Engineering microorganisms for sustainable production of fuels and chemicals are attractive because it is a renewable process and has potential to replace fossil based *** cost-efficient production of fuels and chemicals needs to achieve high yields with low by-product production,which requires high metabolic flux toward the desired ***,microorganisms have evolved robust natural habitat,and their tight regulation of metabolism make it challenging to rewire the flux[1].For instance,as a potential cell factory,Saccharomyces cerevisiae has been engineered for the production of a variety of fuels,chemicals,and pharmaceuticals,whereas the inherent ethanol production hinders the overproduction of desired *** is a Crabtree-positive organism,and ethanol production is prodominate even under aerobic condition when glucose is in excess[2].Completely blocking ethanol production leads to growth defects when using glucose as the sole carbon source,due to the lack of cytosolic acetyl-CoA for synthesis of cellular essential components such as lipids[2].Therefore,it is very difficult to completely redirect the flux from ethanol accumulation toward the product of interest only through rational ***,the group headed by Professor Jens Nielsen at Chalmers University of Technology,who has pioneered on yeast synthetic biology,solved this through combining metabolic engineering with adaptive evolution,which resulted a synthetic oil yeast with high fatty acid production and abolished ethanol accumulation[3].This study represents an important milestone in engineering of yeast for production of fuels,chemicals,and pharmaceuticals and shows the great potential metabolic engineering in rewiring the natural metabolic networks.

Modified nanosized MFI （ZSM-5 and silicalite- 1 ） zeolites were successfully synthesized by a hydrothermal method using aluminum isopropoxide and tetraethylorthosilicate as the raw materials, The synthetic zeolites were characterized by X-ray diffraction, energy dispersion spectroscopy, and scanning electron microscopy. The ZSM-5 and silicalite-1 zeolites exhibited ellipse-like and cubic columns, respectively. The K＋ ion-exchange equilibrium and ion-exchange capacity of the synthetic zeolites in seawater were investigated. The K＋ ion-exchange of synthetic zeolites was rapid and reached an ion-exchange balance in approximately 20 min. The K＋ ion-exchange capacity of ZSM-5 and silicalite-1 in seawater was 56,7 and 48.7 mg/g, respectively. The synthetic zeolites have high selectivity toward K＋, and therefore, they can be used to selectively extract potassium from seawater.

Carboxymethyl starch/silver oxide nanocomposites(CMS-Ag_(2)O NCs)were successfully fabricated by modifying carboxymethyl starch(CMS)with Ag_(2)O obtained from an aqueous AgNO_(3)solution as silver ***_(2)O nanoparticles(NPs)formed on the surface of CMS by ion *** on SEM images,the diameters of Ag_(2)O NPs were determined to be between 50 and 100 *** the XRD spectra of CMS-Ag_(2)O NCs,the new diffraction peaks appeared at 33.88°and 38.08°,which were attributed to the Ag_(2)O *** to the XPS analysis,Ag 3d_(5/2)and Ag 3d_(3/2)peaks in CMS-Ag_(2)O NCs were fitted into two main peaks centered at 367.6 eV and 373.6 eV,which were attributed to Ag^(+).The antibacterial efficiencies of CMS-Ag_(2)O NCs against Escherichia coli,Staphylococcus aureus,Pseudoalteromonas tetraodonis,Micrococcus luteus,and Shewanella putrefaciens were determined to be 99.6%,99.7%,99.4%,99.5%,and 99.6%,*** antibacterial efficiencies of CMS-Ag_(2)O NCs against the bacterial species were all greater than 99%.Therefore,these results indicated that CMS-Ag_(2)O NCs was highly effective as a bactericidal agent against multiple bacterial ***-Ag_(2)O NCs can be further applied to antifouling coating.

An opti mization process is used to redesign blades of a high-pressure *** artificial neural network (ANN) method is coupled to Navier-Stokes solvers and is applied to three different redesigns.A newrotor blade of a transonic compressor is designed by modifying thick,stacking line andinlet angle using a 3Dapproach,with a significant efficiencyi mprovement at the design *** off-design behavior of this new compressor is also checked afterwards,which shows that the whole performance of the inlet stage is improved over a wide range of mass *** losses are reduced,proving the good performance of the opti *** whole results indicate that the opti mization method can find i mproved design and can be integrated in a design procedure.

