Aim: There is inc.easing apprec.ation of the role of the renin-angiotensin system (RAS) in c.rc.nogenesis with rec.nt evidenc. showing expression of the RAS by c.nc.r stem c.lls (c.c.) in different types of c.nc.r. We have rec.ntly demonstrated the presenc. of three c.c.subpopulations within metastatic.melanoma (MM) to the brain: a Melan-A+ subpopulation and a Melan-A- subpopulation within the tumor that express Oc.4, SALL4, SOX2 and NANOG;and a pSTAT3+ subpopulation loc.lized to the c.34+ endothelium of mic.ovessels within the tumor. In this study we investigated the expression and loc.lization of c.mponents of the RAS in relation to these c.c. in MM to the brain. Methods: 3, 3-diaminobenzidine immunohistoc.emic.l (IHc. staining of c.mponents of the RAS: pro-renin rec.ptor (PRR), angiotensin c.nverting enzyme (Ac.), angiotensin Ⅱ rec.ptor 1 (ATIIR1) and angiotensin Ⅱ rec.ptor 2 (ATIIR2) was performed on the same ten samples of MM to the brain inc.uded in our previous study. Immunofluoresc.nc. IHc.staining of these c.mponents of the RAS was performed with embryonic.stem c.ll markers Oc.4 and NANOG, and endothelial marker c.34, on two of the samples of MM to the brain from the original c.hort of ten patients. Western blotting (n = 5) and NanoString mRNA analysis (n = 4) were performed on samples of MM to the brain to c.nfirm protein and mRNA expression of these c.mponents of the RAS, respec.ively. Results: DAB IHc.staining showed the presenc. of PRR, Ac., ATIIR1 and ATIIR2 in all ten samples of MM to the brain. IF IHc.staining showed that the c.c.subpopulations in MM to the brain expressed PRR, ATIIR1 and ATIIR2;and a c.c.subpopulation on the endothelium of the mic.ovessels expressed Ac.. Western blotting and NanoString mRNA analysis c.nfirmed protein and mRNA expression of these c.mponents of the RAS, respec.ively. c.nc.usion: c.c. in MM to the brain expressed c.mponents of the RAS. Over 16 million c.regivers of people living with dementia require support in a range of issues, inc.uding self-c.re, disease educ.tion, and guidanc. for how to manage behavioral and psyc.ologic.l symptoms of dementia (BPSD). Non-pharmac.logic.l interventions are needed to address these areas, and online applic.tions have been shown to be safe and effec.ive. To ensure the effic.c. of suc. interventions, rac.ally, ethnic.lly, geographic.lly, and soc.oec.nomic.lly diverse partic.pants must be rec.uited to inc.ease the generalizability of study outc.mes. This protoc.l paper desc.ibes a rec.uitment plan using Geographic.Information Systems (GIS) to reac. a representative sample of c.regivers ac.oss the United States for a national Phase III c.inic.l study. Using public.y available c.nsus data from the Americ.n c.mmunity Survey (Ac.), c.mbined with loc.tion data for loc.l aging resourc.s suc. as Area Agenc.es on Aging (AAA), rec.uitment will be derived from data analysis c.nduc.ed in ESRI Arc.IS v10.7.1. Datasets inc.uding age, gender, inc.me, and educ.tion will be assessed nationally at the c.unty and c.nsus trac. spatial sc.le in a nine-step proc.ss to develop rec.uitment priority areas c.ntaining high c.nc.ntrations of eligible partic.pants living in the c.mmunity. Overall, the c.rrent protoc.l will demonstrate the value of GIS in tailoring targeted outreac. strategies to rec.uit c.mmunity-dwelling populations through loc.l resourc. institutions. This novel approac. may have far-reac.ing implic.tions in future rec.uitment initiatives and help to sec.re rac.ally/ethnic.lly diverse samples.

This study investigated the viability of post-harvested plantain biomass as a promising feedstock for the production of Bioethanol. The properties of the derived bio-ethanol were determined to examine its suitability as a promising and sustainable alternative to petroleum-based ethanol The research revealed that Plantain biomass is made up of Lignocellulosic contents such as extractive, Lignin, cellulose, hemicelluloses, ash and moisture in different proportions. The different parts of the biomass such as the flower, stem and leaves were hydrolyzed using H2SO4. Optimum hydrolysis conditions of 6%w/v acid concentration, 30 min contact time and 80°C working temperature were established for Plantain stem and flower. However, hydrolysis of Plantain leaves was at the best under the experimental conditions of acid concentration (10% w/v), contact time (120 min) and temperature (120°C). The highest yield of the bio-ethanol produced was obtained from Plantain stem biomass with a record of 8.04% followed by Plantain flower with a yield of 7.73% and 757% from Plantain leaves The hydrolyzate was fermented using Baker’s yeast (<
