The impact of temporal variation of rainfall on the relationship between rainfall and catchment response is investigated in a catchment with high temporally variable rainfalls and a high percentage of permeable soils in the southwest of ***-nine storm events are classified into two classes, High Temporal heterogeneous(HT) and Low Temporal heterogeneous(LT) events using the variogram technique and the storm events of each class are analyzed to detect the relationship between Curve Number(CN) and rainfall depth. It is found that there is not a similar correlation between CN values and rainfall depths for both temporally variable classes, and hence, two different responses can be observed in the catchment according to rainfall temporal heterogeneities. for HT events, a complacent behavior is detected in which the CNs decline as rainfall depth increases while a different response, violent behavior, is observed for LT events in which the CNs rise and asymptotically approach a constant value with increasing storm size. This considerable difference between CN-P relationships derived from the two temporally variable classes of rainfall is attributed to the provocation of different runoff generation mechanisms, infiltration-excess and saturation-excess caused by rainfall temporal heterogeneities. Moreover, the results support the validity of variogram technique to classify storm events into two LT and HT classes.

Diabetes is one of the fastest-growing human diseases worldwide and poses a significant threat to the population’s longer *** prediction of diabetes is crucial to taking precautionary steps to avoid or delay its *** this study,we proposed a Deep Dense Layer Neural Network(DDLNN)for diabetes prediction using a dataset with 768 instances and nine *** also applied a combination of classical machine learning(ML)algorithms and ensemble learning algorithms for the effective prediction of the *** classical ML algorithms used were Support Vector Machine(SVM),Logistic Regression(LR),Decision Tree(DT),K-Nearest Neighbor(KNN),and Naïve Bayes(NB).We also constructed ensemble models such as bagging(Random forest)and boosting like AdaBoost and Extreme Gradient Boosting(XGBoost)to evaluate the performance of prediction *** proposed DDLNN model and ensemble learning models were trained and tested using hyperparameter tuning and K-fold cross-validation to determine the best parameters for predicting the *** combined ML models used majority voting to select the best outcomes among the *** efficacy of the proposed and other models was evaluated for effective diabetes *** investigation concluded that the proposed model,after hyperparameter tuning,outperformed other learning models with an accuracy of 84.42%,a precision of 85.12%,a recall rate of 65.40%,and a specificity of 94.11%.

Estimation of scour dimensions below submarine pipelines is a vital step in designing offshore *** events like tsunami waves produce strong erosive forces below the underwater pipes,apt to create scour holes,jeopardizing the safety of the *** the importance of this issue,previous studies have mainly focused on steady flow cases,and the scour pattern below submarine pipes induced by high-amplitude transient waves has rarely been *** paper reports the results of 40 experimental runs on transient wave-induced scour below a model pipe in a laboratory flume under a variety of initial *** variables included the bed particle size and gradation,initial water depth,wave height,and slope of the bed *** were generated by a sudden release of water from a sluice gate,installed in the middle of the flume.A pressure transducer data acquisition system was used to record the wave heights at different time *** results indicate that,with a shallower initial depth of flow,the scour depth is relatively *** was also found that there exists a direct correlation between the induced wave height and the size of the scour *** was observed that,in clear water conditions,the size of the scour hole in coarse sediments is smaller,while in live-bed conditions,larger scour holes are created in coarser *** was also observed that at high wave amplitudes,the live-bed conditions are dominant,and consequently the bed elevation is altered.

Study on genetic coadaptability of wild quail populations in China

Genetic coadaptability of wild Japanese quail, wild Common quail and Domestic quail populations in China was studied using 7 microsatellite DNA markers and Monte Carlo method to test genetic disequilibrium. The molecular effects of genetic coadaptability were analyzed through a new statistical model of neutral site. The results showed that genetic coadaptability dominated the genetic disequilibrium of the three quail populations, and totally 16.67%, 9.66% and 10.05% of non-allelic combinations were in the genetic disequilibrium in wild Japanese quail, wild Common quail and Do-mestic quail populations, respectively. Genetic coadaptability existed at almost all the tested sites. In the molecular point of view, genetic coadaptability plays an important role of keeping lots of poly-morphisms in natural populations. Therefore, it is another key factor to the genetic disequilibrium in the population except for linkage. The results enrich the conceptions and connotations of genetic disequilibrium, and help us know more about genetic coadaptability and its effects, and lay a founda-tion of evaluation and protection of wild quail genetic resources in China.

flow behavior and deposition study of pollen-shape carrier particles in an idealized inhalation path model

Pollen-shape （spiked sphere） hydroxyapatite （HA） particles for drug carrier application are studied. The particle shape and size effect on flow characteristics and deposition are assessed. The pollen-shape HA particles are synthesized to have comparable size as typical carrier particles with mean diameter of 30-50 μm and effective density less than 0.3 g/cm^3. The flow behaviors of HA and commonly used lactose （LA） carrier particles are characterized by the Carr＇s compressibility index （CI）. The HA particles have lower CI than the LA particles for the same size range. The flow fields of HA and LA carrier particles are measured in an idealized inhalation path model using particle image velocimetry （PLY） technique. The particle streamlines indicate that a large portion of particles may deposit at the bending section due to inertial impaction and gravitational deposition. The flow field result shows that HA particles give smaller separation regions than the LA particles for the same size range. The pollen-shape HA particles are found to be able to follow the gas flow in the model and minimize undesired deposition. Deposition result confirms the bending section to have the most deposition. Deposition is found to be a function of particle properties. An empirical correlation is derived for the deposition efficiency of the pollen-shape particles as a function of particles Stokes number.
