Retrieval of Oceanic Total Precipitable Water Vapor and Cloud Liquid Water from Fengyun-3D Microwave Sounding Instruments

Fengyun-3 D(FY-3 D) satellite is the latest polar-orbiting meteorological satellite launched by China and carries 10 instruments onboard. Its microwave temperature sounder(MWTS) and microwave humidity sounder(MWHS) can acquire a total of 28 channels of brightness temperatures, providing rich information for profiling atmospheric temperature and moisture. However, due to a lack of two important frequencies at 23.8 and 31.4 GHz, it is difficult to retrieve the total precipitable water vapor(TPW) and cloud liquid water path(CLW) from FY-3 D microwave sounder data as commonly done for other microwave sounding instruments. Using the channel similarity between Suomi National Polar-orbiting Partnership(NPP) advanced technology microwave sounder(ATMS) and FY-3 D microwave sounding instruments, a machine learning(ML) technique is used to generate the two missing low-frequency channels of MWTS and MWHS. Then, a new dataset named as combined microwave sounder(CMWS) is obtained,which has the same channel setting as ATMS but the spatial resolution is consistent with MWTS. A statistical inversion method is adopted to retrieve TPW and CLW over oceans from the FY-3 D CMWS. The intercomparison between different satellites shows that the inversion products of FY-3 D CMWS and Suomi NPP ATMS have good consistency in magnitude and distribution. The correlation coefficients of retrieved TPW and CLW between CMWS and ATMS can reach 0.95 and 0.85, respectively.

This paper discusses and studies the composition and characteristics of biospeckle on the surface of bone *** used a laser speckle device to capture biospeckle patterns from fresh pig bone *** speckle activity metrics were used to measure the speckle activity of ex vivo bone tissue over *** Gaussian and Lorentzian correlation functions were used to char-acterize the ordered and disordered motion of the bone surface,together with volume scattering,to construct the *** the established mathematical model of the spatio-temporal evo-lution of the biospeckle pattern,it is possible to account for the presence of volume scattering from the biospeckle of bones,quantify the ordered or disordered motions in the biological speckle activity at the current time,and assess the ability of laser speckle correlation technique to determine biological activity.

Central nervous system inj.ries have a high rate of resulting in disability and mortality;however,at present,effective treatments are *** cell death,which is a genetically determined fo rm of active and ordered cell death with many types,has recently attra cted increasing attention due to its functions in determining the fate of cell survival.A growing number of studies have suggested that programmed cell death is involved in central nervous system inj.ries and plays an important role in the progression of brain *** this review,we provide an ove rview of the role of programmed cell death in central nervous system inj.ries,including the pathways involved in mitophagy,pyroptosis,ferroptosis,and necroptosis,and the underlying mechanisms by which mitophagy regulates pyroptosis,ferroptosis,and necro *** also discuss the new direction of therapeutic strategies to rgeting mitophagy for the treatment of central nervous system inj.ries,with the aim to determine the connection between programmed cell death and central nervous system inj.ries and to identify new therapies to modulate programmed cell death following central nervous system *** conclusion,based on these properties and effects,interventions targeting programmed cell death could be developed as potential therapeutic agents for central nervous system inj.ry patients.

Effect of cultivation time on soil heavy metal accumulation and bioavailability in Phyllostachys praecox stands

Phyllostachys praecox is a bamboo species cultivated for edible shoots under intensive ***,the potential pollution risk of heavy metals in bamboo soils is not clear under the intensive management for a long *** obj.ctive of this study was to evaluate the effect of cultivation time on soil heavy metal accumulation and bioavailability in bamboo stands subj.cted to intensive *** samples were collected from a chronosequence of bamboo stands which had been cultivated for 0,1,2,4,8,and 10 years in Lin’an,Zhej.ang Province of *** heavy metals(Cu,Zn,Pb,Ni,Cr,Cd,As,and Hg)present in the soil were selected,and their potential pollution risk was evaluated by chemical speciation *** heavy metal sources were explored using multivariate and cluster *** results showed that Zn,Cu,Hg,and Cd contents in the soil increased with the cultivation time,while Ni,Cr,Pb,and As levels were similar among all ***,the bioavailabilities of all analyzed heavy metals increased with the cultivation *** and cluster analysis showed that sources of Ni,Cr,Pb,and As were likely lithogenic in origin,whereas input of Zn,Cu,Hg,and Cd was mainly due to cultivation *** bamboo management strategies raised the potential risks of heavy metal pollution in bamboo shoots in the long *** acidification in *** stands induced by intensive cultivation should be controlled since it stimulated and improved the bioavailability of heavy *** management strategies should thus be adopted to ensure safe and sustainable production of bamboo shoots.

