Higher-order displacement-based finite element methods are useful for simulating bending problems and potentially addressing mesh-locking associated with nearly-incompressible elasticity,yet are computationally *** address the computational expense,the paper presents a matrix-free,displacement-based,higher-order,hexahedral finite element implementation of compressible and nearly-compressible(ν→0.5)linear isotropic elasticity at small strain with p-multigrid *** cost,solve time,and scalability of the implementation with respect to strain energy error are investigated for polynomial order p=1,2,3,4 for compressible elasticity,and p=2,3,4 for nearly-incompressible elasticity,on different number of CpU cores for a tube bending *** the context of this matrix-free implementation,higher-order polynomials(p=3,4)generally are faster in achieving better accuracy in the solution than lower-order polynomials(p=1,2).However,for a beam bending simulation with stress concentration(singularity),it is demonstrated that higher-order finite elements do not improve the spatial order of convergence,even though accuracy is improved.

Introduction: COVID-19 was an emerging disease putting all public health systems in countries around the world in a state of emergency. To be able to prevent its spread and morbidity and mortality, several appropriate strategies were necessary, such as vaccination. The latter has been the subject of controversy. The objective of the present study is therefore to evaluate the factors associated with the acceptance of this vaccine within the population of the Kasenga State Health Area. A result which will shed light on future strategies to be put in place for possible new vaccines. Methodology: Is a prospective and analytical cross-sectional study conducted over a period of approximately 1 month from January 5 to February 5, 2024. A survey questionnaire in Kobotoolbox was useful for collecting data. STATA software was very important for us in analyzing the data collected. Results: prevalence of vaccination against COVID-19 among the population of the Kasenga State Health Area is 37.5% (28.4 - 45.6). The study revealed that reluctance is observed among most of the population for different reasons, including, first and foremost, the deliberate aspect of not wanting to take the vaccine (46.6%) and rumors that this antigen is dangerous and harmful (32.9%). 72.5% of respondents believe that the COVID-19 vaccine is a fabrication, unhealthy and that the disease itself never existed. The study proved that there was a statistical relationship between age (p = 0.001) and adherence to vaccination. And the refusal of respondents to recommend the vaccine to loved ones was a factor associated with non-adherence to vaccination (OR = 7.901, 95% IC [3.028 - 20.615], p = 0.000). Conclusion: Vaccination against COVID-19 was not well accepted by the population of the study site. Raising public awareness and involving community leaders and political-administrative authorities, which has not been done well, would play an important role in the good perception of the disease, of the vaccine

Objective patients with congenital malformations(CMs)of the gastrointestinal tract(GIT)have a very high ***,the literature on the factors associated with mortality in these patients is scarce in sub-Saharan *** aim of this study is to identify independent risk factors for mortality in patients with CMs of the GIT at our pediatric surgical *** We conducted a retrospective analysis of cases with CMs of the GIT managed at a tertiary center from 2018 to *** were subdivided into two groups based on the outcomes,and variables with a significant difference were analyzed by logistic *** Our review included 226 patients,63 of whom died(27.88%).patient age ranged from 0 to 15 *** into account statistical significance,mortality was more frequent in neonates than in older patients(57.30%vs 6.15%),in patients coming out of the Dakar area than in those from the Dakar area(43.75%vs 19.18%),in patients with abnormal prenatal ultrasound than in those with normal ultrasound(100%vs 26.67%),in premature children than in those born at term(78.57%vs 21.87%),in patients with an additional malformation than in those with an isolated malformation(69.23%vs 25.35%),and in those with intestinal,esophageal,duodenal and colonic atresia than in those with other diagnoses(100%,89%,56.25%and 50%,respectively).Referred patients died more than those who changed hospitals or came from home(55.29%vs 25%and 9.09%,respectively).On multivariable logistic regression,two independent factors of mortality were identified:presence of associated malformation[odds ratio(OR)=13.299;95%Confidence interval(CI)1.370 to 129.137]and diagnosis of esophageal atresia(OR=46.529;95%CI 5.828 to 371.425).Conclusion The presence of an associated malformation or diagnosis of esophageal atresia increases mortality in patients with CMs of the GIT in our environment.

The simulation results indicate that the gating system design has a significant effect on the quality of magne- sium *** an effort to obtain the optimal design of gating system,the signal-to-noise （S/N） ratio was used to analyze the effect of various gating designs on cavity filling and casting quality by using a weighting method based on the design of an orthogonal *** gating system parameters,namely,ingate height, ingate width,runner height,runner width,were optimized with a consideration of multiple objective criteria including filling velocity,shrinkage porosity and product yield.

AIM: To investigate modulation of antagonist and agonist binding to adenosine A1receptors by MgCl2and 5'-guanylimidodiphosphate (Gpp（NH）p) using rat brain membranes and the A1antagonist [3H]-8-cyclopentyl-1,3-dipropylxanthine （[3H]DpCpX） and the A1agonist [3H]-2-chloro-N6-cyclopentyladenosine （[3H]CCpA）. METHODS: parallel saturation and inhibition studies were performed using well-characterised radioligand binding assays and a Brandel Cell Harvester. RESULTS: MgCl2produced a concentration-dependent decrease （44%）, whereas Gpp（NH）p increased [3H]DpCpX binding （19%）. In [3H]DpCpX competition studies, agonist affinity was 1.5-14.6-fold higher and 4.6-10-fold lower in the presence of 10 mmol/L MgCl2and 10 μmol/L Gpp（NH）p respectively; antagonist affinity was unaffected. The decrease in agonist affinity with increasing Gpp（NH）p concentrations was due to a reduction in the proportion of binding to the high affinity receptor state. The development of alternative casting processes is essential for the high demand of light weight magnesium components to be used in the automotive industry, which often contain different section thicknesses. Squeeze casting with its inherent advantages has been approved for the capability of minimizing the gas porosity in magnesium alloys. For advanced engineering design of light magnesium automotive applications, it is critical to understand the effect of section thickness on mechanical properties of squeeze cast magnesium alloys. In this study, magnesium alloy AM60 with different section thicknesses of 6, 10 and 20 mm squeeze cast under an applied pressure of 30 Mpa was investigated. The prepared squeeze cast AM60 specimens were tensile tested at room termperature. The results indicate that the mechanical properties including yield strength （YS）, ultimate tensile strength （UTS） and elongation （A） decrease with an increase in section thickness of squeeze cast AM6O. The microstructure analysis shows that the improvement in the tensile behavior of squeeze cast AM60 is primarily attributed to the low-gas porosity level and fine grain strucuture which result from the variation of cooling rate of different section thickness. The numerical simulation （Magmasoft） was employed to determine the solidification rates of each step, and the simulated results show that the solidification rate of the alloy decreases with an increase in the section thickness. The computed solidification rates support the experimental observation on grain structural development.
