The limited treatment options for advanced prostate cancer(PCa)lead to the urgent need to discover new anticancer ***,an isomer of glucose,has been reported to have an anticancer effect on various ***,the anticancer effect of mannose in PCa remains *** this study,we demonstrated that mannose inhibits the proliferation and promotes the apoptosis of PCa cells in vitro,and mannose was observed to have an anticancer effect in mice without harming their *** of intracellular mannose simultaneously decreased the mitochondrial membrane potential,increased mitochondrial and cellular reactive oxygen species(ROS)levels,and reduced adenosine triphosphate(ATP)production in PCa *** treatment of PCa cells induced changes in mitochondrial morphology,caused dysregulated expression of the fission protein,such as fission,mitochondrial 1(FIS1),and enhanced the expression of proapoptotic factors,such as BCL2-associated X(Bax)and BCL2-antagonist/killer 1(Bak).Furthermore,lower expression of mannose phosphate isomerase(MPI),the key enzyme in mannose metabolism,indicated poorer prognosis in PCa patients,and downregulation of MPI expression in PCa cells enhanced the anticancer effect of *** study reveals the anticancer effect of mannose in PCa and its clinical significance in PCa patients.

The intrinsic perception process of taste is ob- viously far less known than those of vision, audition, touch and olfaction. Despite that taste cells utilize a variety of sen- sory mechanisms to translate plenty of gustatory sensations such as sour, sweet, bitter, salty and umami into cellular sig- nals, gustatory perception mechanisms are still under explo- ration due to the lack of effective methods on cellular and molecular level. Recently the development of molecular bio- logical and electrophysiological studies has promoted explo- ration of olfactory and gustatory transduction and coding mechanisms dramatically. Based on the studies of artificial olfaction, artificial taste and cell-based biosensor in our laboratory, this paper reviews the current research on taste transduction mechanism. We introduce the recent advances in cell chip that combined biology with microelectronics, discuss taste cell chip as well as its potential of prospective application in taste transduction mechanism in detail and propose the research trends of taste chip in future.

Isothermal microcalorimetry provides thermodynamic and kinetic information on various reactions and processes and is thereby a powerful tool to elucidate their mechanisms. Certain improvement in isothermal microcalorimetry with regard to the studies on soil and environmental sciences is briefly described. This review mainly focuses on the use of microcalorimetry in the determination of soil microbial activity, monitoring the toxicity and biodegradation of soil organic pollutants, the risk evaluation of metals and metalloids, the heat effect of ion exchange and adsorption in soil, and environmental researches. Promising prospects for the applications of the technique in the field are also discussed.

The neuronal differentiation of mesenchymal stem cells offers a new strategy for the treatment of neurological ***,there is a need to identify a noninvasive and sensitive in vivo imaging approach for real-time monitoring of transplanted stem *** previous study confirmed that magnetic resonance imaging,with a focus on the ferritin heavy chain 1 reporter gene,could track the proliferation and differentiation of bone marrow mesenchymal stem cells that had been transduced with lentivirus carrying the ferritin heavy chain 1 reporter ***,we could not determine whether or when bone marrow mesenchymal stem cells had undergone neuronal differentiation based on changes in the magnetic resonance imaging *** solve this problem,we identified a neuron-specific enolase that can be differentially expressed before and after neuronal differentiation in stem *** this study,we successfully constructed a lentivirus carrying the neuron-specific enolase promoter and expressing the ferritin heavy chain 1 reporter gene;we used this lentivirus to transduce bone marrow mesenchymal stem *** and animal studies showed that the neuron-specific enolase promoter effectively drove the expression of ferritin heavy chain 1 after neuronal differentiation of bone marrow mesenchymal stem cells;this led to intracellular accumulation of iron and corresponding changes in the magnetic resonance imaging *** summary,we established an innovative magnetic resonance imaging approach focused on the induction of reporter gene expression by a neuron-specific *** imaging method can be used to noninvasively and sensitively detect neuronal differentiation in stem cells,which may be useful in stem cell-based therapies.

Quantum density functional theory （DFT） results are reported for the building block [LaL^1（NO3）] of La complex [LaL^1（NO3）]NO3·5H2O （L^1 = （CH3）2CHCH2CH（NCHC4H3O）COO^-）. The structure was optimized and the calculation results show that the lanthanum ion is coordinated by one nitrogen atom and three oxygen atoms of L^1 and two oxygen atoms of nitrate ion. The bond length of La-N is 0.2637 nm and the average length of La-O is 0.2526 nm, which are consistent with the literatures. In addition, the stabilities, electronic structural characteristics and IR spectra of the complex have been analyzed, which describe the coordination of lanthanum ion with other atoms in detail.

Let α be a nonzero endomorphism of a ring R, n be a positive integer and T_n（R, α） be the skew triangular matrix ring. We show that some properties related to nilpotent elements of R are inherited by T_n（R, α）. Meanwhile, we determine the strongly prime radical, generalized prime radical and Behrens radical of the ring R[x; α]/（x^n）, where R[x; α] is the skew polynomial ring.
