Uncertainty analysis of flow rate measurement for multiphase flow using CFD

The venturi meter has an advantage in its use,because it can measure flow without being much affected by the type of the measured fluid or flow ***,it has excellent versatility and is being widely applied in many *** flow of a liquid containing air is a representative example of a multiphase flow and exhibits complex flow *** particular,the greater the gas volume fraction（GVF）,the more inhomogeneous the flow *** a result,using a venturi meter to measure the rate of a flow that has a high GVF generates an *** this study,the cause of the error occurred in measuring the flow rate for the multiphase flow when using the venturi meter for analysis by *** ensure the reliability of this study,the accuracy of the multiphase flow models for numerical analysis was verified through comparison between the calculated results of numerical analysis and the experimental *** a result,the Grace model,which is a multiphase flow model established by an experiment with water and air,was confirmed to have the highest ***,the characteristics of the internal flow Held about the multiphase flow analysis result generated by applying the Grace model were analyzed to find the cause of the uncertainty occurring when measuring the flow rate of the multiphase flow using the venturi meter.A phase separation phenomenon occurred due to a density difference of water and air inside the venturi,and flow inhomogeneity happened according to the flow velocity difference of each *** was confirmed that this flow inhomogeneity increased as the GVF increased due to the uncertainty of the flow measurement.

Selexipag as Add-on Therapy for Patients with Pulmonary Arterial Hypertension Associated with Congenital Heart Disease:A Single-Center Retrospective Study

Purpose:This study examined the efficacy and safety of selexipag in treating pulmonary arterial hypertension(PAH)associated with congenital heart disease(CHD).Materials and Methods:We conducted a retrospective study of patients with CHD-associated PAH,treated with selexipag since December *** adult patients(mean age,45.4 years;women,77%)were treated with selexipag as add-on *** characteristics,World Health Organization functional class,6-minute walking distance(6MWD)test results,N-terminal pro-B-type natriuretic peptide levels,echocardiographic data,and incidence of side effects were ***:The majority of patients(12/13,92.3%)experienced more than one treatment-associated complication;one patient dropped out of the study due to intolerable *** results of 6MWD test(from 299.2±56.2 m to 363.8±86.5 m,p=0.039)and tricuspid regurgitation(TR)pressure gradient(from 84.7±20.5 mmHg to 61.6±24.0 mmHg,p=0.018)improved and remained improved after selexipag treatment in 12 *** on the results of a non-invasive risk assessment,8(66.7%)patients showed improvement,3(25.0%)showed no interval change,and the status of one patient(8.3%)***,compared to patients treated with a low dosage,patients treated with a medium-to-high dosage showed a greater increase in 6MWD results(88.3±26.4 m vs.55.3±27.6 m,p=0.043)and a greater reduction in the TR pressure gradient(-33.7±10.9 mmHg vs.-12.5±12.0 mmHg,p=0.015).Conclusion:Selexipag is an efficient pulmonary vasodilator as add-on therapy in treating CHD-associated PAH.

Effects of electroacupuncture on the functionality of NG2-expressing cells in perilesional brain tissue of mice following ischemic stroke

Neural/glial antigen 2(NG2)-expressing cells has multipotent stem cell activity under cerebral *** study examined the effects of electroacupuncture(EA)therapy(2 Hz,1 or 3 mA,20 minutes)at the Sishencong acupoint on motor function after ischemic insult in the brain by investigating the rehabilitative potential of NG2-derived cells in a mouse model of ischemic *** stimulation alleviated motor deficits caused by ischemic stroke,and 1 mA EA stimulation was more efficacious than 3 mA EA stimulation or positive control treatment with edaravone,a free radical *** properties of NG2-expressing cells were altered with 1 mA EA stimulation,enhancing their survival in perilesional brain tissue via reduction of tumor necrosis factor alpha *** stimulation robustly activated signaling pathways related to proliferation and survival of NG2-expressing cells and increased the expression of neurotrophic factors such as brain-derived neurotrophic factor,tumor growth factor beta,and neurotrophin *** the perilesional striatum,EA stimulation greatly increased the number of NG2-expressing cells double-positive for oligodendrocyte,endothelial cell,and microglia/macrophage markers(CC1,CD31,and CD68).EA therapy also greatly activated brain-derived neurotrophic factor/tropomyosin receptor kinase B and glycogen synthase kinase 3 beta *** results indicate that EA therapy may prevent functional loss at the perilesional site by enhancing survival and differentiation of NG2-expressing cells via the activation of brain-derived neurotrophic factor-induced signaling,subsequently ameliorating motor *** animal experiments were approved by the Animal Ethics Committee of Pusan National University(approval ***2019-2199 and PNU2019-2884)on April 8,2019 and June 19,2019.

