A facile method for the synthesis of pillar[6]arenes was developed. A series of pillar[6]arenes were prepared with FeC13 as catalyst and chloroform as solvent at room temperature in moderate yields （30%-40%）. Their host-guest properties with n-cetyltrimethyl ammonium bromide were investigated by 1 HNMR. The results showed that high selectivity in the host-guest relationship became apparent between pillar[6]arenes and pillar[5]arenes based on the different size of the inner cavity.

Distributional congruence of mammalian herbivores in the Trans-Himalayan Mountains

Large-scale distribution and diversity patterns of mammalian herbivores, especially less charismatic species in alpine environments remain little understood. We studied distributional congruence of mammalian herbivores in the Trans-Himalayan region of Ladakh to see if the distributions of less prominent and smaller herbivores can be determined from those of larger and more prominent herbivores like ungulates. Using a similarity index, we assessed shared distributions of species in 20x20 km2 grid-cells in an area of about 80,000 km2. We used the Unweighted Pair-Group Method with Arithmetic Average （UPGMA） to classify mammalian herbivores into groups with similar distributions. We then used the G-test of independence to look for statistical significance of the groups obtained. We identified six groups of mammalian herbivores with distributions more similar than ex- pected at random. The largest group was composed of nine species whereas the other large group comprised six species. Canonical Correspondence Analysis （CCA）, used to relate the groups with environmental features, showed that the largest group occurred in higher and flatter areas, while the other large group occurred in lower and steeper areas. Large herbivores like ungulates can be used as surrogate for less prominent small herbivores while identifying areas for latter＇s protection in the inaccessible mountainous re- gions of the Trans-Himalaya [Current Zoology 59 （1）： 116-124, 2013].

Olivine, one of the most abundant minerals existing in nature, is explored as a C02 carbonation agent for direct carbonation of C02 in flue gas. Olivine based C02 capture is thermodynamically favorable and can form a stable carbonate for long-term storage. Experimental results have shown that water vapor plays an important role in improving CO/carbonation rate and capacities. Other operation conditions including reaction temperature, initial C02 concentration, residence time corresponding to the flow rate of C02 gas stream, and water vapor concentration also considerably affect the performance of the technology.

Diketopyrrolopyrrole based D-π-A-π-D type small organic molecules as hole transporting materials for perovskite solar cells

Three novel diketopyrrolopyrrole （DPP） based small organic molecules were synthesized as hole transporting materials for perovskite solar cells. The effects of different donors and zr bridges on the performance of perovskite solar cells （PSCs） were discussed. The efficiency of TPADPP-1, TPADPP-2. PTZDPP-2 was 5.10%, 9.85% and 8.16% respectively. Compared to TPADPP-2, the voltage of PTZDPP-2 was higher. Because the electron-donatingability of phenothiazine based donor was larger than that of triphenylamine based donor, the HOMO level of PTZDPP-2 was lower than that of TPADPP-2. The results indicated that the diketopyrrolopyrrole based D-π-A-π-D type small organic molecule might be a promising hole trans- porting material in the perovskite solar cells.

A novel process of fabricating aluminium matrix composites(AMCs)with requisite properties by dispersing rutile particles in the aluminum matrix was studied.A novel bi-stage stir casting method was employed to prepare composites,by varying the mass fractions of the rutile particles as 1%,2%,3%and 4%in AA6061 *** density,tensile strength,hardness and microstructures of composites were ***-stage stir casting method engendered AMCs with uniform distribution of the reinforced rutile particles in the AA6061 *** was confirmed by the enhancement of the properties of AMCs over the parent base ***-reinforced AMCs exhibited higher tensile strength and hardness as compared with unreinforced parent *** properties of the composites were enhanced with the increase in the mass fraction of the rutile ***,beyond 3 wt.%of rutile particles,the tensile strength *** hardness and tensile strength of the AMCs reinforced with 3 wt.%of rutile were improved by 36%and 14%respectively in comparison with those of matrix alone.

The gut microbiota is a complex and plastic consortium of microorganisms that are intricately connected with human *** liver is a central immunological organ that is particularly enriched in innate immune cells and constantly exposed to circulating nutrients and endotoxins derived from the gut *** delicate interaction between the gut and liver prevents accidental immune activation against otherwise harmless *** on the interplay between the gut microbiota and liver has assisted in understanding the pathophysiology of various liver *** immense importance is the step from high-throughput sequencing(correlation)to mechanistic studies(causality)and therapeutic ***,we review the gut microbiota,liver immunology,and the interaction between the gut and *** addition,the impairment in the gut-liver axis found in various liver diseases is reviewed here,with an emphasis on alcohol-associated liver disease(ALD),nonalcoholic fatty liver disease(NAFLD),and autoimmune liver disease(AILD).On the basis of growing evidence from these preclinical studies,we propose that the gut-liver axis paves the way for targeted therapeutic modalities for liver diseases.

AIM:To assess the effect of nitric oxide (NO) on the large conductance potassium channel (BKCa) in isolated circular (CM) and sling (SM) muscle cells and muscle strips from the cat lower esophageal sphincter (LES) to determine its regulation of resting tone and ***:Freshly enzymatically-digested and isolated circular smooth muscle cells were prepared from each LES *** study outward K + currents,the perforated patch clamp technique was *** assess LES resting tone and relaxation,muscle strips were mounted in perfused organ ***:(1) Electrophysiological recordings from isolated cells:(a) CM was more depolarized than SM (-39.7 ± 0.8mV vs-48.1 ± 1.6 mV,P 0.05);(b) The NO donor sodium nitroprusside (SNP) increased outward currents only in CM (25.9 ± 1.9 to 46.7 ± 4.2 pA/pF,P 0.05);(c) SNP added in the presence of the BK Ca antagonist iberiotoxin (IbTX) produced no increase in the outward current in CM (17.0 ± 2.8 vs 13.7 ± 2.2,P > 0.05);and (d) L-NNA caused a small insignificant inhibition of outward K + currents in both muscles;and (2) Muscle strip studies:(a) Blockade of the nerves with tetrodotoxin (TTX),or BK Ca with IbTX had no significant effect on resting tone of either muscle;and (b) SNP reduced tone in both muscles,and was unaffected by the presence of TTX or ***:Exogenous NO activates BK Ca only in CM of the ***,as opposed to other species,exogenous NO-induced relaxation is predominantly by a non-BK Ca mechanism,and endogenous NO has minimal effect on resting tone.

Data-driven modeling of power generation for a coal power plant under cycling

Increased penetration of renewables for power generation has negatively impacted the dynamics of conventional fossil fuel-based power *** power plants operating on the base load are forced to cycle,to adjust to the fluctuating power *** results in an inefficient operation of the coal power plants,which leads up to higher operating *** overcome such operational challenge associated with cycling and to develop an optimal process control,this work analyzes a set of models for predicting power ***,the power generation is intrinsically affected by the state of the power plant components,and therefore our model development also incorporates additional power plant process variables while forecasting the power *** present and compare multiple state-of-the-art forecasting data-driven methods for power generation to determine the most adequate and accurate *** also develop an interpretable attention-based transformer model to explain the importance of process variables during training and *** trained deep neural network(DNN)LSTM model has good accuracy in predicting gross power generation under various prediction horizons with/without cycling events and outperforms the other models for long-term *** DNN memory-based models show significant superiority over other state-of-the-art machine learning models for short,medium and long range *** transformer-based model with attention enhances the selection of historical data for multi-horizon forecasting,and also allows to interpret the significance of internal power plant components on the power *** newly gained insights can be used by operation engineers to anticipate and monitor the health of power plant equipment during high cycling periods.
