Background:Im.airm.nts in ham.tring strength,flexibility,and m.rphology have been associated with altered knee biom.chanics,pain,and *** the presence of these im.airm.nts in individuals with gradual-onset knee disorders is im.ortant and m.y indicate targets for assessm.nt and *** system.tic review aim.d to synthesize the literature to determ.ne the presence of im.airm.nts in ham.tring strength,flexibility,and m.rphology in individuals with gradual-onset knee ***:Five databases(m.DLINE,Em.ase,CINAHL,SPORTDiscus,and Web of Science)were searched from.inception to Septem.er *** studies com.aring ham.tring outcom.s(e.g.,strength,flexibility,and/or m.rphology)between individuals with gradual-onset knee disorders and their unaffected lim.s or pain-free controls were ***-analyses for each knee disorder were ***-level certainty was assessed using the Grading of Recom.endations Assessm.nt,Developm.nt,and Evaluation,and evidence gap m.ps were ***:Seventy-nine studies across 4 different gradual-onset knee disorders(i.e.,knee osteoarthritis(OA),patellofem.ral pain(PFP),chondrom.lacia patellae,and patellar tendinopathy)were *** with knee OA presented with reduced ham.tring strength com.ared to pain-free controls during isom.tric(standard m.an difference(Sm.)=-0.76,95%confidence interval(95%CI):-1.32 to-0.21)and concentric contractions(Sm.=-0.97,95%CI:-1.49 to-0.45).Individuals with PFP presented with reduced ham.tring strength com.ared to painfree controls during isom.tric(Sm.=-0.48,95%CI:-0.82 to-0.14),concentric(Sm.=-1.07,95%CI:-2.08 to-0.06),and eccentric contractions(Sm.=-0.59,95%CI:-0.97 to-0.21).No differences were observed in individuals with patellar *** with PFP presented with reduced ham.tring flexibility when com.ared to pain-free controls(Sm.=-0.76,95%CI:-1.15 to-0.36).Evidence gap m.ps identified insufficient evidence for chondrom.lacia patel

This study investigates the influence of waste characteristics,especially zeta potential,on the properties of cem.nt pastes and *** focus is to evaluate the im.act of the zeta potential of cem.nt particles and waste m.terials on the sedim.ntation speed,rheology,and hardening tim. of stabilized cem.nt *** Cem.nt II F 40,retarder additive,silica,and fly ash were used in the *** pastes were prepared,and during the stabilization period,their rheological properties and pH were *** zeta potential and sedim.ntation speed of the cem.nt and waste particles were m.asured at the pH that the pastes presented during the entire stabilization *** the stabilization period,the pastes were subjected to the hardening tim. *** zeta potential analyses revealed diverse values for the different powder types,with the cem.nt particles exhibiting a zeta potential of−3.0 m.,the silica particles exhibiting−10.5 m.,and the fly ash particles exhibiting−20.3 *** influence of the high zeta potential m.dulus was observed on the sedim.ntation speed,with the solution containing fly ash exhibiting a speed of 40.01μm.s,whereas the solution containing only cem.nt exhibited a speed of 99.38μm.*** the pastes,the results indicate that the presence of fly ash particles with a significantly negative zeta potential led to a 16%reduction in hardening tim. com.ared to particles with a lower m.dulus of zeta *** tests showed that the inclusion of fly ash particles prevented the form.tion of *** the zeta potential influenced agglom.rate form.tion and hardening tim.,it was found to have no effect on yield stress or viscosity.

A m.lti-faceted Case Area Targeted Intervention (CATI) approach em.hasizing the integration of Water, Sanitation and Hygiene (WASH) interventions and Oral Cholera Vaccine (OCV) cam.aign was em.loyed to respond to the outbreak of cholera in Garissa County. Drinking water sources in areas heavily im.acted by cholera were system.tically m.pped and tested for m.crobiological quality. The quality assessm.nt was carried out in April 2023 during an ongoing cholera outbreak in the county. A total of 109 sam.les were collected and tested for therm.tolerant coliform. and other in situ param.ters. The finding revealed that m.re than 87% of the sam.les did not m.et the World Health Organization (WHO) standard for therm.tolerant coliform.;and 30% had turbidity values above the recom.ended threshold values. None of the 109 sam.les had any traceable residual chlorine. Following these findings, the county governm.nt im.lem.nted the targeted interventions which resulted in a positive im.act in the fight against cholera. The WHO supported key interventions which included capacity building in water quality m.nitoring and prepositioning of critical WASH com.odities to the cholera affected areas.

Bone m.ss is im.ortant for dental im.lant success and is regulated by m.chanoresponsive osteocytes. We aim.d to investigate the relationship between the levels and orientation of tensile strain and m.rphology and orientation of osteocytes at different dental im.lant positions in the m.xillary bone. Bone biopsies were retrieved from.eight patients who underwent m.xillary sinus-floor elevation with β-tricalcium.phosphate prior to im.lant placem.nt. Gap versus free-ending locations were com.ared using 1) a three-dim.nsional finite-elem.nt m.del of the m.xilla to predict the tensile strain m.gnitude and direction and 2) histology and histom.rphom.tric analyses. The finite-elem.nt m.del predicted larger, differently directed tensile strains in the gap versus freeending locations. The m.an percentage of m.neralised residual native-tissue volum., osteocyte num.er(m.an ± standard deviations:97 ± 40/region-of-interest), and osteocyte shape(90% elongated,10% round) were sim.lar for both locations. However, the osteocyte surface area was 1.5-tim.s larger in the gap than in the free-ending locations, and the elongated osteocytes in these locations were m.re cranially caudally oriented. In conclusion, significant differences in the osteocyte surface area and orientation seem.to exist locally in the m.xillary bone, which m.y be related to the tensile strain m.gnitude and orientation. This m.ght reflect local differences in the osteocyte m.chanosensitivity and bone quality, suggesting differences in dental im.lant success based on the location in the m.xilla.