As industries develop,fire disasters and their associated damage are *** the mental health of victims is imperative because this is an essential issue for community recovery after a *** study was conducted to determine the efficacy of a program implemented by a community mental health center based on the investigation of the victims’depression and post-traumatic stress disorder(PTSD)levels immediately after the disaster and at one-year *** a result,victims’depression and PTSD recovered over time,and more changes were *** particular,the high-risk group for PTSD showed a high program participation rate,and there was significant recovery over time compared with the group without *** on these results,community mental health programs are an effective way to increase community mental health after *** the future,community-based recovery programs after disasters should be expanded,and administrative support for them should be developed.

ELK3-ID4 axis governs the metastatic features of triple negative breast cancer

Purpose:Cancer cell metastasis is a multistep process,and the mechanism underlying extravasation remains ***3 is a transcription factor that plays a crucial role in regulating various cellular processes,including cancer *** on the finding that ELK3 promotes the metastasis of triple-negative breast cancer(TNBC),we investigated whether ELK3 regulates the extravasation of TNBC by forming the ELK3-ID4 ***4 functions as a transcriptional regulator that interacts with other transcription factors,inhibiting their activity and subsequently influencing various biological processes associated with cell differentiation,survival,growth,and ***:We assessed the correlation between the expression of ELK3 and that of ID4 in TNBCs using bioinformatics analyses,QRT-PCR,western blot analysis,luciferase reporter assays,and chromatin ***,adhesion,invasion,and lung metastasis assays were employed to determine whether the ELK3-ID4 axis regulates the metastatic features of ***:We found that ELK3 binds directly to a binding motif close to the ID4 promoter to repress promoter *** expression of E-cadherin in TNBC was regulated by the ELK3-ID4 *** vitro and in vivo analyses showed that inhibiting ID4 expression in ELK3-knockdown MDA-MB-231(ELK3KD)cells restored the ability to extravasate and ***:The results indicate that the ELK3 regulates ID4 promoter activity,and that the ELK3-ID4 axis regulates the metastatic characteristics of TNBC ***,the data suggest that the ELK3-ID4 axis regulates metastasis of TNBCs by modulating expression of E-cadherin.

Restoration of an Inner-City Stream and Its Impact on Air Temperature and Humidity Based on Long-Term Monitoring Data

Spatiotemporal changes in air temperature and humidity associated with the restoration of an innercity stream in Seoul, Korea, are investigated based on long-term monitoring data. The Cheonggye stream, covered under a concrete structure for 46 years, was restored in 2005 and runs 5.8 km eastward through a central region of Seoul. Long-term monitoring of the air temperature and relative humidity was made along the stream throughout the restoration and across the stream after the restoration. The area along the stream had a higher air temperature than the entire metropolitan area. The temperature anomaly between the monitoring area and the surrounding metropolitan area was 0.13℃ lower on average at the center of the stream after the restoration. The stream＇s effect on the air temperature was also evident in the temperature distribution along a street traversing the stream. The relative and specific humidities were increased due to the restoration. The restored stream modified the nearby urban climate in the opposite direction compared to urbanization. The results could be used as a model case in mitigating urban climate by a stream in future urban planning practices.

