Knowledge,attitudes and practices towards avian influenza A(H5N1) among Cambodian women:A cross-sectional study

Objective:To measure highly pathogenic avian influenza(HPAI)-related knowledge,attitudes, and practices(KAPs) among Cambodian ***:This cross-sectional study selected 246 married women aged between 18-55 years who had backyard poultry and lived at least one year in the areas of the survey through multi-stage cluster *** average score of correct answers was generated to evaluate respondents’ knowledge(Good/Poor).attitudes(Positive/ Negative),and practices(Good/Bad).Results:We reported that about half of the respondents had good knowledge and good practices and four-fifth of them had positive attitudes towards *** ratios(ORs) and 95%confidence intervals(CIs) were estimated through a logistic regression model to explore contributing factors that raise their KAP *** of the sources were significant in increasing knowledge of the respondent,like television(OR=l.6.95%CI=1.0- 2.7),radio(OR=2.5.95%CI=l.3-4.9).leaflets/booklets(OR=2.1,95%CI=1.2-3.9),school students (OR=18.4.95%CI=2.4-142.9).village health volunteers(OR=4.5.95%CI=2.2-10.9) *** such as television(OR=3.7.95%CI=2.1-6.4).leaflets/booklets(OR=2.6,95%CI7=1.4-5.1).and public health staff(OR=2.2,95%CI=1.2-4.1) had similar influence on ***,we found similar effect on raising the attitudes of the responded,it was not ***: We report a satisfactory level of positive attitudes,and moderate level of knowledge and practices related to HPAI among Cambodian *** KAPs through television,radio and other medias may be more efficient than using usual information,education and communication materials to prevent HPAI.

Stature estimation from footprint measurements in Bangladeshi adults

The estimation of stature is very important in forensic investigation,as it provides useful data that can narrow the pool of potentially matching *** purpose of this study was to develop formulae for the estimation of stature from footprint measurements in Bangladeshi *** study included 118 randomly selected men and 130 randomly selected women,all aged 18–50 *** each participant,stature and six footprint measurements were taken by means of standard measurement *** measurements were found to be positively correlated with *** was estimated by using linear regression *** right T1 length in men(R:þ0.587,R^(2):0.345)and the right T2 length in women(R:þ0.506,R^(2):0.256)were the most reliable individual estimators of ***,when data were combined for both sexes,the right T2 length was identified as the most reliable estimator of stature,with higher values of R(þ0.792)and R^(2)(0.627).In conclusion,human stature can be successfully estimated by using footprint measurements;this finding can be applied in forensic research and investigation.

Use of Statin is a cornerstone in modern day medical practice and an essential component for primary prevention of cardiovascular diseases (CVD). Various evidences exemplify and resonate the importance of Statins in reducing CVD mortality and improvement of survivability. However, there is a continental variation in recent guidelines directing lipid-lowering therapy in regards to aim, dose, timing as well as the protocol for initiation of therapy. Similar uncertainties exist with regards to the generalizability of the finding from available evidence, a variation of benefits of Statin with respect to age and gender, the validity of the research conducted and actual gain in survivability and mortality benefits. Thus, there is a need for looking at the actual indications, risk-benefit ratios and cost effectiveness before tediously prescribing Statin for the primary prevention of CVDs. This paper will attempt to critically review the evidence behind the uses of Statins in the primary prevention of CVDs.

Non ST elevated myocardial infarction (NSTEMI) accounts for a significant portion of the hospitalizations due to acute coronary syndromes worldwide and is posing a huge challenge towards the health care cost globally. This signifies the need for proper triage and management stratification for the best utilization of the health care resources. Primary Percutaneous Coronary Intervention (PCI) with early revascularization is a new emerging invasive technique and application of this technique is increasing tediously among the clinicians. However, the current body of evidences is divided between the efficacy, need and critical timing of PCI compared to conservative management in the treatment protocol for NSTEMI. A review of trials done comparing the early use of PCI versus conservative management indicates inconsistent finding with strong evidence towards early use of PCI in moderate to high-risk NSTEMI patients.

Stability Improvement of Power System by Using PI ＆ PD Controller

This paper presents the model of a SVC （Static VAR Compensator） which is controlled externally by a PI （Proportional Integral）＆ PD （Proportional Differential） controllers for the improvements of voltage stability and damping effect of an on line power system. Both controller parameters has been optimized by using Ziegler-Nichols close loop tuning method. Both single phase and three phase （L-L） faults have been considered in the research. In this paper, a power system network is considered which is simulated in the phasor simulation method ＆ the network is simulated in four steps; without SVC, With SVC but no externally controlled, SVC with PI controller ＆ SVC with PD controller. Simulation result shows that without SVC, the system parameters become unstable during faults. When SVC is imposed in the network, then system parameters become stable. Again, when SVC is controlled externally by PI ＆ PD controllers, then system parameters becomes stable in faster way then without controller. It has been observed that the SVC ratings are only 50 MVA with controllers and 200 MVA without controllers. So, SVC with PI ＆ PD controllers are more effective to enhance the voltage stability and increases power transmission capacity of a power system. The power system oscillations are also reduced with controllers in compared to that of without controllers. So with both controllers the system performance is greatly enhanced.

