Brain aging is typically associated with a significant decline in cognitive *** risk factors(VRF)and subsequent atherosclerosis(AS)play a m.jor role in this *** resilience reflects the brain’s ability to withstand external perturbations,but the relationship of brain resilience with cognition during the aging process rem.ins ***,we investigated how brain topological resilience(BTR)is associated with cognitive perform.nce in the face of aging and vascular risk *** used data from.two cross-ethnicity com.unity cohorts,PolyvasculaR Evaluation for Cognitive Im.airm.nt and Vascular Events(PRECISE,n=2220)and Sydney m.m.ry and Ageing Study(m.S,n=246).We conducted an attack sim.lation on brain structural networks based on k-shell decom.osition and node degree *** was defined based on changes in the size of the largest subgroup of the network during the sim.lation ***,we explored the negative correlations of BTR with age,VRF,and AS,and its positive correlation with cognitive ***,using structural equation m.deling(SEm.,we constructed path m.dels to analyze the directional dependencies am.ng these variables,dem.nstrating that aging,AS,and VRF affect cognition by disrupting *** results also indicated the specificity of this m.tric,independent of brain ***,these findings underscore the supportive role of BTR on cognition during aging and highlight its potential application as an im.ging m.rker for objective assessm.nt of brain cognitive perform.nce.

Developm.nt of genom.c tools to identify fem.les with high genetic m.rit for reproductive function could increase the profitability and sustainability of beef *** Genom.-wide association studies(GWAS) were perform.d using a single-step genom.c best linear unbiased prediction approach on pregnancy outcom. traits from.a population of Angus–Brahm.n crossbred heifers. Furtherm.re, a validation GWAS was perform.d using data from.another farm. Heifers were genotyped with the Bovine GGP F250 array that contains 221,077 SNPs. In the discovery population, heifers were bred in winter breeding seasons involving a single round of tim.d artificial insem.nation(AI) followed by natural m.ting for 3 m.nths. Two phenotypes were analyzed: pregnancy outcom. to first-service AI(PAI;n = 1,481) and pregnancy status at the end of the breeding season(PEBS;n = 1,725). The heritability was estim.ted as 0.149 and 0.122 for PAI and PEBS, respectively. In the PAI m.del, one quantitative trait locus(QTL), located between 52.3 and 52.5 m. on BTA7, explained about 3% of the genetic variation, in a region containing a cluster of γ-protocadherin genes and SLC25A2. Other QTLs explaining between 0.5% and 1% of the genetic variation were found on BTA12 and 25. In the PEBS m.del, a large QTL on BTA7 was synonym.us with the QTL for PAI, with m.nor QTLs located on BTA5, 9, 10, 11, 19, and 20. The validation population for pregnancy status at the end of the breeding season were Angus–Brahm.n crossbred heifers bred by natural m.ting. Ewing's sarcom. (ES) is a neoplasm.of undifferentiated sm.ll round cells, which occurs in the bones and deep soft tissues of children and adolescents. We present a rare case of a 44-year-old wom.n with gastric ES presenting with epigastric pain and weight loss. Ultrasound and com.uted tom.graphy scans indicated a solid/cystic m.ss in the pancreatic tail. At laparotom., the tum.r was found attached to the posterior surface of the stom.ch, com.letely free from.the pancreas, with no lym.hadenopathy or local m.tastases. The polynodal, partly pseudocystic, dark-red soft tum.r was excised. Histopathology revealed an anaplastic sm.ll-round-cell tum.r with strong m.m.ranous CD99 im.unoexpression. Additionally, there was patchy im.unostaining for S-100 protein, vim.ntin, protein gene product (PGP) 9.5 and neuron-specifi c enolase, and weak focal CD117 cytoplasm.c im.unoreactivity. The patient had no adjuvant chem.therapy; her postoperative recovery was uneventful, and she rem.ins sym.tom.free, and without any sign of recurrence at 20 m.. To the best of our knowledge, this is only the third ever case of gastric ES.

Introduction: Chemotherapy is used to combat tuberculosis, and other microbial infections. Unfortunately, resistance has been reported to a vast majority of currently use drugs. The objective of this study was to search for new therapies from plant products for the sustainable management of tuberculosis and S. aureus infections. Materials and Methods: Crude extracts were obtained by sequential maceration of dry powdered plant material in three solvents;hexane, dichloromethane and methanol. Phytochemical screening to identify active constituents in the crude extracts was done by conventional methods. The antimycobacterial and antimicrobial activity on M. tuberculosis control strain H37Ra and a clinical isolate of S. aureus respectively, was evaluated at eight different concentrations using the microplatealamar blue assay. Cytotoxicity of the active extracts was evaluated on monkey kidney epithelial cells and assessed using the MTT/formazan assay. The discrete elem.nt m.thod(DEm. has been extensively adopted to investigate m.ny com.lex geotechnical related problem. due to its capability to incorporate the discontinuous nature of granular m.terials. In particular, when sim.lating large deform.tions or distortion of soil(e.g. cavity expansion),DEm.can be very effective as other num.rical solutions m.y experience convergence problem.. Cavity expansion theory has widespread applications in geotechnical engineering, particularly to the problem. concerning in situ testing, pile installation and so forth. In addition, the behaviour of geom.terials in a m.cro-level is utterly determ.ned by m.croscopic properties, highlighting the im.ortance of contact m.dels. Despite the fact that there are num.rous contact m.dels proposed to m.m.c the realistic behaviour of granular m.terials, there are lack of studies on the effects of these contact m.dels on the soil ***, in this study, a series of three-dim.nsional num.rical sim.lations with different contact constitutive m.dels was conducted to sim.late the response of sandy soils during cylindrical cavity expansion. In this num.rical investigation, three contact m.dels, i.e. linear contact m.del, rolling resistance contact m.del,and Hertz contact m.del, are considered. It should be noted that the form.r two m.dels are linear based m.dels, providing linearly elastic and frictional plasticity behaviours, whereas the latter one consists of nonlinear form.lation based on an approxim.tion of the theory of m.ndlin and Deresiewicz. To exam.ne the effects of these contact m.dels, several cylindrical cavities were created and expanded gradually from.an initial radius of 0.055 m.to a final radius of 0.1 m. The num.rical predictions confirm.that the calibrated contact m.dels produced sim.lar results regarding the variations of cavity pressure, radial stress, deviatoric stress, volum.tric strain, as well as the soil radial displacem.nt.
