Comparison of the predictive value of the Helsinki,Rotterdam,and Stockholm CT scores in predicting 6-month outcomes in patients with blunt traumatic brain injuries

Purpose:Despite advances in modern medicine,traumatic brain injuries(TBIs)are still a major medical *** diagnosis of TBI is crucial for clinical decision-making and *** study aims to compare the predictive value of Helsinki,Rotterdam,and Stockholm CT scores in predicting the 6-month outcomes in blunt TBI ***:This cohort study was conducted on blunt TBI patients of 15 years or *** of them were admitted to the surgical emergency department of Shahid Beheshti Hospital in Kashan,Iran from 2020 to 2021 and had abnormal trauma-related findings on brain CT *** patients’demographic data such as age,gender,history of comorbid conditions,mechanism of trauma,Glasgow coma scale,CT images,length of hospital stay,and surgical procedures were *** Helsinki,Rotterdam,and Stockholm CT scores were simultaneously determined according to the existing *** included patients'6-month outcome was determined using the Glasgow outcome scale extended.M Data were analyzed by SPSS software version ***,specificity,negative/positive predictive value and the area under the receiver operating characteristic curve were calculated for each *** Kappa agreement coefficient and Kuder Richardson-20 were used to compare the scoring ***:Altogether 171 TBI patients met the inclusion and exclusion criteria,with the mean age of(44.9±20.2)*** patients were male(80.7%),had traffic related injuries(83.1%)and mild TBIs(64.3%).Patients with lower Glasgow coma scale had higher Helsinki,Rotterdam,and Stockholm CT scores and lower Glasgow outcome scale extended *** all the scoring systems,the Helsinki and Stockholm scores showed the highest agreement in predicting patients’outcomes(kappa=0.657,p<0.001).The Rotterdam scoring system had the highest sensitivity(90.1%)in predicting death of TBI patients,whereas the Helsinki scoring system had the highest sensitivity(89.8%)in predicting the 6-month outcome in TBI

A Cu-Cr alloy with nano and microscale Cr particles produced in a water-cooled copper mold

Microstructures have profound effects on the hardness and strength of Cu-Cr alloys. The microstructures of a Cu-Cr alloy cast in a water-cooled copper mold were studied in the present work. The scanning electron microscopy （SEM） results show that there are the copper matrix saturated with chromium, spherical precipitates of chromium separated from liquid phase during cooling before the initiation of so- lidification, and a eutectic phase in grain boundary areas. To investigate the effect of age-hardening treatment on the microstructures and properties of the material, some samples were subsequently age-hardened in a salt bath and investigated by transmission electron microscopy （TEM）. The results show that coherent precipitates with the diameter of 11 nm are detectable in the samples before and after the age-hardening stage. Of course, the volume fraction of coherent precipitates is higher after the aging process.

Design feasibility of gamma camera without collimator based on specific arrangement of the detectors

In gamma camera and single-photon emission computerized tomography, the collimator removes most photons. Here, a gamma camera without collimator utilizes a specific arrangement of detectors. Instead of bending beams(like a lens) or directing beams(by parallel hole collimator), changes are created in detectors' field of view(FOV), so that each detector's FOV looks different from others. Simulation proved this theory, with 98 detectors(2 cm 9 1.41 cm) arranged in a zigzag manner for Monte Carlo simulation. A radioactive source with energy of140 ke V was situated on the detectors' faces. Sixty projections, each 3(0 –179) apart, were simulated by Monte Carlo N-Particle(MCNP) 4C code, rotating detectors around a radioactive point. The band containing the radioactive source is clearly visible in each *** obtained after simulation in different projections were reconstructed, and point source location emerged correctly. Simulation of gamma camera with zigzag arrangement of detectors and MCNP-4C code demonstrated that one could string the space and determine radioactive source by image reconstruction without using collimators, solely through these special detectors' distribution.

An analysis of association of personality traits with job burnout among nurses working in hospital

Objective:The objective of the present study is to explore the effects of personality traits on job burnout among hospital *** and Methods:This cross-sectional research was done during 2019-2020 at Kashan Shahid Beheshti *** data analysis procedures included descriptive statistics and the partial least squares-based structural equation *** participants were 150 nursing professionals.A questionnaire indicating information on demographics,burnout(measured using the Maslach Burnout Inventory with three dimensions of depersonalization,emotional exhaustion,and personal accomplishment),and personality profile(measured employing the neuroticism extraversion openness five-factor inventory including extroversion,conscientiousness,agreeableness,neuroticism,and openness to experience dimensions)was used to gather the required ***:The results of the study showed that the validity and reliability of the measurement model were desirable(factor load higher than 0.5,the Cronbach’s alpha value and the composite reliability are>0.7).Structural model showed statistically drastic,negative relationship between the nurses’burnout levels and neuroticism(β=0.722)and openness to experience(β=0.437).However,the relationship was significantly positive between the nurses’burnout levels and conscientiousness(β=0.672),agreement(β=0.594),and extraversion(β=0.559)(P<0.03).Conclusions:The present study helped the recognition of burnout among nurses working in hospitals and approved the effects of personality features on the burnout experience.

