A new approach to model viscosity in the conservation of momentum equations is presented and discussed. Coefficient of viscosity is modeled in such a way that it reaches asymptotically to infinity at the solid boundary but still yields a finite value for the shear stress at the solid wall. Basic objective of this research is to show that certain combinations of higher order normal velocity gradients become zero at the solid boundary. Malled solutions for the Couette flow and Poiseuille flow between two parallel plates are obtained by modeling the coefficient of viscosity in a novel way. Also, viscous drag computed by our model is expected to yield higher values than the values predicted by the existing models, which matches closely to the experimental data.

The purpose of this paper is to devise a new model of heat conduction for a body which istotally insulated at its boundary. The essence of the new model is modification of the Fourier law insuch a way that the resulting heat conduction problem will be fonnulated as an initial value problemwith a nonstandard partial differential equation. The values of normal derivatives of the heat fiuxto various orders for all tmies (t> 0) will be detemined by the governing partial differential equa-tion and the values of normal derivatives of fluxes at the initial time (t=0). We study the properitesof this model and demonstrate its validity for a simple onedimensional case of a thin bar insulatedat both ends.

The response of the Yalu River Estuary to human activities was *** of sediment dynamics during the past 10 years were explored through hydrodynamic calculation,as well as heavy mineral and grain size *** addition,the characteristics of estuarine geomorphological evolution were compared with historical *** long-term sediment dynamic process and geomorphological evolution were primarily affected by the decrease of water discharge and sediment supply resulting from human *** entire estuarine system of Yalu River Estuary has also undergone significant changes since 1941 that are associated with water reduction and sediment discharge affected by construction *** estuary eventually formed the current patterns in the *** with variations of water and sediment discharge,sand dredging directly affected the estuarine sediment dynamics in the past 10 *** from six hydrodynamic stations measured in 2009 indicated that the bedload transport flux has substantially decreased during a tidal cycle compared with that surveyed in *** bedload transport direction also changed from seaward in 1996 to landward in *** addition,the estuarine bed load movement changes were:(a) sediment from areas with water depth being less than 5 m was transported from the sea towards the land;(b) sediment transport from areas with water depth between 5 to 20 m was oriented towards the sea;and (c) sediment from areas with water depth greater than 20 m was conveyed from the sea towards the land.

Expansive soils cause problems with the founding of lightly loaded structures in many parts of the world. Foundation design for expansive soils is one of the most discussed and problematic issues in australia as expansive soils were responsible for billions of dollars＇ worth of damage to man-made structures such as buildings and roads. Several studies and reports indicate that one of the most common and least recognized problems causing severe structural damage to houses lies in expansive soils. In this study, a critical review has been carried out on the current australian standards for building on expansive soils and they are compared with some techniques that are not included in the current australian standards for residential slabs and footings. Based on the results of this review, the most effective and economical method has been proposed for construction of footings on all site classifications without restriction to 75mm of characteristic movement. In addition, it has become apparent that as design procedures for footings resting on sites with extreme characteristic movements are not included in the current australian standards, there is a strong need for well-developed and simplified standard design procedures for characteristic soil movement of greater than 75mm to be included into the australian Standards.

AN INFORMATION FUSION METHOD FOR SENSOR DATA RECTIFICATION

In the applications of water regime monitoring, incompleteness, and inaccuracy of sensor data may directly affect the reliability of acquired monitoring information. Based on the spatial and temporal correlation of water regime monitoring information, this paper addresses this issue and proposes an information fusion method to implement data rectification. An improved Back Propagation (BP) neural network is used to perform data fusion on the hardware platform of a stantion unit, which takes Field-Programmable Gate Array (FPGA) as the core component. In order to verify the effectiveness, five measurements including water level, discharge and velocity are selected from three different points in a water regime monitoring station. The simulation results show that this method can recitify random errors as well as gross errors significantly.