PCI in Post Thrombolysis Stable STEMI Patients: A Timeline in Question

ST elevation myocardial infarction (STEMI) occupies a significant portion of the cardiovascular disease spectrum and poses a continuing challenge on the health care delivery system worldwide. A dilemma exists in the clinical triage system for appropriate strategic modalities of treatment, based on underlying triad of patient-hospital-cardiac pathological factors as well as cut off timelines. Current European Society of Cardiology (ESC) guideline recommends percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI) within 3 to 24 hours in post thrombolysis stable patients. This review critically evaluated the evidences underlying the ESC recommendation. Trials included in this review are SIAM III, GRACIA 1, CAPITAL-AMI, CARESS-IN-AMI, NORDISTEMI, PRAGUE-1, WEST and LEIPZIG. Most of the evidences support the notion for immediate post thrombolysis PCI in stable patients within 1.9 to 2.7 hours, which contradicts the ESC timeline of up to 24 hours. Also, there is a reduced generalizability of the trial results due to differences in the design of the various trials, study population, composite endpoints, variations in drug dose & formulation, co-administration of pharmacotherapies and type of stents used. This warrants further research for standardization & optimization of the treatment protocol with respect to post thrombolysis PCI in stable STEMI patients.

The peripheral rivers of Dhaka city became highly polluted because of industrialization and urbanization to a greater extent in the last few ***,an attempt has been taken to measure 48 elements in water of the river Buriganga using the ICP-MS method for the first ***,it could be the reference values for future research in *** of the 48 elements,the following metals are given more attention because of their detrimental effects on living organisms and for discussing their aquatic chemistry in polluted water body:Be,Na,Al,Cr,Mn,Fe,Ni,Cu,Zn,Cd,Ba,Hg,Pb,Bi and *** revealed that metals’concentrations in water in the monsoon were less than that of the winter,however,Cr and Fe were found at below detection limits in the winter that is *** parameters of the river water such as pH,dissolved oxygen play vital roles for hydrolysis reactions in the stagnant water *** products of metal ions having low values of solubility products(K sp),for example,iron(III)hydroxide,chromium(III)hydroxide,phase out through precipitation *** study also detects and quantifies total concentrations of Hg and U in water of the river Buriganga for the first *** and correlation matrix results provided potential sources of the relevant *** of hydrolysis and precipitation reactions for metal ions in the polluted river water are also discussed.

Relationship between Seed Priming Mediated Seedling Vigor and Yield Performance of Spring Wheat

Seed priming is a pre-germinated technique that can enhance seed germination percentage,faster and synchro-nized germination,better seedling growth,and yield under stress *** ascertain the most effective seed priming method that would ensure the potential yield of wheat in Bangladesh,two experiments were carried out from December 2021 to March 2022 at the Department of Agronomy,Bangladesh Agricultural *** wheat varieties namely BARI Gom-28 and BWMRI Gom-1 were subjected to a range of priming chemicals in both lab and pot *** compounds included the following:control(no priming),hydropriming(distilled water),10000 ppm KNO_(3),15000 ppm KNO_(3),40000 ppm Mannitol,60000 ppm Mannitol,10000 ppm NaCl,20000 ppm NaCl,100 ppm PEG,150 ppm PEG,500 ppm NaOCl,1000 ppm NaOCl,10000 ppm CaCl_(2),20000 ppm CaCl_(2),10000 ppm KCl and 20000 ppm KCl.A complete randomized design(CRD)with three repli-cations was used to set up the *** results showed that BARI Gom-28 and BWMRI Gom-1 responded best to KCl priming in terms of rapid seed germination and strong seedling *** the other hand,the best priming agents for plant growth and productivity turned out to be CaCl_(2) and *** results of this study support the possibility of using seed priming as a technique to improve wheat plant development and output by raising seed emergence and survival rates.

Survey of Penaeus monodon Post Larvae in Semi Saline Zone of Kholpatua River of Satkhira Near Sundarbans Reserved Forest Bangladesh

This study monitored the present status ofPenaeus monodon post larvae （PL.） of Kholpatua river in Satkhira. The survey was conducted in Kholpatua river from January 2014 to December 2014 and was compared with the ten years old secondary data. The results showed that there was a 41.57% decrease in number of catches ofP. monodon PL. over the course of time from ten years ago to the year of 2014. Although the number of active fishermen＇s boats have increased from 250 to 360 in ten years. The study also showed that the severe shrimp seed collection activities reduced the availability ofP. monodon PL. at Satkhira district, which has a severe negative impact on the availability of total catches. To control such decrease of P. monodon PL. in Bangladesh, more intensive study should be done.

The Prospect and Feasibility Assessment of Brine Shrimp （Artemia franciscana） Culture in Bangladesh

A laboratory-based work was conducted on development, biometry （cyst diameter, hatching efficiency and hatching percentage） and survival rate of Artemia franciscana at 35 ppt using natural brine water under constant aeration facilities. The experiment was carried out for both chorionic and decapsulated cysts. There was a significant increase in hatching output of the decapsulated cysts than the chorionic cysts. The survival rate was counted only for the chorionic cysts because nauplii hatched from decapsulated cysts died after four days of incubation before reaching the adult stage. Untill now the Artemia cysts are imported from abroad. Though the prospect of mass production of Artemia in Bangladesh is feasible but there needs to be more studies done.
