TOXICITY OF TWO HERBICIDES 2,4-D DIMETHYLAMINE AND BENSULFURON METHYL TO RICE FIELD CHIRONOMUS KIIENSIS (TOKUNAGA) (DIPTERA:CHIRONOMIDAE)

Fourth instar larvae of Chironomus kiiensis (Tokunaga) were exposed to various concentrations of two commonly used herbicides: 2,4 - D Dimethylamine and Bensulfuron methyl in the rice fields. The bioassay experiment was carried out in a rearing unit in the laboratory at a room temperature ((27 ±2) °C). A thin layer of sand sediments and tissue papers were provided as substrate in each unit. Each concentration of all herbicides was prepared in 250 mL distilled water. The experiment was performed in triplicate and 20 chironomid larvae were placed in each rearing unit. The larvae were fed with fish food (Sanyuichiban®) at 2 d intervals and all units were aerated by air pumps. The experiment was monitored every 24 h for mortality of C. kiiensis. The 2,4 - D Dimethylamine bioassay was carried out for 24 h while Bensulfuron methyl was run for 72 h. Dead larvae, pupae and living or dead adults were counted and removed daily. The LC50 of 2,4 - D Dimethylamine was 2 638 mg ai L-1, more than 2 000 times higher than the recommended dose of 0.753 mg ai L-1 used for controlling weeds in the rice field. Bensulfuron methyl was more toxic than the 2,4 - D Dimethylamine. The LC 50 of the Bensulfuron methyl was recorded at 1.29 mg ai L -1, and approximately was more 20 times than that of the recommended dose of 0.057 mg ai L-1. Bensulfuron methyl was found to be slow acting. The mortality of the larvae was only observed after 72 h. However, this herbicide interfered with the emergence of C. kiiensis to adults at and above the recommended dose used in the rice fields. Based on their LC50 values, this study showed that applying these herbicides in the rice fields at doses recommended by the manufacturers was safe for C. kiiensis and presumably to other living organisms in the water.

Impact of CYP2C19＊2 and CYP2C19＊3 Polymorphisms on the Response to Clopidogrel and Running Cost Analyses

We investigated the variability in the PFT （platelet function test） response to CYP2C19 polymorphisms and compared it with the clinical presentation. Furthermore, running cost analyses were done. One-hundred and seventy Saudi Arabian patients who were stable on 75 mg clopidogrel for ≥1 month for various cardiac indications were enrolled. We extracted DNA using the MagNA Pure LC instrument. CYP2C19 genotyping for the alleles, ＊1, ＊2 and ＊3, was conducted by real-time PCR （polymerase chain reaction）. The PFT was carried out by VerifyNow P2Y12 assay for all patients. Clinical events were documented retrospectively for all patients. One hundred and seventeen patients presented with the wild variant 1/1, 19 patients with 1/2, and 34 patients with 2/2. We could not detect ＊3. There was a significant association between different genotyping and percentage inhibitions （P = 0.0002）. 1/1 patients tended to be moderate-to-extensive metabolisers, whereas most of the other patients were slow metabolisers. The cost of doing the PFT was 250 SR （Saudi Riyals）/patient and 200 SR/patient for kits and materials （excluding equipment and labour）. The PFT varied considerably with polymorphisms, but showed no significant associations with clinical symptoms.

Effect of Using Magnetic Brackish Water on Irrigated Bell Pepper Crop （Capsicum annuum L.） Characteristics in Lower Jordan Valley/West Bank

Increasing salinity of the groundwater is one of major challenges faced by agricultural sector in West Bank/Palestine. This study was carried out in the Lower Jordan Valley （LJV） under greenhouse field condition, where an area of 0.12 ha was irrigated with 3.5 dS/m magnetic treated water during the growing season 2012/2013. The results of this pilot project show that there are significant increases in the yield of red and yellow bell pepper of about 20% and 18% on fresh weight basis, respectively. Water use efficiency increased by 15% and an increase in shelf time of 7 d were also recorded. The chlorophyll content raised significantly in the leaves of treated plants compared to the controlled one by 2.5 mg/g. Bell pepper irrigated with magnetic water produces 37% more four champers than that of the controlled one. On the other hand, there were no clear significant effects on the height of the plant, number of fruits, distance between nods, size of fruits, number and thickness of walls and sugar contents. Applying visible/near infrared （VIS/N｜R） spectroscopy test shows that it is possible to distinguish between treated and controlled bell pepper fruits. Multivariate data analysis （MVDA） method was used to test the classification of chemical elements in the fruit and it was found that treated and controlled fruit samples are divided into two groups according to their water treatment. An increase in all nutrient concentrations was found in fruits irrigated with magnetic treated water compared with the controlled one. Further testing is needed especially by involving other variables such as decreasing the volume of irrigated water and fertilizers.

