Investigation of mechanical and electrical characteristics of selfsensing pneumatic torsional actuators

Soft pneumatic actuators are one of the most promising actuation for soft robots,and great achievements have been *** it remains challenging to endow sensing capabilities to pneumatic actuators,especially for the sensing ability originating directly from the actuator ***,a self-sensing pneumatic torsional actuator(SPTA)is designed based on the electromagnetic induction effect and magnetically responsive *** SPTA can generate feedback voltage and current with the deformation,in which the sensing function comes from its inherent *** investigate the mechanical and electrical characteristics,an experimental platform and a finite element model are established,*** find that the torsion angle and output torque increase in nonlinear with the actuating *** maximum torsion angle is 66.35°,which is 84.34%of that for the actuator fabricated by pure *** maximum output torque(24.9 n mm)improves by 23.19%compared with the actuator made by pure *** regards the electrical characteristics,the maximum feedback voltage and current are 2.90μV and 29.50 nA when the SPTA is actuated by a pressure of−40 *** also demonstrate that the relationship between the torsion angle and the magnetic flux change is approximately ***,the number of turns of wires,magnetic powders contents,and magnetic direction on the feedback voltage and current are *** show that the feedback voltage and current can be enhanced by increasing the number of turns and magnetic powders *** envision that the SPTA would be promising for soft robots to realize their accuracy control and intelligentization.

H7n9 subtype avian influenza virus poses a great challenge for poultry *** disease virus(nDV)-vectored H7n9 avian influenza vaccines(nDV_(vec)H7n9)are effective in disease control because they are protective and allow mass *** note,these vaccines elicit undetectable H7n9-specific hemagglutination-inhibition(HI)but high IgG antibodies in ***,the molecular basis and protective mechanism underlying this particular antibody immunity remain ***,immunization with an nDV_(vec)H7n9 induced low anti-H7n9 HI and virus neutralization titers but high levels of hemagglutinin(HA)-binding IgG antibodies in *** residues(S150,G151 and S152)in HA of H7n9 virus were identified as the dominant epitopes recognized by the nDV_(vec)H7n9 immune *** transferred nDV_(vec)H7n9 immune serum conferred complete protection against H7n9 virus infection in *** nDV_(vec)H7n9 immune serum can mediate a potent lysis of HA-expressing and H7n9 virus-infected cells and significantly suppress H7n9 virus *** activities of the serum were significantly impaired after heat-inactivation or treatment with complement inhibitor,suggesting the engagement of the complement ***,mutations in the 150-SGS-152 sites in HA resulted in significant reductions in cell lysis and virus neutralization mediated by the nDV_(vec)H7n9 immune serum,indicating the requirement of antibody-antigen binding for complement ***,antibodies induced by the nDV_(vec)H7n9 can activate antibody-dependent complement-mediated lysis of H7n9 virus-infected cells and complement-mediated neutralization of H7n9 *** findings unveiled a novel role of the complement in protection conferred by the nDV_(vec)H7n9,highlighting a potential benefit of engaging the complement system in H7n9 vaccine design.

Self-destructing chips have promising applications for securing *** paper proposes a new concept of energetic diodes for the first time,which can be used for self-destructive chips.A simple two-step electrochemical deposition method is used to prepare ZnO/CuO/Al energetic diode,in which n-type ZnO and P-type CuO are constricted to a Pn *** paper comprehensively discusses the material properties,morphology,semiconductor characteristics,and exploding performances of the energetic *** results show that the energetic diode has typical rectification with a turn-on voltage of about 1.78 V and a reverse leakage current of about 3×10^(-4)*** a constant voltage of 70 V loads to the energetic diode in the forward direction for about 0.14 s or 55 V loads in the reverse direction for about 0.17 s,the loaded power can excite the energetic diode exploding and the current rises to about100 *** to the unique performance of the energetic diode,it has a double function of rectification and *** energetic diode can be used as a logic element in the normal chip to complete the regular operation,and it can release energy to destroy the chip accurately.

