Porous TiFe_(2) intermetallic compound fabricated via elemental powder reactive synthesis

Porous intermetallics show potential in the field of filtration and separation as well as in the field of catalysis.herein,porous Ti Fe2intermetallics were fabricated by the reactive synthesis of elemental powders.The phase transformation and pore formation of porous TiFe2intermetallics were investigated,and its corrosion behavior and hydrogen evolution reaction(heR)performance in alkali solution were studied.Porous TiFe2intermetallics with porosity in the range of 34.4%-56.4%were synthesized by the diffusion reaction of Ti and Fe elements,and the pore formation of porous TiFe2intermetallic compound is the result of a combination of the bridging effect and the Kirkendall effect.The porous TiFe2samples exhibit better corrosion resistance compared with porous 316L stainless steel,which is related to the formation of uniform nanosheets on the surface that hinder further corrosion,and porous TiFe2electrode shows the overpotential of 220.6 and 295.6 mV at 10 and 100 mA·cm-2,suggesting a good catalytic performance.The synthesized porous Fe-based intermetallic has a controllable pore structure as well as excellent corrosion resistance,showing its potential in the field of filtration and separation.

To evaluate the safety of the bulb tubular turbine,the dynamic hydraulic characteristics of a hydropower station system during the load rejection process are studied through numerical simulations and a prototype test.In the developed model,a dynamic grid technology(DGT)controls the closure of the guide vane and the blade,whilst the moment balance equation and the user-defined function(UDF)provide the runner’s rotation speed.The 3-D transient simulation method can well predict the rotation speed and mass flow curves in the state of load rejection.The simulation outcomes of the system performance are basically consistent with the measurement data of the prototype.As observed,the runner is subjected to the reversely increased torque and axial force,the system is in a braking phase,and the maximum speed peaks at 144.6%of the rated speed.Moreover,the internal flow of the runner is greatly affected by the closure of the guide vane,and the draft tube forms an eccentric spiral vortex rope.It breaks downstream,aggravating the instability of the draft tube.Overall,the transient characteristics span for the first five seconds,demonstrating the importance of establishing an efficient governing controller.The obtained results are useful for designing the turbine’s flow channel with a double regulating function and comprehending the turbine’s transient characteristics.

Neburon is a phenylurea herbicide that is widely used worldwide,but its toxicity is poorly studied.In our previous study,we found that neburon has strong aryl hydrocarbon receptor(AhR)agonist activity,but whether it causes reproductive toxicity is not clear.In the present study,zebrafish were conducted as a model organism to evaluate whether environmental concentrations of neburon(0.1,1 and 10μg/L)induce reproductive disorder in males.After exposure to neburon for 150 days from embryo to adult,that the average spawning egg number in high concentration group was 106.40,which was significantly lower than 193.00in control group.This result was mainly due to the abnormal male reproductive behavior caused by abnormal transcription of genes associated with reproductive behavior in the brain,such as secretogranin-2a.The proportions of spermatozoa in the medium and high concentration groups were 82.40%and 83.84%,respectively,which were significantly lower than 89.45%in control group.This result was mainly caused by hormonal disturbances and an increased proportion of apoptotic cells.The hormonal disruption was due to the significant changes in the transcription levels of key genes in the hypothalamus-pituitary-gonadal axis following neburon treatment.Neburon treatment also significantly activated the AhR signaling pathway,causing oxidative stress damage and eventually leading to a significant increase in apoptosis in the exposed group.Together,these data filled the currently more vacant profile of neburon toxicity and might provide information to assess the ecotoxicity of neburon on male reproduction at environmentally relevant concentrations.

AIM:To analyze the distribution of refractive status in school-age children with different corneal curvatures(CC)and the correlation between CC and refractive status.METHODS:A total of 2214 school-aged children of grade 4 in Hangzhou who were screened for school myopia were included.Uncorrected distance visual acuity(UCDVA),non-cycloplegic refraction,axial length(AL),horizontal and vertical corneal curvature(K1,K2)were measured and spherical equivalent(SE),corneal curvature radius(CCR)and axial length/corneal radius of curvature ratio(AL/CR)were calculated.UCDVAhe different CCRs,the patients were divided into the lower corneal curvature(LCC)group(CCR≥7.92)and the higher corneal curvature(HCC)group(CCRher divided into the normal AL subgroup and the long AL subgroup.The refractive parameters were compared to identify any differences between the two groups.RESULTS:Both SE and AL were greater in the LCC group(P=0.013,Phe prevalence of myopia was 38% in the LCC group and 44% in the HCC group(Phe proportion of children without screening myopia was higher in the LCC group(62%)than in the HCC group(56%).Among these children without screening myopia,the proportion of long AL in the LCC group(24%)was significantly higher than that in the HCC group(0.012%;Phe change of SE in the LCC group was less affected by the increase of AL than that in the HCC group.CONCLUSION:School-aged children in the LCC group have a lower incidence of screening myopia and longer AL.Low CC can mask SE reduction and AL growth to some extent,and the change of AL growth change more in children with low CC than high CC.Before the onset of myopia,its growth rate is even faster than that after the onset of myopia.

