Primary hepatic malignant fibrous histiocytoma (MFH) is rarely encountered. There have been no reports to date of hepatic MFH associated with liver cirrhosis. The presence of liver cirrhosis is considered an adjunctive feature favoring sarcomatoid hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) in the diagnosis of spindle cell tumors in liver. We describe here a 59-year-old man with liver cirrhosis due to hepatitis B virus infection 20 years ago. On abdominal computed tomography scanning, two distinct hepatic masses were identified in the background of cirrhosis, which had different radiological features from conventional HCC. He underwent segmentectomy for removal of the tumors. The pathological examination of surgically resected specimen revealed the large malignant spindle cell tumor and small conventional HCC. Additional tissue sampling and immunohistochemical stainings demonstrated that the spindle cell tumor was consistent with MFH. On the post-operative follow-up for 21 mo, a round mass showing similar radiological findings for the previous MFH was appeared on the surface of resection margin, suggesting the recurrence. Despite its rarity, hepatic MFH should be considered during differential diagnosis, even in cirrhotic patients, and extensive tissue sampling and immunohistochemical analyses are necessary in the diagnosis of hepatic spindle cell tumors.

A critical challenge hindering the practical application of lithium–oxygen batteries(LOBs)is the inevitable problems associated with liquid electrolytes,such as evaporation and safety *** study addresses these problems by proposing a modified polyrotaxane(mPR)-based solid polymer electrolyte(SPE)design that simultaneously mitigates solvent-related problems and improves ***-SPE exhibits high ion conductivity(2.8×10^(−3)S cm^(−1)at 25℃)through aligned ion conduction pathways and provides electrode protection ability through hydrophobic chain *** this mPR-SPE into solid-state LOBs resulted in stable potentials over 300 *** situ Raman spectroscopy reveals the presence of an LiO_(2)intermediate alongside Li_(2)O_(2)during oxygen *** situ X-ray diffraction confirm the ability of the SPE to hinder the permeation of oxygen and moisture,as demonstrated by the air permeability *** present study suggests that maintaining a low residual solvent while achieving high ionic conductivity is crucial for restricting the sub-reactions of solid-state LOBs.

Variations in tensile behavior and properties after pre-strain and thermal aging were differently affected by strain aging phenomenon dependent on *** increasing polygonal ferrite fraction,decrement in uniform elongation is increased,and the increment in yield-to-tensile ratio is slightly decreased after pre-strain and thermal ***,it can be concluded that the polygonal ferrite has contradictory effects on strain aging resistance although the polygonal ferrite still contributes to improvement of uniform elongation after strain aging.

This study attempted to develop an appropriate catalyst used for the steam reforming of gasified spent solvents. Rh2O3/ CeOE-Al2O3 catalysts with various CeO2 loadings were prepared and heated at different temperatures of 500 and 800 ℃, and their surface properties were studied using X-ray diffraction （XRD）, X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy （XPS）, transmission electron microscopy （TEM）, temperature programmed reduction （TPR） and Bmmauer-Emmett-Teller （BET） analyses. Rhodium existed in the form of Rh2O3, regardless of the sample composition as well as the heating temperature. In the tested range of cerium addition （up to 12 times the rhodium mass）, no significant changes in BET surface areas and binding energy corresponding to Rh 3d5/2 were observed. Instead, the addition of cerium led to a greatly enhanced dispersion of rhodium nanoparticles, and no agglomeration of rhodium was observed for samples heated even at 800 ℃. Honeycomb monolith rhodium catalysts promoted with cerium were fabricated and tested for the steam reforming of a gasified spent solvent, mainly consisting of butylene （C4H8）. The test results suggested that a cerium-promoted rhodium catalyst could be used as an appropriate reforming catalyst for treating low-quality non-methane hydrocarbons without the formation of coke at high temperatures of up to 900 ℃.

Tidal current power is one of the promising and reliable renewable energies with the advantage of continuous and predictable resource. It can make stable electricity regardless of weather conditions or seasons all year around. The required technologies for tidal current power in the ocean have been developed for years and now recognized that it could be commercialized after intensive field tests and successful demonstrations. There are several tidal farm development projects in the world, such as the MeyGen project in UK with its commercialization at hand. However, various research subjects in the tidal current energy field are seeking improvements and industrialization of tidal current power in terms of economy and technical reliability. This paper introduces the resource assessment procedure of tidal energy that has been applied in Korea coastal regions. The key research subjects for tidal current power together with the interaction effect of multi-arrangement is described. Also, this paper is to introduce the research output of each subject such as turbine design, experimental validation, turbine interaction and wake, multi-array module, FSI (fluid-structure interaction), and duct application.

