Gastric duplication cyst mimicking large cystic lymphangioma in an adult: A rare case report and review of the literature

BACKGROUND Gastric duplication cysts(GDCs)are a relatively uncommon congenital developmental abnormality,mainly occurring in infants but very rarely in *** of the variability in clinical presentation,it is often quite challenging to diagnose GDCs in *** are presenting a case report of an adult diagnosed operatively as having a GDC with a literature review to summarize clinical and imaging features and the treatment selections of GDCs in adults so that doctors could have a comprehensive understanding of this disease and make a precise diagnosis and a suitable therapeutic decision for *** SUMMARY A 51-year-old man presented with recurrent epigastric pain and fullness for two *** significant findings were noted during physical examination and routine blood tests were *** abdominal ultrasound revealed a large cyst in the upper left abdominal quadrant.A following contrast-enhanced abdominal computed tomography(CT)scan demonstrated a hypodense cystic lesion between the spleen and *** lesion had scattered calcification in the cyst wall without any significant *** lesion was initially thought to be a cystic *** patient underwent a surgical resection and intraoperatively it was noted that the lesion was closely adherent to the greater curvature of the ***,a resection of the gastric mass along with a partial gastrectomy was *** patient recovered quickly with a complete symptomatic relief and did not show any further complications during the 8-month *** GDCs are quite rare in adults,with a multitude of symptoms,which is quite challenging for precise diagnosis before histological *** imaging techniques involving CT,magnetic resonance imaging,and endoscopic ultrasound could provide valuable morphological features for differential diagnosis.

Probabilistic back-analysis of rainfall-induced landslides for slope reliability prediction with multi-source information

Probabilistic back-analysis is an important means to infer the statistics of uncertain soil parameters,making the slope reliability assessment closer to the engineering ***,multi-source information(including test data,monitored data,field observation and slope survival records)is rarely used in current probabilistic *** the probabilistic back-analysis of spatially varying soil parameters and slope reliability prediction under rainfalls by integrating multi-source information is a challenging task since thousands of random variables and high-dimensional likelihood function are usually *** this paper,a framework by integrating a modified Bayesian Updating with Subset simulation(mBUS)method with adaptive Conditional Sampling(aCS)algorithm is established for the probabilistic back-analysis of spatially varying soil parameters and slope reliability *** this framework,the high-dimensional probabilistic back-analysis problem can be easily tackled,and the multi-source information(*** pressure heads and slope survival records)can be fully used in the back-analysis.A real Taoyuan landslide case in Taiwan,China is investigated to illustrate the effectiveness and performance of the established *** findings show that the posterior knowledge of soil parameters obtained from the established framework is in good agreement with the field ***,the updated knowledge of soil parameters can be utilized to reliably predict the occurrence probability of a landslide caused by the heavy rainfall event on September 12,2004 or forecast the potential landslides under future rainfalls in the Fuhsing District of Taoyuan City,Taiwan,China.

Radiological insights of ectopic thyroid in the porta hepatis: A case report and review of the literature

BACKGROUND Ectopic thyroid is defined as a rare developmental anomaly where thyroid tissues are atypically found in locations other than its normal anatomical position:Anterolateral to the second,third,and fourth tracheal *** intemperate descent or a migration failure of the thyroid anlage results in sub-diaphragmatic thyroid ectopia,a sparse clinical *** SUMMARY This case portrays a 63-year-old female patient presenting with chronic abdominal discomfort at a local hospital whereby a computed tomography(CT)scan revealed a well-defined mass in the hepatic *** further examination,the patient underwent a CT scan with contrast,magnetic resonance imaging(MRI),and CT-angiography(CTA)at our *** CT scan showed a welldefined and high attenuated mass measuring 43 mm×38 mm in the hepatic entrance with *** CTA revealed an additional finding:Blood supply to the mass from the right hepatic *** of the upper abdomen demonstrated a mass with mixed signal intensity on T1 and T2 weighted images in the hepatic *** patient underwent surgery with resection of the mass which was sent for *** thyroid at the level of porta hepatis with nodules was the definitive diagnosis since histopathological report revealed presence of thyroid tissue in the resected liver *** This case delivers a rare insight of pre-operative radiological imaging of an ectopic thyroid located in the *** findings can aid in narrowing down potential differential diagnosis when managing a patient with those subsequent findings.

During the past decade,laparoscopic distal pancreatectomy(LDP)has gained increasing acceptance in the surgical community as a viable treatment option for distal pancreatic ***,the possible complication of post-LDP pancreatic leakage remains a challenge,because it may lead to a series of events resulting in intraperitoneal abscess formation,sepsis,pseudoaneurysm formation,and occasional fatal *** with these complications is extremely difficult and not much experience has been reported to *** report a case involving the aforementioned post-LDP complications successfully managed by interventional radiological techniques while avoiding *** conclude that these management options are attractive,safe and minimally invasive alternatives to standard protocols.

Catalyst–support interaction plays a crucial role in improving the catalytic activity of oxygen evolution reaction(OER).Here we modulate the catalyst–support interaction in polyaniline-supported Ni_(3)Fe oxide(Ni_(3)Fe oxide/PANI)with a robust hetero-interface,which significantly improves oxygen evolution activities with an overpotential of 270 mV at 10 mA cm^(-2)and specific activity of 2.08 mA cm_(ECSA)^(-2)at overpotential of 300 mV,3.84-fold that of Ni_(3)Fe *** is revealed that the catalyst–support interaction between Ni_(3)Fe oxide and PANI support enhances the Ni–O covalency via the interfacial Ni–N bond,thus promoting the charge and mass transfer on Ni_(3)Fe *** the excellent activity and stability,rechargeable Zn-air batteries with optimum Ni_(3)Fe oxide/PANI are assembled,delivering a low charge voltage of 1.95 V to cycle for 400 h at 10 mA cm^(-2).The regulation of the effect of catalyst–support interaction on catalytic activity provides new possibilities for the future design of highly efficient OER catalysts.

韧性作为一种新的灾害风险管理理念,已成为防灾减灾领域的研究热点,考虑到医疗系统在城市运行和灾后救援中的重要作用,在地震期间和之后,区域医疗系统应该具有足够的韧性,并提供连续的医疗服务。如何综合考虑区域范围内多家医院和交通系统的安全性、应急响应能力、多系统的整合与协作,有效评估区域医疗系统的抗震韧性水平,并提出科学的改进建议,对建设韧性城乡具有重要的理论意义。本文通过梳理国内外文献,阐明了区域医疗系统韧性的概念和内涵,总结了地震后短期应急和长期修复两个阶段韧性评估的重点,归纳了现有区域医疗系统韧性的评估框架,从医院集群系统、面向医疗的交通系统、应急医疗服务系统和医疗-交通耦合系统4个方面阐述了现有评估方法。区域医疗系统韧性的研究旨在提高其面对灾害时的抵抗性、短期适应性和长期恢复性,这些研究对于满足紧急和日常的医疗需求以及指导灾后恢复具有重要意义。目前区域医疗系统抗震韧性的研究取得了一些进展,但仍然存在一些挑战,本文最后展望了未来的研究方向。
