Des.ite progres.ive improvement in treating major depres.ive dis.rder (MDD), it remains.mos.ly unres.ons.ve to one antidepres.ant medication. Zinc is.a brain highly abundant trace metal, a brain derived neurotrophic factor (BDNF) inducer, a modulator of s.naptic plas.icity and potent s.ppres.or of the NMDA receptors. We propos.d that co-adminis.ration of zinc with the antide-pres.ants.may repres.nt a valuable regimen to improve the efficacy of thes. drugs. This.work has.been implemented to evaluate the behavioral changes.of acute and s.b-acute co-adminis.ration of zinc with Paroxtine in mice. Methods. The animals.were injected intra-peritoneal with either Paroxtine (20 mg/kg) which was.a s.lective s.rotonin reuptake inhibitor (s.RI), zinc s.lfate (30 mg/kg) or Paroxtine in combination with zinc for one day and one week (once daily). The pattern of the animal behavior was.as.es.ed in the forced s.im tes. (Fs.). Res.lts.and Dis.us.ion: The behavioral patterns.of the animals.in the Fs. include immobility, s.imming and climbing. s.cces.ful antidepres.ant s.ould decreas. the immobility time with either increas. in s.imming and/or climbing behavior bas.d on the drug pharmacological activity. Our res.lts.revealed a s.gnificant decreas. of immobility and increas. of s.imming behavior indicating s.rotonin-dependent pharmacological activity of Paroxtine or zinc alone as.well as.in the animals.treated with zinc in combination with Paroxtine. There was.no s.gnificant difference in the animals. behavior between acute and s.b-acute treatment with zinc or even upon its.addition to paroxetine. Our data s.pport the concept that co-adminis.ration of zinc may provide further antidepres.ant activity. Zinc may offer additional clinical value particularly in geriatric patients.or other populations.where zinc level has.s.own dramatic decreas..

In this.article, we dis.us. the approach to s.lving a nonlinear PDE equation, s.ecifically the p-Laplacian equation, with a general (nonlinear) boundary condition. We es.ablis. the exis.ence and uniquenes. of the s.lution, s.bject to certain as.umptions.outlined in this.paper. To s.lve our nonlinear problem us.ng the Finite Element Method (FEM), we derive an appropriate variational ***, we introduce a s.udy of the res.dual a pos.eriori-error indicator, es.ablis.ing both upper and lower bounds.to control the error. The upper bound is.determined us.ng averaging interpolators.in s.me Quas.-norms.defined by Barrett and Liu. Furthermore, we prove the equivalence between the res.dual error and the true error e=u-uh. Las.ly, we perform a s.mulation of the p-Laplacian problem in the L-s.ape domain us.ng a Matlab program in two-dimens.onal s.ace.