Analysis of dynamic wave model for flood routing in natural rivers

Flooding is a common natural disaster that causes enormous economic, social, and human losses. Of various flood routing methods, the dynamic wave model is one of the best approaches for the prediction of the characteristics of floods during their propagations in natural rivers because all of the terms of the momentum equation are considered in the model. However, no significant research has been conducted on how the model sensitivity affects the accuracy of the downstream hydrograph. In this study, a comprehensive analysis of the input parameters 9f the dynamic wave model was performed through field applications in natural rivers and routing experiments in artificial channels using the graphical multi-parametric sensitivity analysis （GMPSA）. The results indicate that the effects of input parameter errors on the output results are more significant in special situations, such as lower values of Manning＇s roughness coefficient and/or a steeper bed slope on the characteristics of a design hydrograph, larger values of the skewness factor and/or time to peak on the channel characteristics, larger values of Manning＇s roughness coefficient and/or the bed slope on the space step, and lower values of Manning＇s roughness coefficient and/or a steeper bed slope on the time step and weighting factor.

Epidemiological, molecular characterization and risk factors of human brucellosis in Iran

Objective:To determine epidemiological,molecular characterization,and potential risk factors of human ***:This descriptive study was carried out in the clinical setting in Iran between 2017 and 2018.A total of 297 participants enrolled in the *** sample size was calculated based on the occurrence rate of brucellosis in different *** were assessed using serological tests and conventional culture *** and multiplex PCR methods typed all of Brucella *** risk factors of disease were ***:A total of 141 of 297(47.5%)Brucella strains were isolated and all of them were detected as Brucella melitensis biovar *** on serologic titers,high culture positivity was recorded at 1/640 titer(P<0.006).The risk factors for brucellosis were patients older than 40 years(OR=2.23,95%CI:1.4-3.55,P=0.001),animal keeper(OR=7,95%CI:1.51-32.41,P=0.005),housewife(OR=8.76,95%CI:1.85-41.37,P=0.002),farmer(OR=6.42,95%CI:1.21-33.97,P=0.019),and contact with animal(OR=1.31,95%CI:0.60-2.85,P=0.005).Conclusions:To the best of our knowledge,this is the first comprehensive report from Iran presenting the detection of Brucella species by the multiplex *** melitensis biovar 1 is still the dominant causative agent in *** consumption of unpasteurized dairy products,living in rural areas,and animal contact were risk factors of brucellosis.

Thermodynamic Stability, Half-Metallic and Optical Properties of Sc_(2)CoSi [001] Film:a DFT Study

The electronic and optical characteristics of the Sc2 CoSi Heusler with L21 structure and also the surface effect on electronic and optical properties, and the ?lms thermodynamic stability of the [001] direction in four cases including:Sc-Sc, Sc-Co, Sc-Si and Co-Si terminations are studied using the ?rst principles calculations(FPLAPW) within the framework of the density functional theory(DFT). The band structure calculations represent the ferromagnetic halfmetallic properties with 100% spin polarization and 0.54 e V indirect gap in spin down for Sc2 CoSi bulk with optimized lattice parameters of 6.25 A?. The total magnetic moment obtained for this compound is-1.0 μB, which is in accordance with Slater-Pauling rule. The half-metallic(HM) behavior by 100% spin polarization at Fermi level is occurred in the Sc-Si termination with a 0.32 eV gap in down spin. The optical responses have been calculated for the bulk and ScSi termination by a red shift in these parameters and the metallic treatments have been increased. According to the thermodynamic phase diagrams, it is shown the Sc-Si and Sc-Sc terminations are more stable than other terminations.

Vacuum Packaging Sensor Based on Time-Resolved Phosphorescence Spectroscopy

Intelligent food packaging with the multisensory analysis is promising as the next generation technology of food *** oxygen content in food packaging is one of the crucial parameters affecting the food quality and shelf *** is among the most nutritious and costly food ***,a photonic oxygen-sensing system,based on the time-resolved phosphorescence spectroscopy of a platinum complex,is developed for non-contact,non-intrusive,and real-time vacuum packaging quality control,and implemented for caviar *** sensor is embedded in protective polyethylene layers and excited with a short-pulsed light emitting diode(LED)*** of a blue pulsed light source,a fast and amplified silicon photodiode controlled by the Spartan-6 field programmable gate array(FPGA),and a long lifetime platinum complex results in a photonics-based oxygen sensor with a fast response and high sensitivity to the vacum packaging damage,which is suitable for *** is revealed that applying the polyethylene layers protects the caviar from the platinum complex,leaching while not interfering with the sensor *** the photonic system based on its sensitivity,repeatability,stability,and long-term operation demonstrates its capability for this application.
