Synergistic Interaction and Gelation in Cationic Guar Gum-Sodium Alginate System

The synergistic interaction between the cationic guar gum (the ammonium hydroxy-propyl-trimethyl chloride of guar gum) and sodium alginate has been studied. The effects of the mass ratio of them, mixed temperature, balk salt ion concentration, incubation time and pH value on gelation were investigated. It has been observed that there was a gel strength maximum when the mass ratio was 0.6, the mixed temperature was 70°C, the balk salt ion concentration was 1.0 mol·L?1, the incubation time was 30 min and the pH value was 8. Interaction between molecules of these two polysaccharides was investigated by FT-IR spectrometry. In addition to their many well-known advantages(e.g.,ultra-high porosity,good pore size distribution,easy functionalization,and structural tolerability),metal-organic frameworks(MOFs)are a new class of advanced functional ***,their backbones are highly susceptible to deformation after exposure to acidic or alkaline *** a result of lithium-ion batteries embedding or detaching directly from MOFs,they irreversibly *** a result,they fail to maintain their electrochemical *** factors have hindered the development of MOFs as direct electrode materials,making the design of MOF materials with controlled morphology and stable dimensions a new *** this study,we adopted a versatile and effective method to synthesize a novel MOF material(NiCo-BP(BP=BTC/phen and BTC=1,3,5-benzenetricarboxylic acid))using the rigid ligands 1,10-phenanthroline and homobenzotrizoic acid,and the emergence of the Ni-O/N and Co-O/N coordination layers was observed by extended X-ray absorption fine structure(EXAFS)tests,indicating that Ni and Co were coordinated with heterocyclic N-given atoms to form a stable p-πconjugated ***,the metal-ion is attached to the carboxylic acid ligand on the other side,making the metal-organic skeleton complete and *** nanosphere structure of NiCo-BP(~400 nm)allows for full exposure and utilisation of the active sites,especially the Ni,Co,and phenanthroline units,and exhibit impressively high specific capacity and cycling *** a high current density of 1.0 A·g^(−1),a high discharge specific capacity of 631.6 mAh·g^(−1)was obtained after 1000 *** co-participation of two organic ligands in the coordination is in accordance with the theory of soft and hard acids and bases,which contributes to the ability of the material to maintain a high capacity in cycling as well as its cyclic stability.

Objective:Qu Du Qiang Fei 1 Hao Fang(QDQF1)is a novel Chinese herbal medicine formula used to treat coronavirus disease 2019(COVID-19).However,the pharmacological mechanisms of action of QDQF1 remain *** objective of this study was to identify the effective ingredients and biological targets of QDQF1 for COVID-19 *** and Methods:The effective ingredients and mechanisms of action of QDQF1 were analyzed by using network pharmacology methods,which included an analysis of the effective ingredients and corresponding targets,COVID-19-related target acquisition,compound-target network analyses,protein-protein interaction network analysis,Kyoto Encyclopedia of Genes and Genomes(KEGG)and Gene Ontology(GO)enrichment analyses,and molecular docking ***:In total,288 effective QDQF1 ingredients were *** identified 51 core targets from the 148 targets through an overlap between putative QDQF1 targets and COVID-19-related *** key components,including formononetin,kaempferol,luteolin,naringenin,quercetin,and wogonin were identified through component-target network *** functional enrichment analysis of the core targets revealed 1296 items,while KEGG pathway enrichment analysis identified 148 signaling *** central targets(CCL2,CXCL8,IL1B,IL6,MAPK1,MAPK3,MAPK8,STAT3,and TNF)related to the COVID-19 pathway were identified in the KEGG pathway enrichment ***,molecular docking analysis suggested that the docking scores of the six key components to the nine central targets were better than those to ***:QDQF1 may regulate multiple immune-and inflammation-related targets to inhibit the progression of severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2,and thus,may be suitable for the treatment of COVID-19.

