20%n-butanol is blended in diesel by volume(noted as D80B20)and experiment has been carried out to study the effect on the combustion and emission characteristics based on a common rail diesel engine with exhaust gas recirculation(EGR)*** results reveal thatD80B20 has longer ignition delay,shorter combustion duration and higher maximumin-cylinder temperature than pure diesel(noted as D100).Further,the number concentration and volume concentration of ultrafine particles decrease significantly while NO_(X) emissions increase a little with the addition of *** the exhaust gas is induced into cylinder,NO_(X) emissions significantly decrease and ultrafine particles emissions *** number geometric mean diameters and volume geometricmean diameters of ultrafine particles increase witheGR *** toD100 without EGR,D80B20 with 20%EGR ratio can reduce both NO_(X) and ultrafine particles emissions at 0.14MPa BMEP and 0.56MPa BMEP.

The Shanghai Cooperation Organisation(SCO)is the most extensive and populous comprehensive regional cooperation organization in the world,covering about half of the world's population,with not only a huge consumer market,but also rich natural resources and strong *** one of the important platforms for the implementation of the Green Belt and Road Initiative,it is an important opportunity for the SCO to actively participate in global governance and contribute to building a community of global *** investigate the status of biodiversity conservation in the SCO countries,we used literature analysis *** surveyed the performance and international cooperation status of the SCO countries in the implementation of the Convention on Biological Diversity(CBD),listed facing problems and threats to biodiversity conservation,including not optimistic biodiversity conservation project implementation status,contradiction between ecological protection and economic development,impacts of human activities,lack of funds and talents,etc.,and analyzed the biodiversity protection needs of the SCO countries from the perspectives of project and policy implementation status and international *** to the cooperation between China and the other SCO countries on biodiversity conservation and the post-2020 global biodiversity framework goals,we gave some recommendations:(1)promoting access to genetic resources and benefit-sharing;(2)integrating multiple funds and innovating the implementation of funding mechanism;(3)developing talent training and exchange programs and deepening multilateral cooperation;(4)strengthening cross-border cooperation and improving cooperation network;and(5)establishing a coordination mechanism for biodiversity conservation within the framework of the SCO.

here we used Empirical Mode Decomposition （EMD） method to study seasonal variability and nonlinear trend of corrected AERONET Aerosol Optical Depth （AOD/Hi） and corrected PM10 mass concentrations （PMmxf（RH）） in Hong Kong during 2005-2011. AODPrli is highly correlated with PMI0xf（RH） in semi-annual and annual time scales （with correlation coefficient 0.67 for semi-annual and 0.79 for annual components, 95% confidence interval）. On the semi-annual scale, both AOD/Hi and PM10xf（RH） can capture the two maxima in March and October, respectively, with much stronger amplitude in March proba- bly due to the long-range transport of dust storm. On the annual cycle, the AOD/Hi and PMI0xf（RH）, which are negatively correlated with the precipitation and solar radiation, vary coherently with the maxima in February. This annual peak occurs about one month earlier than the first peak of the semi-annual variability in March, but with only half amplitude. During 2005-2011, both AOD/Hi and PM10xf（RH） exhibit the pronounced decreasing trend with the mean rate of 14 gg m-3 per year for PM10xf（RH）, which reflects the significant effects of the air pollution control policy in Hong Kong during the past decade. The nonlinear trend analysis indicates that the decreasing of PM10xf（RH） is slower than that of AOD/Hi when the AOD/Hi is less than 0.44 but becomes faster when the AOD/Hi exceeds 0.44. These results illustrate that the AERONET AOD can be used quantitatively to estimate local air-quality variability on the semi-annual, annual, and long-term trend time scales.

Discovery of novel ursolic acid derivatives as effective antimicrobial agents through a ROS-mediated apoptosis mechanism

In response to the reduction of food production and economic losses caused by plant bacterial diseases, it is necessary to develop new, efficient, and green pesticides. Natural products are rich and sustainable source for the development of new pesticides due to their low toxicity, easy degradation, and eco-friendliness. In this study, we prepared three series of ursolic acid derivatives and assessed their antibacterial ability. Most target compounds exhibited outstanding antibacterial activities. Among them, the relative optimal EC50 values of Xanthomonas oryzae pv. oryzae and Xanthomonas axonopodis pv. citri were 2.23 (A17) and 1.39 (A16) μg·mL^(-1), respectively. The antimicrobial mechanism showed that compound A17 induced an excessive accumulation and production of reactive oxygen species in bacteria and damaged the cell membrane integrity to kill bacteria. More interestingly, the addition of low concentrations of exogenous hydrogen peroxide enhanced the antibacterial efficacy of compound A17 against Xanthomonas oryzae pv. oryzae. These entertaining results suggested that compound A17 induced an apparent apoptotic behavior in the tested bacteria. Overall, we developed the promising antimicrobial agents that destroyed the redox system of phytopathogenic bacteria, further demonstrating the unprecedented potential of ursolic acid for agricultural applications.

