Let π=π1-π2 be the difference of two independent proportions related to two populations. We study the test H0:π≥0 against different alternatives, in the Bayesian context. The various Bayesian approaches use standard beta distributions, and are simple to derive and compute. But the more general test H0:π≥η, with η>0, requires more advanced mathematical tools to carry out the computations. These tools, which include the density of the difference of two general beta variables, are presented in the article, with numerical examples for illustrations to facilitate comprehension of results.

Assessment of Salinity Intrusion in the Red River under the Effect of Climate Change

this paper focuses on analysis of salinity distribution along Red River and its main branches to determine and limit effects of salinity intrusion under variable scenarios for outlet discharge from upstream reservoirs and the tidal magnitude under global climate change effects. The effect of outlet discharge from upstream reservoirs, which generates flow in droughty months, is considered as upstream input condition for salinity intrusion. The sea level rising phenomenon is represented by scenarios according to prediction of the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change （IPCC）. The lateral flow and the rainfall in dry season are neglected in the process of simulation. MIKE 11, ID river model software by DHI （Danish Hydraulic Institute）, is used to simulate the processes of salt water intrusion from the river mouths to the upstream of the river in consideration the effect of the Sea Level Rise phenomenon and the operation of existing reservoirs and those under construction. The results indicate that salinity intrusion length from river mouth depends on the estuary characteristics, discharges from upper reservoirs and tidal phases （low and high tides）. With the safe salinity concentration for agriculture and livestock is 4 psu, the study shows that the length of intruded salt in Red River is about 40km from the river mouth, in otherwise, the effect of salinity intrusion in Thai Binh river is negligible. The Sea Level Rise phenomenon has inconsiderable affects on salinity intrusion processes in Red River System. The influence of outlet discharges from upstream reservoirs has also negligible affects on prevent salinity intrusion from the sea. According to the results of the study, reasonable water resources utilization and appropriate reservoir operation approaches in the drought will be studied to protect the crop and aquaculture from salinity intrusion.

Animal models are commonly used to analyze the mechanism of carcinogenesis as well as the development and screening of potent drugs. Although numerous animal models of breast cancer have been used in research, few display multiple stages of tumorigenesis. The transgenic strain FVB/N-Tg(MMTV-PyVT) 634 Mul/J (also known as PyVT) was established to determine the effect of mammary gland-specific expression of the polyomavirus middle T antigen. Here the PyVT model with three distinct stages of tumor development (Pre, Early, and Late stages) was used as a model system for measuring tumor growth, tumor burden, and metastasis of mammary carcinomas. Additionally the expression profile of the molecular markers, survivin and Ki-67, was determined. Three antineoplastic compounds were tested over a 14-day period to determine their efficacy at attenuating tumor growth at each stage of development. Interestingly cisplatin and paclitaxel were determined to be ineffective anticancer drugs, while tamoxifen significantly reduced tumor growth in the Pre and Early stages of tumor formation.

Seroprevalence of <i>Mycoplasma bovis</i>Infection in Dairy Cows in Ho Chi Minh, Vietnam

A cross-sectional study was carried out to investigate the seroprevalence of M. bovis. A total of 606 serum samples were randomly collected from dairy cows in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam. Commercial ELISA kit was used for detection of antibody to M. bovis. The results indicated that overall seroprevalence was 80.2% (486/606). There were no significant differences between regions or age categories (P > 0.05). Degree of infection to M. bovis commonly distributed at positive degree 1 (68.5%) and 2 (24.1%). Seroprevalence at highest positive degree 4 were found in District 9, District 12 and thu Duc (6.7%, 6.3% and 1.6%, respectively). this study is the first report of seroprevalence of M. bovis in Vietnam. The results suggested that M. bovis was spreading among dairy cow populations although degree of positivity was low. It should be considered as a high risk pathogen to dairy cows in Vietnam.

