Metabolic and epigenetic reprogramming play important roles in cancer therapeutic ***,their interplays are poorly *** report here that elevated TIGAR(TP53-induced glycolysis and apoptosis regulator),an antioxidant and glucose metabolic regulator and a target of oncogenic histone methyltransferase NSD2(nuclear receptor binding SET domain protein 2),is mainly localized in the nucleus of therapeutic resistant tumor cells where it stimulates NSD2 expression and elevates global H3K36me2 ***,TIGAR directly interacts with the antioxidant master regulator NRF2 and facilitates chromatin recruitment of NRF2,H3K4me3 methylase MLL1 and elongating Pol-II to stimulate the expression of both new(NSD2)and established(NQO1/2,PRDX1 and GSTM4)targets of NRF2,independent of its enzymatic *** TIGAR confers cancer cell resistance to chemotherapy and hormonal therapy in vitro and in tumors through effective maintenance of redox *** addition,nuclear accumulation of TIGAR is positively associated with NSD2 expression in clinical tumors and strongly correlated with poor *** findings define a nuclear TIGAR-mediated epigenetic autoregulatory loop in redox rebalance for tumor therapeutic resistance.

Petrogenesis of Cenozoic Basaltic Rocks from Jiangsu Province,China:Evidence from Geochemical Constraints

Cenozoic （Miocene to Pleistocene） basaltic rocks in Jiangsu province of eastern China include olivine tholeiite and alkali basalt. We present major, trace element and Sr-Nd isotopic data as well as Ar-Ar dating of these basalts to discuss the petrogenesis of the basalts and identify the geological processes beneath the study area. On the basis of chemical compisitions and Ar-Ar dating of Cenonoic basaltic rocks from Jiangsu province, we suggest that these basalts may belong to the same magmatic system. The alkali basalts found in Jiangsu province have higher ~FeO, MgO, CaO, Na20, TiO2 and P205 and incompatible elements, but lower A1203 and compatible elements contents than olivine tholeiite which may be caused by fractional crystallization of olivine, pyroxene and minor plagioclase. In Jiangsu basaltic rocks the incompatible elements increase with decreasing MgO/~FeO ratios. The primitive mantle-normalized incompatible elements and chondrite-normalized REE patterns of basaltic rocks found in Jiangsu province are similar to those of OIB. Partial loss of the mantle lithosphere accompanied by rising of asthenospheric mantle may accelerate the generation of the basaltic magma. The 143Nd/144Nd vs. S7Sr/S6Sr plot indicates a mixing of a depleted asthenospheric mantle source and an EM1 component in the study area. According to Shaw＇s equation, the basalts from Jiangsu province may be formed by 1%-5% partial melting of a depleted asthenospheric mantle source. On the basis of Ar-Ar ages of this study and the fractional crystallization model proposed by Brooks and Nielsen （1982）, we suggest that basalts from Jiangsu province may belong to a magmatic system with JF-2 as the primitive magma which has undergone fractional crystallization and evolved progressively to produce other types of basalts.

The effects of the Ca0.7Nd0.2Ti O3 ceramic addition on the crystallization,densification,and dielectric properties of CaO–B2O3–SiO2–(Al2O3)glass(C1:CaO–B2O3–SiO2 glass and C1A03:CaO–B2O3–SiO2–Al2O3 glass)for low-temperature co-fired ceramic(LTCC)applications are *** cristobalite phase crystallized from C1 glass was inhibited by adding *** sintering,Ca0.7Nd0.2TiO3 ceramic reacted with CaO–B2O3–SiO2–(Al2O3)glass to form the sphene(CaTiSiO5)*** amount of sphene phase increases with increasing sintering *** adding 50–60 wt%C1 or C1A03 glass,Ca0.7Nd0.2TiO3 can be densified at 850–900℃.The relative dielectric constants for Ca0.7Nd0.2TiO3 added with C1 and C1A03 glasses were all 20–***0.7Nd0.2TiO3 added with C1 glass exhibited a lower dielectric constant than C1A03 glass due to cristobalite phase *** Ca0.7Nd0.2TiO3 ceramics added with 50 wt%glass,the variation in Q×f value presented the same trend as the sphene formation amount *** best Q×f value of 2380 GHz was achieved for Ca0.7Nd0.2TiO3 ceramics added with 50 wt%C1A03 glass sintered at 900℃due to the dense structure and greater amount of ***0.7Nd0.2TiO3 ceramics added with50 wt%C1A03 glass sintered at 900℃exhibited a dielectric constant of 22.8 and Q×f value of2380 GHz,which are suitable for microwave LTCC applications.

