of young *** seedling age increased,the dry matter weight of stems of individual plants and of the population increased at the transplanting stage but decreased at the maturity stage(MS).Compared with that of 27-day-old seedlings,the average ratio of panicle weight to total plant dry weight of 13-day-old seedlings during a 2-year period increased by 3.71%for Wuyunjing 24 and by 3.78%for 6 Liangyou 9368 at the ***,as seedling age increased,the leaf area index and photosynthetic potential decreased for both cultivars,and the photosynthetic rate markedly decreased at the heading stage(HS).With the exception of that of Wuyunjing 24 from the jointing stage to the HS in 2014,the crop growth rate was higher for young seedlings than for old *** yield significantly decreased with seedling age,but no significant difference was detected between the 13-and 20-day-old seedlings for either ***,equilibrious and high biological yield formation,vigorous growth in the late stages,and high photosynthetic production capacity are important characteristics and causes of the efficient and sustainable output of photosynthetic systems and for achieving high yield