Integrated multi-trophic aquaculture (IMTA) has been proposed as a concept that combines the cultivation of fed aquaculture species (e.g., finfish/shrimp) with extractive aquaculture species (e.g., shellfish/seaweed). In seaweed-based integrated aquaculture, seaweeds have the capacity to reduce the environmental impact of nitrogen-rich effluents on coastal ecosystems. Thus, selection of optimal species for such aquaculture is of great importance. The present study aimed to develop a seaweed species-selection index for selecting suitable species in seaweed-based integrated aquaculture system. The index was synthesized using available literature-based information, reference data, and physiological seaweed experiments to identify and prioritize the desired species. Undaria pinnatifida, Porphyra yezoensis and Ulva compressa scored the highest according to a seaweed-based integrated aquaculture suitability index (SASI). Seaweed species with the highest scores were adjudged to fit the integrated aquaculture systems. Despite the application of this model limited by local aquaculture environment, it is considered to be a useful tool for selecting seaweed species in IMTA.

Subterranean termites construct complex tunnel networks for foraging. During travel in the tunnels, termites often encounter one another when passing in opposite directions. Such encounters are likely to affect the ＂movement efficiency,＂ which is the time required for a termite to travel a certain distance in a tunnel. In this study, we explored how individual-individual encounters affect movement efficiency in tunnels by measuring the time （v） taken by two termites to pass one another in tunnels of different curvatures. Artificial tunnels of 5 cm in length and variable widths （W） of 2, 3, or 4 mm were made. Tunnel distance （D） was 2, 3, 4, or 5 cm. When D had a higher value, curvature was lower. When W = 2, T was significantly shorter in the tunnel with D = 5 than in tunnels ofD = 2, 3, or 4, whereas v was statistically the same for D = 2, 3 and 4. When W = 3, r was shorter in the tunnel with D = 5 than for D = 3 and 4, while ~ was longer in the tunnel with D = 2 than for D = 3 and 4. When W = 4, r was longer in the tunnels with D = 2 and 3 than for D = 4 and 5. Based on these observations, 3 types of termite behavior were identified： biased walking, backward walking, and zigzag walking. We considered these results in relation to foraging efficiency.

Understanding of ecosystem resilience and stability requires comprehending predator- prey dynamics because ecosystems consist of dynamically interacting subsystems that include predator-prey relationships. This relationship is closely related to the hunting- escaping strategies employed by the predator and prey. Therefore, understanding the effects of hunting and escaping strategies on ecosystems will lead to a better under- standing of these systems. As an approach for describing the predator-prey interaction, lattice-based models have been adopted because this approach has strong advantages for simulating various dynamical processes of individual-individual interaction. In the models, each lattice cell is either considered as an attractive/repulsive cell, or an indi- vidual cell, or else it is empty. The attractive （or repulsive cell） can be interpreted as the prey （or predator） of the individual. These states allow us to incorporate the ecological processes of local antagonistic interactions, namely the spread of disturbances （by the predator） and regrowth or recovery （by the prey）. These processes are directly related to the strategic behavior of individuals, such as hunting and escaping. In this study, we suggest a simple and effective mapping formula as a stochastic rule to describe the hunt- ing and escaping behavior. This formula could be widely used not only in the behavior but also in competitive and cooperative relationships.

BACKGROUND Arsenic trioxide(ATO)is recommended for patients who do not achieve molecular remission or who have molecular or morphologic ***,there are no guidelines for adjusting ATO dosage in patients with severe renal failure or on ***,we report the successful treatment of relapsed acute promyelocytic leukemia(APL)in a patient on hemodialysis with ATO single agent and review the cases in *** SUMMARY A 46-year-old woman who has been on hemodialysis to chronic glomerulonephritis for 15 years visited our hospital for *** had been seen for pancytopenia 3 years ago and had been diagnosed with *** also received chemotherapy for APL but unfortunately was lost to follow-up after her second consolidation *** was noted to have pancytopenia by her nephrologist during hemodialysis 1 mo *** marrow biopsy and reverse transcriptase-polymerase chain reaction(RT-PCR)tests revealed a diagnosis of relapsed *** for relapsed APL with ATO single agent was started and she achieved molecular remission after administering 24 doses of *** far,four consolidation therapies have been performed with the ATO single agent,and,to date,the molecular remission has been maintained as negative promyelocytic leukemia/retinoic acid receptor-αfusion gene as confirmed by RTPCR testing for two *** This is a rare case of relapsed APL successfully treated with the single agent ATO in a patient on hemodialysis.