As a vital type of light-absorbing aerosol,brown carbon(BrC)presents inherent associations with atmospheric photochemistry and climate change.However,the understanding of the chemical and optical properties of BrC is limited,especially in some resource-dependent cities with long heating periods in northwest China.This study showed that the annual average abundances of Water-soluble BrC(WS-BrC)were 9.33±7.42 and 8.69±6.29μg/m^(3)in Baotou and Wuhai and the concentrations,absorption coefficient(Abs_(365)),and mass absorption efficiency(MAE365)of WS-BrC presented significant seasonal patterns,with high values in the heating season and low values in the non-heating season;while showing opposite seasonal trends for the Absorption Angstr?m exponent(AAE_(300-400)).Comparatively,the levels of WS-BrC in developing regions(such as cities in Asia)were higher than those in developed regions(such as cities in Europe and Australia),indicating the significant differences in energy consumption in these regions.By combining fluorescence excitation-emission matrix(EEM)spectra with the parallel factor(PARAFAC)model,humic-like(C1 and C2)and proteinlike(C3)substances were identified,and accounted for 61.40%±4.66%and 38.6%±3.78%at Baotou,and 60.33%±6.29%and 39.67%±4.17%at Wuhai,respectively.The results of source apportionment suggested that the potential source regions of WS-BrC varied in heating vs.non-heating seasons and that the properties of WS-BrC significantly depended on primary emissions(e.g.,combustion emissions)and secondary formation.

Light-sheet fluorescence microscopy(LSFM)has played an important role in bio-imaging due to its advantages of high photon efficiency,fast speed,and long-term imaging capabilities.The perpendicular layout between LSFM excitation and detection often limits the 3D resolutions as well as their isotropy.here,we report on a reflective type light-sheet microscope with a mini-prism used as an optical path reflector.The conventional high NA objectives can be used both in excitation and detection with this design.Isotropic resolutions in 3D down to300 nm could be achieved without deconvolution.The proposed method also enables easy transform of a conventional fluorescence microscope to high performance light-sheet microscopy.

Al is considered as a promising lithium-ion battery(LIBs)anode materials owing to its high theoretical capacity and appropri-ate lithation/de-lithation potential.Unfortunately,its inevitable volume expansion causes the electrode structure instability,leading to poor cyclic stability.What’s worse,the natural Al2O3 layer on commercial Al pellets is always existed as a robust insulating barrier for elec-trons,which brings the voltage dip and results in low reversible capacity.herein,this work synthesized core-shell Al@C-Sn pellets for LIBs by a plus-minus strategy.In this proposal,the natural Al2O3 passivation layer is eliminated when annealing the pre-introduced SnCl2,meanwhile,polydopamine-derived carbon is introduced as dual functional shell to liberate the fresh Al core from re-oxidization and alle-viate the volume swellings.Benefiting from the addition of C-Sn shell and the elimination of the Al2O3 passivation layer,the as-prepared Al@C-Sn pellet electrode exhibits little voltage dip and delivers a reversible capacity of 1018.7 mAh·g^(-1) at 0.1 A·g^(-1) and 295.0 mAh·g^(-1) at 2.0 A·g^(-1)(after 1000 cycles),respectively.Moreover,its diffusion-controlled capacity is muchly improved compared to those of its counterparts,confirming the well-designed nanostructure contributes to the rapid Li-ion diffusion and further enhances the lithium storage activity.

Rock and geotechnical engineering investigations involve drilling holes in ground with or without retrieving soil and rock samples to construct the subsurface ground profile.On the basis of an actual soil nailing drilling for a slope stability project in Hong Kong,this paper further develops the drilling process monitoring(DPM)method for digitally profiling the subsurface geomaterials of weathered granitic rocks using a compressed airflow driven percussive-rotary drilling machine with down-the-hole(DTH)hammer.Seven transducers are installed on the drilling machine and record the chuck displacement,DTH rotational speed,and five pressures from five compressed airflows in real-time series.The mechanism and operations of the drilling machine are elaborated in detail,which is essential for understanding and evaluating the drilling data.A MATLAB program is developed to automatically filter the recorded drilling data in time series and classify them into different drilling processes in sub-time series.These processes include penetration,push-in with or without rod,pull-back with or without rod,rod-tightening and rod-untightening.The drilling data are further reconstructed to plot the curve of drill-bit depth versus the net drilling time along each of the six drillholes.Each curve is found to contain multiple linear segments with a constant penetration rate,which implies a zone of homogenous geomaterial with different weathering grades.The effect from fluctuation of the applied pressures is evaluated quantitatively.Detailed analyses are presented for accurately assess and verify the underground profiling and strength in weathered granitic rock,which provided the basis of using DPM method to confidently assess drilling measurements to interpret the subsurface profile in real time.

Memtransistors in which the source-drain channel conductance can be nonvolatilely manipulated through the gate signals have emerged as promising components for implementing neuromorphic computing.On the other side,it is known that the complementary metal-oxide-semiconductor(CMOS)field effect transistors have played the fundamental role in the modern integrated circuit technology.Therefore,will complementary memtransistors(CMT)also play such a role in the future neuromorphic circuits and chips?In this review,various types of materials and physical mechanisms for constructing CMT(how)are inspected with their merits and need-to-address challenges discussed.Then the unique properties(what)and poten-tial applications of CMT in different learning algorithms/scenarios of spiking neural networks(why)are reviewed,including super-vised rule,reinforcement one,dynamic vision with in-sensor computing,etc.Through exploiting the complementary structure-related novel functions,significant reduction of hardware consuming,enhancement of energy/efficiency ratio and other advan-tages have been gained,illustrating the alluring prospect of design technology co-optimization(DTCO)of CMT towards neuro-morphic computing.
