＜正＞This paper studies the stabilization to ISS（input-to-state stability） issue for discrete-time impulsive hybrid systems （DIHS） with mixed -dissipativity ***,the new concept of mixed -dissipativity is proposed for ***,the criteria of stabilization in the sense of ISS are derived for mixed（?）-dissipative *** shows that for a mixed（?）-dissipative DIHS,under the same state feedback control,even if all subsystems have no ISS,the whole DIHS may still has ISS property. The results are then used to study the case of network via impulsive *** linear matrix inequality（LMI） conditions for -dissipativity of every DIHS in the network under the mixed quadratic supply rate are ***,the interconnection control is designed to stabilize the network to ***,one example is given for illustration.

Background: The Air Force Health Study collected reproductive outcomes for live-born children of male Air Force veterans of the Vietnam War. Methods: Dioxin values for participants were obtained from blood samples. Analyses were conducted of occurrence of 16 specific categories of birth defects and developmental disabilities. Children were categorized as conceived before and after the start of participants’ Vietnam War service. Children conceived before the start of Vietnam War service were treated as being conceived when their fathers had unquantifiable dioxin values. Children conceived after the start of Vietnam War service for participants with missing dioxin values were excluded from primary analyses, but were used to assess the impact of their exclusion on conclusions. Correlation between values for specific categories for multiple children fathered by the same participant was accounted for. The dose-response relationship was treated as a step function increasing for dioxin values larger than adaptively identified individual thresholds changing with the specific category. Results: For 15 of 16 specific categories, the probability of occurrence increased substantially for a sufficiently high dioxin level above identified thresholds. Exclusion of children due to missing dioxin likely did not affect these results. Conclusions: Results supported the conclusion of substantial adverse effects on a wide variety of specific categories of birth defects and developmental disabilities due to sufficiently high exposures to dioxin, a toxic contaminant of Agent Orange used for herbicide spraying in the Vietnam War. Results may hold more generally, but might also have been affected by a variety of limitations.

Adaptive fractional polynomial modeling of general correlated outcomes is formulated to address nonlinearity in means, variances/dispersions, and correlations. Means and variances/dispersions are modeled using generalized linear models in fixed effects/coefficients. Correlations are modeled using random effects/coefficients. Nonlinearity is addressed using power transforms of primary (untransformed) predictors. Parameter estimation is based on extended linear mixed modeling generalizing both generalized estimating equations and linear mixed modeling. Models are evaluated using likelihood cross-validation (LCV) scores and are generated adaptively using a heuristic search controlled by LCV scores. Cases covered include linear, Poisson, logistic, exponential, and discrete regression of correlated continuous, count/rate, dichotomous, positive continuous, and discrete numeric outcomes treated as normally, Poisson, Bernoulli, exponentially, and discrete numerically distributed, respectively. Example analyses are also generated for these five cases to compare adaptive random effects/coefficients modeling of correlated outcomes to previously developed adaptive modeling based on directly specified covariance structures. Adaptive random effects/coefficients modeling substantially outperforms direct covariance modeling in the linear, exponential, and discrete regression example analyses. It generates equivalent results in the logistic regression example analyses and it is substantially outperformed in the Poisson regression case. Random effects/coefficients modeling of correlated outcomes can provide substantial improvements in model selection compared to directly specified covariance modeling. However, directly specified covariance modeling can generate competitive or substantially better results in some cases while usually requiring less computation time.

Context: Pulmonary artery catheters(PACs) have been used to guide therapy in multiple settings, but recent studies have raised concerns that PACs may lead to increased mortality in hospitalized patients. Obj.ctive: To determine whether PAC use is safe and improves clinical outcomes in patients hospitalized with severe symptomatic and recurrent heart failure. Design, Setting, and Participants: The Evaluation Study of Congestive Heart Failure and Pulmonary Artery Catheterization Effectiveness(ESCAPE) was a randomized controlled trial of 433 patients at 26 sites conducted from j.nuary 18, 2000, to November 17, 2003. Patients were assigned to receive therapy guided by clinical assessment and a PAC or clinical assessment alone. The target in both groups was resolution of clinical congestion, with additional PAC targets of a pulmonary capillary wedge pressure of 15 mm Hg and a right atrial pressure of 8 mm Hg. Medications were not specified, but inotrope use was explicitly discouraged. Main Outcome Measures: The primary end point was days alive out of the hospital during the first 6 months, with secondary end points of exercise, quality of life, biochemical, and echocardiographic changes. Results: Severity of illness was reflected by the following values: average left ventricular ej.ction fraction, 19% ; systolic blood pressure, 106 mm Hg; sodium level, 137 mEq/L; urea nitrogen, 35 mg/dL(12.40 mmol/L); and creatinine, 1.5 mg/dL(132.6 μ mol/L). Therapy in both groups led to substantial reduction in symptoms, j.gular venous pressure, and edema. Use of the PAC did not significantly affect the primary end point of days alive and out of the hospital during the first 6 months(133 days vs 135 days; hazard ratio HR , 1.00 95% confidence interval {CI}, 0.82-1.21 ; P=.99), mortality(43 patients 10% vs 38 patients 9% ; odds ratio OR , 1.26 95% CI, 0.78-2.03 ; P=.35), or the number of days hospitalized(8.7 vs 8.3; HR, 1.04 95% CI, 0.86-1.27 ; P=.67).
