Grain phytate,a mixed metal ion salt of inositol hexakisphosphate,accounts for 60%–80%of stored phosphorus in plants and is a potent antinutrient of non-ruminant animals including *** neofunctionalization of purple acid phytases(PAPhy),some cereals such as wheat and rye have acquired particularly high mature grain phytase *** PAPhy activity supplies phosphate,liberates metal ions necessary for seedling emergence,and obviates antinutrient effects of phytate,its manipulation and control are targeted crop *** we show the X-ray crystal structure of the b2 isoform of wheat PAPhy induced during *** high-resolution crystal structure suggests a model for phytate recognition that,validated by molecular dynamics simulations,implicates elements of two sequence inserts(termed PAPhy motifs)relative to a canonical metallophosphoesterase(MPE)domain in forming phytate-specific substrate specificity *** motifs are well conserved in PAPhys from monocot cereals,enzymes which are characterized by high specificity for *** by mutagenesis,residues His229 in PAPhy motif 4 and Lys410 in the MPE domain,both conserved in PAPhys,are found to strongly influence phytase *** results explain the observed phytase activity of cereal PAPhys and open the way to the rational engineering of phytase activity in planta.

Dear Editor, Plant cells are encased by cell walls--rigid yet highly dynamic composite structures, which consist of cellulose, hemicelluloses, pectic polysaccharides, glycoproteins, and the polyphenol lignin （Somerville et al., 2004）. biosynthesis of the wall polysaccharides is facilitated by donor- and acceptor- substrate-specific glycosyltransferases catalyzing the transfer of the sugar moiety from a nucleotide sugar to form a specific glycosidic linkage. Glycosyltransferases have been grouped into families based on primary structure, one of which is fam- ily GT77 （***/GT77_***）.

Nondispersive infrared(NDIR)spectroscopy is an important technology for highly accurate and maintenance-free sensing of gases,such as ethanol and carbon ***,NDIR spectroscopy systems are currently too expensive,e.g.,for consumer and automotive applications,as the infrared(IR)emitter is a critical but costly component of these ***,we report on a low-cost large-area IR emitter featuring a broadband emission spectrum suitable for small NDIR gas spectroscopy *** infrared emitter utilizes Joule heating of a Kanthal(FeCrAI)filament that is integrated in the base substrate using an automated high-speed wire bonding process,enabling simple and rapid formation of a long meander-shaped *** describe the critical infrared emitter characteristics,including the effective infrared emission spectrum,thermal frequency response,and power ***,we integrate the emitter into a handheld breath alcohol analyzer and show its operation in both laboratory and real-world settings,thereby demonstrating the potential of the emitter for future low-cost optical gas sensor applications.

bACKGROUND Zinc is a key element in numerous proteins and plays an important role in essential cell functions such as defense against free radicals and DNA damage repair. Chronic pancreatitis(CP) is a chronic inflammation with progressive fibrosis of pancreas ultimately resulting in pancreatic exocrine insufficiency(PEI),which is associated with malnutrition. Studies analyzing zinc levels in patients with CP are sparse and lead to conflicting *** To investigate serum zinc levels in patients with CP of various *** between October 2015 and March 2018, patients with a diagnosis of CP were identified and recruited from the Pancreatic Outpatient Clinic at the Karolinska University Hospital in Stockholm, Sweden. Demographic, clinical and laboratory data were analyzed. Etiology of CP was determined according to the MANNHEIM classification system into the following etiological subcategories:alcohol consumption, nicotine consumption, hereditary factors, efferent pancreatic duct factors and immunological factors. Pancreatic exocrine function was defined as normal(fecal elastase 1 > 200 μg/g), mildly reduced(100-200μg/g) and severely reduced(fecal elastase 1 0.002]. Smoking and number of packyears were additionally associated with low zinc levels. Does the Environmental Gain of Switching to the Healthy New Nordic Diet Outweigh the Increased Consumer Cost？

The new Nordic diet （NND） was designed by gastronomic, nutritional and environmental specialists to be a palatable, healthy and sustainable diet containing 30%-40% less meat than the average Danish diet （ADD）, ≥ 75% organics, and more locally grown wholegrain products, nuts, fruit and vegetables. In this study, the NND was based on economic modelling to represent a ＂realistic NND bought by Danish consumers＂. The objective was to investigate whether the ADD-to-NND diet-shift has environmental consequences that outweigh the increased consumer cost of the diet-shift. The diet-shift reduced the three most important environmental impacts by 16%-22%, mainly caused by reduced meat content. The surcharge to consumers of the ADD-to-NND diet-shift was ∈216/capita/year. In monetary terms, the savings related to the environmental impact of the diet-shift were ∈151/capita/year. 70% of the increased consumer cost of the ADD-to-NND diet-shift was countered by the reduced socioeconomic advantage associated with the reduced environmental impact of the NND.

In this paper,?the motion of textiles through a waste water pump is studied by aid of vision technologies. The steel volute of a commercial pump is replaced with a similar volute made in acrylic glass, which allows recording the motion of textiles inside the pump. Recordings are made at four different operating points to investigate the influence of rotational speed of the impeller and flow?rate on the passage of textiles through the pump. The experiments show that the textiles flow rapidly through the pump when the pump is operated near the best efficient point for both high and low impeller speed. The textiles tend to stay inside the pump when the pump is operated at part load for both low and high impeller speed.?At?low impeller speed,?the textiles often stick to the tongue in the pump casing. At higher impeller speed,?the textiles flow multiple rounds in the volute. For fail-safe operation,?it is recommended not to operate waste water pumps far away from the best efficiency point.