Plants which contain unisexual flowers are subjected to genetic degradation and yield capacity reduction due to the easily *** gourd,one of species of the Cucurbitaceae which is predominantly cross-pollinating,is cultivated to widely use as vegetable in Vietnamese daily *** aim of this experiment was to evaluate the growth potential and fruit quality including fruit aroma of sponge gourd inbred *** line selection has been performed using self-pollinated method,so that sponge gourd lines would be recovered with high yielding and aroma and thereby recommended for further crop system in thua thien Hue province,Central *** experiment was conducted in a randomized complete block design(RCBD)with three replications during the winter-spring season in *** data were observed and analyzed on seven inbred lines(1-MN1,1-MN2,5-MN1,7-MN1,13-MN2,15-MN1 and 15-MN2)derived from B29 accession(GBVN006904).The results indicated that inbred lines 13-MN2,1-MN2 and 15-MN1 attained more highly fruit weight and yield compared to the *** inbred lines consisting of 5-MN1,7-MN1,15-MN1 and 15-MN2 still retained the light aroma after *** inbred lines 1-MN2,7-MN1,13-MN2 and 15-MN1 are considered for appropriately using in breeding program of new luffa.

In Vietnam,rainfall data usually received using daily rainfall at all hydrology stations with higher time resolution are ***,its analyses to achieve IDF(Intensity-Duration-Frequency)curves are often required at a finer scale such as ***,it needs to develop and apply methods to derive the IDF characteristics of short-duration events from daily rainfall statistics in *** recent years,the need for new insights into the rainfall process leading to new approaches to model the distribution of rainfall intensities in time and space was *** research aims to establish IDF curves for monsoon climate area in Vietnam based on scaling *** properties of extreme rainfall are examined in the Red River Delta of Vietnam in order to establish scaling behavior of statistical moments over different *** scaling or scale-invariant models enable us to scale data from one temporal resolution to another,and thus,help to overcome the lack of the extreme rainfall data of sub-daily *** disaggregation or downscaling techniques are used to obtain sub-daily rainfall data from daily rainfall data for the derivation of scaled IDF *** results show that most of rainfall amount(approximately 70%)received from rains occurring between 6:0 pm to 6:0 am of the day after that,the daytime usually less rainfall occurrence with only 30%.The peak rainfall is usually occurred during 0:0 am to 4:0 am having approximately 42.98%of rainfall amount over a *** peak rainfall likely happen earlier in the recent year(36%rainfall amount over a day occurrence from 6:00 pm to 10:00 pm in 2008).The analysis also illustrated that approximately 40%of rainfall events have duration less than 60 *** contrast,only approximately 9%of rainfall events have duration more than 6 hours but total rainfall depths of these events is approximately.

Along with the concept, the method of assessing the vulnerability is becoming more and more diversified in many directions and fields. In general, these methods can be classified into two groups：（i） direct-qualitative （survey methods, integrated map ...） and （ii） indirectly-quantitative （method index）. The set of indicator plays a very important role in the successful application to any method and brings reliable results. Each basin or area with different natural geography, economics and society and so on, requires a different set of indicator. However, assessing any river basin in Vietnam needs the basic indicator. this study will establish the basic indicator for the construction of flood vulnerability index in Vietnam.

In this work, we investigated resistive switching behavior of CrOx thin films grown by using sputtering technique. Conventional I-V measurements obtained from Ag/CrOx/Pt/Ti/SiO2/Si structures depict the bipolar switching behavior, which is controlled by formation/dissolution processes of Ag conducting filaments through electrochemical redox reaction under external electric field driven. Conductive atomic force microscopy (C-AFM) technique provides the valuable mapping images of existing Ag filaments at low resistance state as well as the characteristics of filament distributions and diameters. this study also reveals that where the higher amplitude of topography is, the easier possibility of forming conducting filament paths is on CrOx surface films.

A distributed conceptual model(FRASC(Flow Routed Accumulation Simulation in a Catchment))has been developed,in which a rainfall-runoff module is modified from an original lumped conceptual model(Xinanjiang)via a GIS(Geographic Information System)-aided approach and a water allocation module contains reservoirs,water users and hydropower *** model is relatively easy to use and can easily obtain input data,but still has the ability to generate hydrological information at many points within a *** model application to the Be River basin is evaluated and shows to be reliable in terms of close agreements between simulated and observed *** natural flow rates for 36 years are simulated at 7,981 grid cells within a studied area of 7,650 km^*** on this simulated database,design discharges are predicted in various ***,the research determines that the water transfer capacity from the Be River basin to the Saigon River basin reaches 14%,18% and 23% of a planned value of 75 m^3/s during the dry period in a wet year(P10%),average year(P50%)and dry year(P90%),respectively.