Steroid 5β-reductase [aldo-keto reductase family 1 member D1(AKR1D1)] is essential for bile acid biosynthesis. Bile acid deficiency caused by genetic defects in AKR1D1 leads to life-threatening neonatal hepatitis and cholestasis. There is still limited experience regarding the treatment of this disease. We describe an infant who presented with hyperbilirubinemia and coagulopathy but normal bile acid and γ-glutamyltransferase. Gene analysis was performed using genomic DNA from peripheral lymphocytes from the patient, his parents, and his elder brother. The patient was compound heterozygous for c.919C>T in exon 8 and exhibited a loss of heterozygosity of the AKR1D1 gene, which led to an amino acid substitution of arginine by cysteine at amino acid position 307(p.R307C). Based on these mutations, the patient was confirmed to have primary 5β-reductase deficiency. Ursodeoxycholic acid(UDCA) treatment did not have any effect on the patient. However, when we changed to chenodeoxycholic acid(CDCA) treatment, his symptoms and laboratory tests gradually improved. It is therefore crucial to supplement with an adequate dose of CDCA early to improve clinical symptoms and to normalize laboratory tests.

AIM:To evaluate the therapeutic effect of amniotic membrane(AM)for covering high myopic macular hole associated with retinal detachment following failed primary ***:Seventeen eyes of 17 patients whose axial length was more than 29 mm suffered from macular hole(MH)or MH associated with retinal detachment(RD),and had previously surgery of pars plana vitrectomy(PPV)with internal limiting membrane(ILM)peeling and silicone oil(SO)*** a year after the surgery,optical coherence tomography(OCT)showed that MH did not heal in all 17 eyes and RD was still maintained in 13 eyes of these 17 *** performed SO removal combined with AM covering on macular area and C3 F8 tamponade,and phacoemulsification combined with intraocular lens implantation simultaneously cataract *** followed up these patients for one ***:In all 17 eyes,SO was removed successfully,MHs were healed and RDs were *** eye(5.89%,1/17)had AM shifted half a month after surgery and underwent a second surgery to adjust the position of the AM and supplement C3 *** surgery,the visual acuity(VA)improved in 15 eyes(88.24%,15/17),no change in two eyes(11.76%,2/17).No serious complications occurred in all ***:AM covering is helpful to rescue the previous failure surgery of high myopic MH.

In this study, a high-carbon nano-bainitic GCr15Si1Mo bearing steel was investigated. Specifically, the effects of content and size of undissolved carbides on the microstructure and transformation kinetics of nano-bainite were analyzed. The results demonstrated that after prolonged austempering at low temperatures, the mixed microstructure composed of nano-bainite (NB), undissolved carbides (UC), and retained austenite (RA) was obtained in GCr15SiMo steel. When the experimental steel was austenitized at 900 ℃, the undissolved carbides gradually dissolved until reaching a stable state with increasing holding time. Furthermore, at the same austempering temperature, despite different volume fractions of undissolved carbides in the substrate, the volume fractions of nano-bainite in the final microstructures remained essentially the same. Moreover, the higher the content of undissolved carbides in steel, the faster the transformation rate of nano-bainite and the shorter the total transformation time.

Direct methanol fuel cell technology recently becomes the focus of both academic and engineering circles,which stimulates the exploitation and utilization of advanced electrode catalysts with high activity and long ***,we demonstrate a robust bottom-up approach to the spatial construction of three-dimensional(3D) spinel manganese-cobalt oxide-modified N-doped graphene nanoarchitectures decorated with ultrasmall Pt nanoparticles(Pt/MnCo_(2)O_(4)-NG) via a controllable selfassembly *** incorporation of MnCo_(2)O_(4)nanocrystals provides abundant hydroxyl sources to promote the oxidative removal of CO-like byproducts on Pt sites,while the existence of 3D porous N-doped graphene networks facilitates the transportation of both ions and electrons in the hybrid system,thus giving rise to remarkable synergetic coupling effects during the methanol oxidation ***,the optimized Pt/MnCo_(2)O_(4)-NG nano architecture expres ses exceptional electrocatalytic properties with a large electrochemically active surface area of 99.5 m^(2)·g^(-1),a high mass activity of1508.3 mA·mg^(-1),strong toxicity resistance and reliable long-term durability,which have obvious competitive advantages over those of conventional Pt/carbon black,Pt/carbon nano tube,Pt/graphene,and Pt/N-doped graphene catalysts with the same Pt usage.