Studies on the temporal,structural,and interacting features of the clubroot resistance gene Rcr1 using CRISPR/Cas9-based systems

Clubroot disease is a severe threat to Brassica crops globally,particularly in western *** resistance,achieved through pyramiding clubroot resistance(CR)genes with different modes of action,is the most important strategy for managing the ***,studies on the CR gene functions are quite *** this study,we have conducted investigations into the temporal,structural,and interacting features of a newly cloned CR gene,Rcr1,using CRISPR/Cas9 *** temporal functionality,we developed a novel CRISPR/Cas9-based binary vector,pHHIGR-Hsp18.2,to deliver Rcr1 into a susceptible canola line(DH12075)and observed that early expression of Rcr1 is critical for conferring *** structural functionality,several independent mutations in specific domains of Rcr1 resulted in loss-offunction,highlighting their importance for CR *** the study of the interacting features of Rcr1,a cysteine protease gene and its homologous allele in canola were successfully disrupted via CRISPR/Cas9 as an interacting component with Rcr1 protein,resulting in the conversion from clubroot resistant to susceptible in plants carrying intact *** results indicated an indispensable role of these two cysteine proteases in Rcr1-mediated resistance *** study,the first of its kind,provides valuable insights into the functionality of ***,the new vector p HHIGR-Hsp18.2 demonstrated an inducible feature on the removal of add-on traits,which should be useful for functional genomics and other similar research in brassica crops.

Intraseasonal variability of the Kuroshio observed via mooring at 18°n

Insufficient observations near the origin of the Kuroshio have led to incomplete understanding of the intraseasonal variability(ISV)of the *** measurements of the Kuroshio velocity were performed with an array of three profiler moorings(122.7°E,123°E,and 123.3°E)along 18°n from January 2018 to February *** ISV of the Kuroshio at 18°n was investigated based on a combination of mooring observations and global high-resolution HYbrid Coordinate Ocean Model reanalysis *** estimated time-averaged transport in the upper 350 m across the observation transect was 6.5±2.6 Sv(1.0 Sv=10^(6)m^(3)/s).Two significant ISV peaks at 50-60 and~100 d were recognized in the power spectra of the meridional velocity and *** analysis indicated that the ISV at 50-60 d was caused by westward-propagating eddies at average propagation speed of~13 cm/s and wavelength of~635 *** ISV peak at~100 d was mainly caused by northward-propagating eddies generated in the north Equatorial Current *** investigation indicated that the ISV of the Kuroshio at 18°n is dominated by meridional transport,rather than by the zonal migration of the Kuroshio main *** findings provide a better understanding of the ISV of the Kuroshio east of Luzon Island.

The electrophilic addition to an alkene with an electrophile has been widely studied and applied in organic *** organic chemistry textbook describes the classical reaction between an alkene and an iodine electrophile(such as elemental iodine and n-iodosuccinimide(nIS))as a typical ionic reaction,in which an iodonium ion is formed and then attacked by a ***,in this article,we report a new and unusual reaction mode between an alkene and nIS;that is,a single electron transfer(SET)process occurs between these two reactants by forming an electron-donor acceptor *** only does this unusual single electron transfer reaction between an alkene and nIS add fundamentally important knowledge to organic chemistry,it also provides a valuable synthetic method as the new SET reaction mode with opposite regioselectivity as compared with the traditional ionic mode.