The pod and seed counts are important yield-related traits in ***-precision soybean breeders face the major challenge of accurately phenotyping the number of pods and seeds in a high-throughput *** advances in artificial intelligence,especially deep learning(DL)models,have provided new avenues for high-throughput phenotyping of crop traits with increased ***,the available DL models are less effective for phenotyping pods that are densely packed and overlap in insitu soybean plants;thus,accurate phenotyping of the number of pods and seeds in soybean plant is an important *** address this challenge,the present study proposed a bottom-up model,DEKR-SPrior(disentangled keypoint regression with structural prior),for insitu soybean pod phenotyping,which considers soybean pods and seeds analogous to human people and joints,*** particular,we designed a novel structural prior(SPrior)module that utilizes cosine similarity to improve feature discrimination,which is important for differentiating closely located seeds from highly similar *** further enhance the accuracy of pod location,we cropped full-sized images into smaller and high-resolution subimages for *** results on our image datasets revealed that DEKR-SPrior outperformed multiple bottom-up models,viz.,Lightweight-Open Pose,OpenPose,HigherH R Net,and DEKR,reducing the mean absolute error from 25.81(in the original DEKR)to 21.11(in the DEKR-SPrior)in pod *** paper demonstrated the great potential of DEKR-SPrior for plant phenotyping,and we hope that DEKR-SPrior will help future plant phenotyping.

The inconsistent findings concerning the effects of vitamin D supplementation on cardiometabolic risk factors and the large heterogeneity in the published literature call for further research to identify sources of heterogeneity and potential effect *** performed a meta-analysis of randomized controlled trials(RCTs)published until March 2024 that reported estimates for the effects of vitamin D supplementation on cardiometabolic factors and relevant baseline covariates of RCT participants.A total of 17656 participants from 99 RCTs were analyzed,and weighted mean differences(95%confidence intervals(CI))for the intervention status were derived using random-effects ***,compared with the placebo,vitamin D supplementation(median dose:3320 international unit(IU)·day^(-1);range 40-120000 IU·day^(-1))had favorable effects on systolic blood pressure(SBP;-2.04(95%CI,-3.50,-0.59)mmHg;1 mmHg=0.133 kPa),diastolic blood pressure(DBP;-3.00(95%CI,-3.61,-2.39)mmHg),total cholesterol(TC;-0.12(95%CI,-0.21,-0.03)mmol·L^(-1)),fasting blood glucose(FBG;-0.13(95%CI,-0.20,-0.05)mmol·L^(-1)),hemoglobin A1C(A1C;-0.09%(95%CI,-0.13%,-0.05%)),and fasting blood insulin(FBI:-7.61(95%CI,-11.93,-3.30)pmol·L^(-1)).The benefits of vitamin D were most evident in trials performed in non-Westerners,participants with baseline 25-hydroxyvitamin D(25[OH]D)lower than 15.0 ng·mL^(-1),non-obese(body mass index(BMI)he findings of this study underscore the need for personalized vitamin D intervention strategies that comprehensively account for individual patient characteristics(such as ethnocultural background,age,BMI,and circulating 25[OH]D level),intervention dosage,and intervention duration to optimize cardiometabolic health outcomes.

Calcium requirements for Chinese adults by cross-sectional statistical analyses of calcium balance studies： an individual participant data and aggregate data meta-regression

Background Chinese dietary reference intakes for calcium are largely based on foreign studies. We undertook meta- regression to estimate calcium requirements for Chinese adults derived from calcium balance data in Chinese adults. Methods We searched PubMed, Cochrane CENTRAL, and SinoMed from inception to March 5, 2014, by using a structured search strategy. The bibliographies of any relevant papers and journals were also screened for potentially eligible studies. We extracted a standardized data set from studies in Chinese adults that reported calcium balance data. The relationship between calcium intake and output was examined by an individual participant data （IPD） and aggregate data （AD） meta-regression. Results We identified 11 metabolic studies in Chinese adults within 18-60 years of age. One hundred and forty-one IPD （n=35） expressed as mg/d, 127 IPD （n=32） expressed as *** body wt-l-d-1, and 44 AD （n=132） expressed as mg/d were collected. The models predicted a neutral calcium balance （defined as calcium output （Y） equal to calcium intake （C）） at intakes of 460 mg/d （Y=0.60C＋183.98） and 8.27 *** body wt-l.d-1 （Y=0.60C＋3.33） for IPD, or 409 mg/d （Y=0.66C＋139.00） for AD. Calcium requirements at upper intakes were higher than that at lower intakes in all these models. Conclusion Calcium requirement for Chinese adults 18-60 years of age approximately ranges between 400 mg/d and 500 mg/d when consuming traditional plant-based Chinese diets.

High-energy density lithium-ion batteries(LIBs)with layered high-nickel oxide cathodes(LiNi_(x)Co_(y)Mn_(1-x-y)O_(2),x≥0.8)show great promise in consumer electronics and vehicular ***,LiNi_(x)Co_(y)Mn_(1-x-y)O_(2)faces challenges related to capacity decay caused by residual alkalis owing to high sensitivity to *** address this issue,we propose a hazardous substances upcycling method that fundamentally mitigates alkali content and concurrently induces the emergence of an anti-air-sensitive layer on the cathode *** the neutralization of polyacrylic acid(PAA)with residual alkalis and then coupling it with 3-aminopropyl triethoxysilane(KH550),a stable and ion-conductive cross-linked polymer layer is in situ integrated into the LiNi_(0.89)Co_(0.06)Mn_(0.05)O_(2)(NCM)*** characterization and measurements demonstrate its *** NCM material exhibits impressive cycling performance,retaining 88.4%of its capacity after 200 cycles at 5 C and achieving an extraordinary specific capacity of 170.0 mA h g^(-1) at 10 ***,this layer on the NCM efficiently suppresses unfavorable phase transitions,severe electrolyte degradation,and CO_(2)gas evolution,while maintaining commendable resistance to air *** surface modification strategy shows widespread potential for creating air-stable LiNi_(x)Co_(y)Mn_(1-x-y)O_(2)cathodes,thereby advancing high-performance LIBs.