Sediment control function of river notches

The purpose of this study is to investigate the control function and mechanisms of natural river notches. Physical and numerical experiments are analyzed in this study for two representative types of sediment events： high intensity and short duration Type A sediment disaster events, and low intensity and long duration Type B moderate non-disaster events. Two dimensionless parameters, sediment trapping rate and reduction rate of peak sediment transport, are defined to evaluate the sediment control function of river notches. Study results indicate that the contraction ratio of the notch has a significant influence on sediment control function, with high contraction ratios resulting in both high sediment-trapping and high reduction rates. River notches provide better sediment control during Type A events than Type B events. The sediment control mechanism of river notches is the result of multiple interactions among river flow, sediment transport, and riverbed variation. Analysis of these interactions supports the significant protection role of river notches on sediment control for disaster events.

Outcome of In-Hospital Cardiac Arrest in Adult General Wards

Objective: Few studies have focused on factors influencing outcomes of patients with in-hospital cardiac arrest (IHCA) in general wards. The goal of this study was to report the outcomes of adult patients with IHCA in the general wards and identified the prognostic factors. Methods: Adult patients with IHCA having received cardiopulmonary resuscitation in general wards from January 2008 to December 2011 were retrospectively reviewed from our registry system. The primary outcome was survival to hospital discharge, while the secondary outcome was sustained return of spontaneous circulation (ROSC). Results: A total of 544 general ward patients were analyzed for event variables and resuscitation results. The rate of establishing a ROSC was 40.1% and the rate of survival to discharge was 5.1%. Ventricular tachycardia/ventricular fibrillation (VT/VF) was the initial rhythm in 3.9% of patients. Pre-arrest factors including a high Charlson comorbidity index (CCI) ≥ 9 (OR 0.251, 95% CI 0.098 - 0.646), cardiac comorbidity (OR 0.612, 95% CI 0.401 - 0.933), and arrest time on the midnight shift (OR 0.403, 95% CI 0.252 - 0.642) were independently associated with a low possibility of ROSC. The initial VT/VF presenting rhythms (OR 0.135, 95% CI 0.030 - 0.601) were independently associated with a high survival rate, whereas patients with deteriorated disease course were independently associated with a decreased hospital survival (OR 3.902, 95% CI 1.619 - 9.403). Conclusions: We demonstrated that pre-arrest factors can predict patient outcome after IHCA in general wards, including the association of a CCI ≥ 9 and cardiac comorbidity with poor ROSC, and deteriorated disease course as an independent predictor of a low survival rate.

Adipocyte-macrophage crosstalk plays a critical role to regulate adipose tissue microenvironment and cause chronic inflammation in the pathogenesis of ***-29(IL-29),a member of type 3 interferon family,plays a role in host defenses against microbes,however,little is known about its role in metabolic *** explored the function of IL-29 in the pathogenesis of obesity-induced inflammation and insulin *** found that serum IL-29 level was significantly higher in obese ***-29 upregulated IL-1β,IL-8,and monocyte chemoattractant protein-1(MCP-1)expression and decreased glucose uptake and insulin sensitivity in human Simpson-Golabi-Behmel syndrome(SGBS)adipocytes through reducing glucose transporter 4(GLUT4)and AKT *** addition,IL-29 promoted monocyte/macrophage *** of IL-29 could reduce inflammatory cytokine production in macrophage-adipocyte coculture system,which mimic an obese *** vivo,IL-29 reduced insulin sensitivity and increased the number of peritoneal macrophages in high-fat diet(HFD)-induced obese ***-29 increased M1/M2 macrophage ratio and enhanced MCP-1 expression in adipose tissues of HFD ***,we have identified a critical role of IL-29 in obesity-induced inflammation and insulin resistance,and we conclude that IL-29 may be a novel candidate target for treating obesity and insulin resistance in patients with metabolic disorders.

In this work,touch panels and smart floor based on strain and load sensing are designed and demonstrated for intelligent life *** incorporating with formulations obtained from beam theory,plate mechanics,and rigid body statics,the force applied locations can be estimated based on the monitored strain or force *** preliminary experimental platforms are realized to evaluating the performance,such as spatial resolution,available sensing zone,and minimum detected force level,for possible subsequent applications.A user interface written by LabView is also created for providing a better user-machine interaction and ***,essential demonstrations on simple touch sensing and smart floor applications are *** the future,by integrating these devices with other indoor tracking techniques such as inertial navigation,IR-CMOS,or electromagnetic wave strength,it is possible to construct a better indoor localization system for service robots and even for human beings for toward the next generation living environment.