Lunar Subsurface Mineralogy and Density Profile Modelling based on Moon Mineralogy Mapper Observation

The methods of deriving FeO and TiO_(2)contents from the Clementine spacecraft data were discussed,and an approach was developed to derive the content from the measurements using the Moon Mineralogy Mapper(M3)instrument on *** density of lunar bedrock was then modeled on the basis of the derived FeO and TiO_(2)*** FeO and TiO_(2)abundances derived from the M^(3)data were compared with the previous results of the Clementine data and were in good *** FeO abundance data also agreed well with the Lunar Prospector data,which were used as an independent *** previous Clementine and newly M3 derived abundances were compared with the laboratory measured FeO and TiO2 contents in the Apollo and Luna returned *** Clementine derived FeO content was systematically 1%–2%lower than the laboratory measurements in all the returned *** M^(3)derived content agreed well with the returned Apollo samples and was within±2.8%of the laboratory *** Clementine derived TiO2 abundance was systematically 0.1%–4%higher than the laboratory measurements of the returned *** M3 derived TiO_(2)agreed well(±0.6%)with the laboratory measurements of the returned samples,except for samples with high TiO2 ***,these results should be carefully interpreted because the error range requires *** error analysis was provided with the previous Clementine derived contents.

Variability of the Pacific subtropical cells under global warming in CMIP6 models

The Pacific subtropical cells(STCs)are shallow meridional overturning circulations connecting the tropics and subtropics,and are assumed to be an important driver of the tropical Pacific decadal *** variability of STCs under global warming is investigated using multimodal outputs from the latest phase of the Coupled Model Inter-comparison Proj.ct(CMIP6)and ocean reanalysis ***,the volume transport diagnostic analysis is employed to evaluate how coupled models and ocean reanalysis products reproduce interior STC *** variation of heat transport by the interior STC under the high-emissions warming scenarios is also *** results show that the multimodal-mean linear trends of the interior STC transport along 9°S and 9°N are-0.02 Sv/a and 0.04 Sv/a under global warming,respectively,which is mainly due to the combined effect of the strengthened upper oceanic stratification and the weakening of wind *** is a compensation relationship between the interior STC and the western boundary transport in the future climate,and the compensation relationship of 9°S is more significant than that of 9°*** addition,compared with ocean reanalysis products,the coupled models tend to underestimate the variability of the interior STC transport convergence,and thus may lose some sea surface temperature(SST)driving force,which may be the reason for the low STC-SST correlation simulated by the *** future scenario simulation shows that the heat transport of interior STC is weakened under global warming,with a general agreement across models.

Mesh generation and optimization from digital rock fractures based on neural style transfer

The complex geometric features of subsurface fractures at different scales makes mesh generation challenging and/or *** this paper,we make use of neural style transfer(NST),a machine learning technique,to generate mesh from rock fracture *** this new approach,we use digital rock fractures at multiple scales that represent’content’and define uniformly shaped and sized triangles to represent’style’.The 19-layer convolutional neural network(CNN)learns the content from the rock image,including lower-level features(such as edges and corners)and higher-level features(such as rock,fractures,or other mineral fillings),and learns the style from the triangular *** optimizing the cost function to achieve approximation to represent both the content and the style,numerical meshes can be generated and *** utilize the NST to generate meshes for rough fractures with asperities formed in rock,a network of fractures embedded in rock,and a sand aggregate with multiple *** on the examples,we show that this new NST technique can make mesh generation and optimization much more efficient by achieving a good balance between the density of the mesh and the presentation of the geometric ***,we discuss future applications of this approach and perspectives of applying machine learning to bridge the gaps between numerical modeling and experiments.