Kbphillipsite was prepared using a hydrothermal method. Soluble glass and sodium aluminate were used as raw materials in the absence of an organic template. Investigations regarding the K＋ ions were con- ducted at room temperature to determine the ion-exchange capacity in the seawater sample and the selectivity coefficient of the mixed K＋-Na~ solution. The sample was characterized by X-ray diffraction （XRD）, scanning electron microscopy （SEM）, and energy dispersion spectroscopy （EDS）. The K＋ ion- exchange capacity is 51 mg/g in seawater and the selectivity coefficient is 75.1 in the mixed K＋-Na＋ solution. The sample has a selectivity preference for K＋, and therefore can be used to selectively extract potassium from seawater. The sample composed of Si, Al, K, Na, and O exhibits a cross-like shape and is a typical K-phillipsite structure.

Swift GRB 100418A is a long burst at z = 0.624 without detection of any associated supernova （SN）. Its light curves in both the prompt and afterglow phases are similar to GRB 060614, a nearby long GRB without an associated SN. We analyze the observational data of this event and discuss the possible origins of its multiwavelength emission. We show that its joint light curve at 1 keV derived from Swift BAT and XRT observations is composed of two distinguished components. The first component, whose spectrum is extremely soft （Γ = 4.32）, ends with a steep decay segment, indicating the internal origin of this component. The second component is a slowly-rising, broad bump which peaks at ～ 10 5 s post the BAT trigger. Assuming that the late bump is due to onset of the afterglow, we derive the initial Lorentz factor （Γ 0 ） of the GRB fireball and find that it significantly deviates from the relation between the Γ 0 and isotropic gamma-ray energy derived from typical GRBs. We also check whether it follows the same anti-correlation between X-ray luminosity and the break time observed in the shallow decay phase of many typical GRBs, which is usually regarded as a signal of late energy injection from the GRB central engine. However, we find that it does not obey this correlation. We propose that the late bump could be contributed by a two-component jet. We fit the second component with an off-axis jet model for a constant medium density and find the late bump can be represented by the model. The derived jet half-opening angle is 0.30 rad and the viewing angle is 0.315 rad. The medium density is 0.05 cm 3 , possibly suggesting that it may be from a merger of compact stars. The similarity between GRBs 060614 and 100418A may indicate that the two GRBs are from the same population and the late bump observed in the two GRBs may be a signal of a two-component jet powered by the GRB central engine.

Machine reading comprehension has been a research focus in natural language processing and intelligence ***,there is a lack of models and datasets for the MRC tasks in the anti-terrorism ***,current research lacks the ability to embed accurate background knowledge and provide precise *** address these two problems,this paper first builds a text corpus and testbed that focuses on the anti-terrorism domain in a semi-automatic ***,it proposes a knowledge-based machine reading comprehension model that fuses domain-related triples from a large-scale encyclopedic knowledge base to enhance the semantics of the *** eliminate knowledge noise that could lead to semantic deviation,this paper uses a mixed mutual ttention mechanism among questions,passages,and knowledge triples to select the most relevant triples before embedding their semantics into the *** results indicate that the proposed approach can achieve a 70.70%EM value and an 87.91%F1 score,with a 4.23%and 3.35%improvement over existing methods,respectively.

The variability in multi-pulse gamma-ray bursts(GRBs)may help to reveal the mechanism of underlying processes from the central *** investigate whether the self-organized criticality(SOC)phenomena exist in the prompt phase of GRBs,we statistically study the proper ties of GRBs with more than 3 pulses in each burst by fitting the distributions of several observed physical variables with a Markov Chain Monte Carlo approach,including the isotropic energy E_(iso),the duration time T,and the peak count rate P of each *** sample consists of 454 pulses in 93 GRBs observed by the CGRO/BATSE *** best-fitting values and uncertainties for these power-law indices of the differential frequency distributions are:α_(E)^(d)=1.54±0.09,α_(T)^(d)=1.82_(-0.15)^(+0.14)andα_(P)^(d)=2.09_(-0.19)^(0.18),while the power-law indices in the cumulative frequency distributions are:α_(E)^(c)=1.44_(-0.10)^(+0.08),α_(T)^(c)=1.75_(-0.13)^(0.11)andα_(P)^(c)=1.99_(-0.19)^(+0.16).We find that these distributions are roughly consistent with the physical framework of a Fractal-Diffusive,Self^Organized Criticality(FD-SOC)system with the spatial dimension S=3 and the classical diffusionβ=*** results support that the jet responsible for the GRBs should be magnetically dominated and magnetic instabilities(e.g.,kink model,or tearing-model instability)lead the GRB emission region into the SOC state.
