This manuscript presents the comprehensive study of thickness stretching effects on the free vibration,static stability and bending of multilayer functionally graded(FG)carbon nanotubes reinforced composite(CNTRC)*** nanoscale and microstructure influences are considered through a modified nonlocal strain gradient continuum *** on power-law functions,four different patterns of CNTs distribution are considered in this analysis,a uniform distribution UD,FG-V CNTRC,FG-X CNTRC,and FG-O CNTRC.A 3D kinematic shear deformation theory is proposed to include the stretching influence,which is neglected in classical ***'s principle is applied to derive the governing equations of motion and associated boundary *** solutions are developed based on Galerkin method to solve the governing equilibrium equations based on the generalized higher-order shear deformation theory and the nonlocal strain gradient theory and get the static bending,buckling loads,and natural frequencies of *** with previous works is presented.A detailed parametric analysis is carried out to highlight the impact of thickness stretching,length scale parameter(nonlocal),material scale parameter(gradient),CNTs distribution pattern,geometry of the plate,various boundary conditions and the total number of layers on the stresses,deformation,critical buckling loads and vibration *** new results are also reported in the current study,which will serve as a benchmark for future research.

Strategy of the shaft eccentricity is introduced to enhance the mixing characteristics in a flat bottomed cylindrical vessel without baffles. The mixing is ensured by a six-curved blade impeller. Three solutions which are models of food emulsions are used as working fluids. These solutions have a shear thinning behavior modeled by the power-law. The effects of fluid properties, stirring rates, impeller rotational direction and impeller eccentricity on the 3D flow fields and power consumption are investigated. Three values of impeller eccentricity are considered, namely 0%, 24% and 48% of the vessel diameter. It is found that the opposite clockwise rotational direction reduces the power consumption, compared with the clockwise rotational direction. Also, the obtained results show that an impeller placed at an eccentric position between 24% and 48% of the vessel diameter and at the third of the vessel height may ensure the best mixing characteristics.

Hybrid systems based on renewable energies for the electrification of remote sites controlled by power management systems(PMSs)aim to reduce fossil fuels and increase the efficiency of renewable energy sources to minimize greenhouse gas *** influential role of the PMS contributes to improving the efficiency and effectiveness of these systems by ensuring a balance between the different sources and loads in all operating ***,the abrupt transitions between the various operational modes selected by the PMS generate power loss and *** handle this issue,a fuzzy logic controller(FLC)-based PMS controlling a photovoltaic(PV)and diesel hybrid system with a battery storage element connected to a DC bus is proposed in this *** proposed PMS is wholly based on FLC to ensure a smooth transition between the different modes of the *** success of using the suggested PMS lies in how well the FLC parameters are chosen before the system is *** this purpose,the particle swarm optimization algorithm is adapted to tune the FLC *** resulting optimal intelligent PMS is tested and compared with a classical one using comprehensive simulations performed in a Simscape ElectricalTM MATLAB®*** obtained results show an overshoot attenuation at the DC-bus voltage of 2%when changing the mode and an improvement in the PV generator efficiency by 99.5%.

With the increase of heat transfer problems in marine vehicles and submerged power stations in oceans,the search for an efficient finned-tube heat exchanger has become particularly *** purpose of the present investigation is to analyze and compare the thermal exchange and flow characteristics between five different fin designs,namely:a concentric circular finned-tube(CCFT),an eccentric circular finned-tube(ECFT),a perforated circular finned-tube(PCFT),a serrated circular finned-tube(SCFT),and a star-shaped finned-tube(S-SFT).The fin design and spacing impact on the thermal-flow performance of a heat exchanger was computed at Reynolds numbers varying from 4,300 to 15,*** the numerical results,and when the fin spacing has been changed from 2 to 7 mm,an enhancement in the Colburn factor and a reduction in the friction factor and fin performances were observed for all cases under *** criteria were checked to select the most efficient fin design:the performance evaluation criterion P EC,the global performance criterion G PC,and the mass global performance criterion M G *** the value of Reynolds number,the conventional CCFT provided the lowest performance evaluation criterion P EC,while the SCFT gave the highest amount of P *** most significant value of G PC was reached with the ECFT;however,G PC remained almost the same for CCFT,PCFT,SCFT,and *** terms of the mass global performance criterion,the S-SFT provides the highest M Gpc as compared with the full fins of CCFT(41-73%higher)and ECFT(29-54%higher).Thus,the heat exchanger with S-SFT is recommended to be used in the cooling of offshore energy systems.

The 3-D flow fields and power consumption in a vessel stirred by multistage Scaba 6SRGT impeller have been investiga- ted. The Xanthan gum solutions in water were used, which have a shear thinning behavior with yield stress. This study was carried out with the help of a CFD package （CFX 13.0, Ansys Inc.） which is based on the finite volume method to solve the momentum equations. The effects of stirring rate, fluid rheology, impeller number, impeller location and vessel size on the performance of such stirred system are presented. To validate the CFD model, our predicted results have been compared with other literature data and a satisfactory agreement has been found.

The aim of this paper is to study the effect of agitator’s types on the turbulent flows in stirred tanks without and with *** hydrodynamics behavior induced by four different agitator’s types:a Rushton turbine(RT),a circular blade turbine(CBT),a diverging triangular blade turbine(DTBT)and converging triangular blade turbine(CTBT)are numerically predicted by solving the Navier-Stokes equations and RNGκ–εturbulent *** simulations are carried out using the Multi Reference Frame(MRF)*** numerical results showed good agreement with *** find that the agitator CTBT gives an important profit on the power consumption per report/ratio the others and DTBT give a good reduction of the vortex size of the impeller angles.

The role of baffles in mechanically stirred tanks is to promote the stability of power drawn by the impeller and to avoid the fluid swirling, thus enhancing mixing. The present paper numerically investigates the baffles effects in a vessel stirred by a Rushton turbine. The geometric factor of interest is the baffle inclination which is varying between 25°, 32.5°, 45°, 70° and 90° at different impeller rotational speeds. The impeller rotational direction has also been varied. The vortex size and power consumption were evaluated for each geometrical configuration. It was found that the best configuration is the baffle inclination by = 70° at a negative angular velocity.

Although the plant kingdom provides an enormous diversity of metabolites with potentially beneficial applications for humankind,a large fraction of these metabolites and their biosynthetic pathways remain *** metabolite structures and their biosynthetic pathways is key to gaining biological understanding andto allow metabolic *** orderto retrieve novel biosynthetic genes involved in specialized metabolism,we developed a novel untargeted method designated as qualitative trait GWAs(QT-GWAS)that subjects qualitative metabolic traits to a genome-wide association study,while the conventional metabolite GWAS(mGWAS)mainly considers the quantitative variation of *** a proof of the validity of QT-GWAS,23 and 15of the retrieved associations identified in Arabidopsis thaliana by QTGWAS and mGWAS,respectively,were supported by previous ***,seven genemetabolite associations retrieved by QT-GWAS were confirmed in this study through reverse genetics combined with metabolomics and/or in vitro enzyme *** such,we established that CYTOCHROME P450706A5(CYP706A5)is involved in the biosynthesis of chroman derivatives,UDP-GLYCOSYLTRANSFERASE 76C3(UGT76C3)is able tohexosylate guanine in vitro and in planta,and SULFOTRANSFERASE 202B1(SULT202B1)catalyzes the sulfation of neolignans in ***,our study demonstrates that the untargeted QT-GWAS method can retrieve valid gene-metabolite associations at the level of enzyme-encoding genes,even new associations that cannot be found by the conventional mGwAs,providing a new approach for dissecting qualitative metabolic traits.