Influence of the wastewater composition on denitrification and biological P-removal in the S-DN-P process: (c) Dissolved and undissolved substrates

The denitdfication and P-removal in the sorption-denitrification-P-removal （S-DN-P） process were carded out under various wastewater compositions. It is noted that P-removal largely depends on the wastewater composition as well to the quantity of the substrates present in wastewater fraction. Three different wastewater fractions are obtained as： raw wastewater, dissolved wastewater （obtained with filtration using 0.45 μm filter）, and undissolved wastewater （i.e., infiltrate obtained by above filtration）. The ratio of P-release/CODtotal-consumption clearly inferred that undissolved wastewater possess very low value i.e., 0.0008 followed by raw wastewater 0.008 and dissolved wastewater 0.03. When this ratio was nearby 0.01, enhanced P-removal was observed. Moreover, the ratio of P-uptake to NO3^--N decomposition for raw wastewater was two times for dissolved wastewater. Interestingly, it was observed that the P-removal and denitrification depend not only on the dissolved substrates but also the undissolved substrates present in the wastewater. The result of the P-removal obtained with this S-DN-P process did not show a big difference of 36%, 34% and 30%, respectively, for raw, dissolved and undissolved wastewater.

Antioxidant and anticancer activity of Artemisia princeps *** extract in HepG2 and Hep3B hepatocellular carcinoma cells

Objective：The aim of the present study was to investigate antioxidant and the anticancerigen activity of a methanol extract from Artemisia princeps *** （APME）,a well-known traditional herbal medicine in Asia,in hepatocellular cancer ***：To evaluate the antioxidant activity of APME,reactive oxygen species （ROS） and the antioxidant enzymes,superoxide dismutase （SOD） and catalase were investigated in HepG2 cells exposed to APME （5,100,and 200 μg/mL） for 72 ***,to evaluate the anticancer activity of APME,we investigated the proliferation and apoptosis induction of HepG2 and Hep3B cells exposed to APME （1-200 μg/mL） for 24,48,and 72 ***：APME dose-dependently reduced the generation of ROS in the presence of H2O2 compared with control ***,it increased catalase and SOD ***,APME inhibited cell proliferation in a dose-and time-dependcnt manner,but at concentrations lower than 100 μg/mL,the inhibition was less dose-dependent than ***2 and Hep3B cells exposed to 5,100,and 200 μg/mL APME for 72 h underwent cell cycle arrest and *** to APME resulted in a significant increase in the number of cells in G1 phase and a decrease in the G2/M phase cell *** addition,APME induced P53 expression of HepG2 cells in a dose-dependent manner,and played a role in the downregulation of Bcl-2 and upregulation of Bax in both HepG2 and Hep3B ***：These results indicate the potential role of APME as an antioxidant and anticancerigen agent in hepatocarcinoma cell lines.

Rice tissue-specific promoters and conditiondependent promoters for effective translational application

Rice （Oryza sativa） is one of the most important staple food crops for more than half of the world＇s population. The demand is increasing for food security because of population growth and environmental challenges triggered by climate changes. This scenario has led to more interest in developing crops with greater productivity and sustainability. The process of genetic transformation, a major tool for crop improvement, utilizes promoters as one of its key elements. Those promoters are generally divided into three types： constitutive, spatiotemporal, and condition-dependent. Tran- scriptional control of a constitutive promoter often leads to reduced plant growth, due to a negative effect of accumu- lated molecules during cellular functions or energy consump- tion. To maximize the effect of a transgene on transgenic plants, it is better to use condition-dependent or tissue- specific promoters. However, until now, those types have not been as widely applied in crop biotechnology. In this review, we introduce and discuss four groups of tissue-specific promoters （5o promoters in total） and six groups of condition-dependent promoters （27 promoters）. These pro- moters can be utilized to fine-tune desirable agronomic traits and develop crops with tolerance to various stresses, enhanced nutritional value, and advanced productivity.