Abnormal growth of brain tissues is the real cause of brain *** for the diagnosis of brain tumor at initial stages is one of the key step for saving the life of a *** manual segmentation of brain tumor magnetic resonance images(MRIs)takes time and results vary significantly in low-level *** address this issue,we have proposed a ResNet-50 feature extractor depended on multilevel deep convolutional neural network(CNN)for reliable images segmentation by considering the low-level features of *** this model,we have extracted features through ResNet-50 architecture and fed these feature maps to multi-level CNN *** handle the classification process,we have collected a total number of 2043 MRI patients of normal,benign,and malignant *** model CNN,multi-level CNN,and ResNet-50 based multi-level CNN have been used for detection and classification of brain *** the model results are calculated in terms of various numerical values identified as precision(P),recall(R),accuracy(Acc)and f1-score(F1-S).The obtained average results are much better as compared to already existing *** modified transfer learning architecture might help the radiologists and doctors as a better significant system for tumor diagnosis.

The precise brain tumor diagnosis is critical and shows a vital role in the medical support for treating tumor *** brain tumor segmentation for cancer analysis from many Magnetic Resonance Images(MRIs)created in medical practice is a problematic and timewasting task for *** a result,there is a critical necessity for more accurate computeraided methods for early tumor *** remove this gap,we enhanced the computational power of a computer-aided system by proposing a finetuned Block-Wise Visual Geometry Group19(BW-VGG19)*** this method,a pre-trained VGG19 is fine-tuned with CNN architecture in the block-wise mechanism to enhance the system`s *** publicly accessible Contrast-Enhanced Magnetic Resonance Imaging(CE-MRI)dataset collected from 2005 to 2020 from different hospitals in China has been used in this *** proposed method is simple and achieved an accuracy of 0.98%.We compare our technique results with the existing Convolutional Neural network(CNN),VGG16,and VGG19 *** results indicate that our proposed technique outperforms the best results associated with the existing methods.

Cytokine profile in Egyptian hepatitis C virus genotype-4 in relation to liver disease progression

AIM： To observe the imbalance between T helper cell Th1 and Th2 cytokines in several chronic hepatitis disease at different stages of disease progression. METHODS： We measured the cytokine levels of Thl （IL-2 and IL-2R）, Th2 （IL-10） and the pro-inflammatory cytokines （IL-6 and IL-6R and TNF and TNF-RI and II） by the ELISA technique in the sera of 33 hepatocellular carcinoma （HCC） patients and 20 chronic liver disease （CLD） patients. In addition, 20 asymptomatic hepatitis C virus carriers and 20 healthy subjects negative for hepatitis C virus（HCV） markers served as controls. RESULTS： Anti-HCV antibodies were found to be positive in 94% of HCC cases and 75% of CLD cases. On the other hand, HCV viremia was detected using RT- PCR in 67% of HCC cases and 65% of CLD cases. HBsAg was positive in 9% of HCC cases and 30% of CLD cases. Also bilharziaI-Ab was positive in 55% of HCC cases, 65% of CLD cases and in 70% of asymptomatic carriers （ASC）. HCC patients had significantly higher values of IL- 2R, TNF-RII （P〈0.001）, and TNF-RI （P〉0.05）, but lower TNFα （P〈0.001） and IL-6 （P = 0.032） in comparison to ASC. But, in comparison to non-cancer controls, HCC patients had higher values of IL-2R, IL-6R, TNF-RI and TNF-RII, but lower TNF-α （P〈0.001）. CLD patients had higher IL-2R, TNF-RI, and TNF-RII （P〈0.001） than ASC. But, in comparison to non-cancer controls, CLD patients had higher values of IL-2R, TNF-RI and TNF-RII, but lower TNF-α （P〈0.001）. IL-10 was higher （though not significantly） in HCC and CLD patients than in symptomatic carriers and non-cancer controls. CONCLUSION： Liver disease progression from CLD to HCC due to HCV genotype-4 infection is associated with an imbalance between Th1 and Th2 cytokines. IL-2R, TNF-RI, and TNF-RII could be used as potential markers.

＜正＞ In this paper we consider the Hx nonlinear state feedback control for constrained input systems. The constraints on the input to the system are encoded via a quasi-norm that will enable us to perform a quasi- L2 gain analysis of the corresponding closed-loop nonlinear system. The quasi-norm allows using nonquadratic supply rates along with dissipativity theory to formulate the robust optimal control problem using Hamillon-Jacobi-Isaacs （HJI） equations. An iterative computationally efficient solution technique based on the game theoretic interpretation of the HJI equation is presented. The relation between attenuation gain and the region of asymptotic stability of the H∞controller is discussed from the game theoretic perspective. The solution is approximated at each iteration with a neural network over a predefined domain of the region of asymptotic stability of an initially stabilizing controller. The result is a closed-loop control based on a neural net that has been tuned a priori off-line.