Exceptional points(EPs),at which two or more eigenvalues and eigenstates of a resonant system coalesce,are associated with non-Hermitian Hamiltonians with gain and/or loss *** encircling of EPs has received significant interest in recent years,as it has been shown to lead to highly nontrivial phenomena,such as chiral transmission in which the final state of the system depends on the encircling ***,chiral transmission for a pair of eigenmodes has been realized by establishing a closed dynamical trajectory in parity-time-(PT-)or anti-PT-symmetric *** chiral transmission of symmetry-broken modes,more accessible in practical photonic integrated circuits,has been realized by establishing a closed trajectory encircling EPs in anti-PTsymmetric systems,the demonstrated transmission efficiency is very low due to path-dependent ***,we demonstrate chiral dynamics in a coupled waveguide system that does not require a closed ***,we explore an open trajectory linking two infinite points having the same asymptotic eigenmodes(not modes in PT-and anti-PT-symmetric systems),demonstrating that this platform enables high-efficiency chiral transmission,with each eigenmode localized in a single *** concept is experimentally implemented in a coupled silicon waveguide system at telecommunication *** work provides a new evolution strategy for chiral dynamics with superior performance,laying the foundation for the development of practical chiral-transmission devices.

Recent progress in MnBi2nTe3n+1 intrinsic magnetic topological insulators: crystal growth, magnetism and chemical disorder

The search for magnetic topological materials has been at the forefront of condensed matter research for their potential to host exotic states such as axion insulators, magnetic Weyl semimetals, Chern insulators,etc. To date, the MnBi2nTe3n+1family is the only group of materials showcasing van der Waals-layered structures, intrinsic magnetism and non-trivial band topology without trivial bands at the Fermi level. The interplay between magnetism and band topology in this family has led to the proposal of various topological phenomena, including the quantum anomalous Hall effect, quantum spin Hall effect and quantum magnetoelectric effect. Among these, the quantum anomalous Hall effect has been experimentally observed at record-high temperatures, highlighting the unprecedented potential of this family of materials in fundamental science and technological innovation. In this paper, we provide a comprehensive review of the research progress in this intrinsic magnetic topological insulator family, with a focus on single-crystal growth, characterization of chemical disorder, manipulation of magnetism through chemical substitution and external pressure, and important questions that remain to be conclusively answered.

On n-universal quadratic forms over dyadic local fields

Let n≥2 be an integer. We give necessary and sufficient conditions for an integral quadratic form over dyadic local fields to be n-universal by using invariants from Beli's theory of bases of norm ***, we provide a minimal set for testing n-universal quadratic forms over dyadic local fields, as an analogue of Bhargava and Hanke's 290-theorem(or Conway and Schneeberger's 15-theorem) on universal quadratic forms with integer coefficients.

Removal of pathogenic indicator microorganisms during partial nitrification:the role of free nitrous acid

Digested wastewater contains pathogenic microorganisms and high ammonia concentrations,which can pose a potential risk to public *** removal of pathogens and nitrogen is crucial for the post-treatment of digested *** nitrification-anammox is an energy-saving nitrogen removal *** nitrous acid(FnA),an intermediate product of partial nitrification,has the potential to inactivate ***,the efficiency and mechanisms of FnA-related inactivation in pathogens during partial nitrification remains *** this study,Enterococcus and Escherichia coli(***)were selected to investigate the efficiency and mechanisms of FnA-related inactivation in partial nitrification *** results revealed that 83%±13%and 59%±27%of *** and Enterococcus were removed,respectively,in partial nitrification process at FnA concentrations of 0.023−0.028 mg/*** the concentration of FnA increased from 0 to 0.5 mg/L,the inactivation efficiencies of *** and Enterococcus increased from 0 to 99.9%and 89.9%,*** exhibited a higher resistance to FnA attack compared to ***.3D-laser scanning microscopy(3D-LSM)and scanning electron microscopy(SEM)revealed that FnA exposure caused the surface collapse of *** and Enterococcus,as well as visible pore formation on the surface of *** cells.4',6-Diamidino-2-phenylindole dihydrochloride n-hydrate(DAPI)/propidium iodide(PI)and biomolecule leakage confirmed that inactivation of *** and Enterococcus occurred due to breakdown of cell walls and cell *** findings indicate that partial nitrification process can be used for the removal of residual pathogenic microorganisms.
