Computationally efficient locality-aware interconnection topology for multi-processor system-on-chip(MP-SoC)

This paper evaluates the Triplet Based Architecture,TriBA-a new idea in chip multiprocessor architectures and a class of Direct Interconnection Network(DIN).TriBA consists of a 2D grid of small,programmable processing units,each physically connected to its three neighbors so that advantageous features of group locality can be fully and efficiently *** communication model can be well characterized by locality properties and,any topology has its intrinsic,structural,locality *** propose a new criterion in performance evaluation that is based on the concept of locality in an interconnection network,the "lower layer complete connect".Our proposed criterion depicts how completely a processing node is connected to all its *** is compared with 2D Mesh and Binary Tree as static interconnection *** comparison/evaluation is enumerated from three orthogonal view points,viz.,computational speed,physical layout and *** analysis concludes that TriBA is computationally efficient interconnection strategy that exploits group locality in processing nodes.

Locality Aware Optimal Task Scheduling Algorithm for TriBA —— A Novel Scalable Architecture

An optimal algorithmic approach to task scheduling for, triplet based architecture（TriBA）, is proposed in this paper. TriBA is considered to be a high performance, distributed parallel computing architecture. TriBA consists of a 2D grid of small, programmable processing units, each physically connected to its three neighbors. In parallel or distributed environment an efficient assignment of tasks to the processing elements is imperative to achieve fast job turnaround time. Moreover, the sojourn time experienced by each individual job should be minimized. The arriving jobs are comprised of parallel applications, each consisting of multiple-independent tasks that must be instantaneously assigned to processor queues, as they arrive. The processors independently and concurrently service these tasks. The key scheduling issues is, when some queue backlogs are small, an incoming job should first spread its tasks to those lightly loaded queues in order to take advantage of the parallel processing gain. Our algorithmic approach achieves optimality in task scheduling by assigning consecutive tasks to a triplet of processors exploiting locality in tasks. The experimental results show that tasks allocation to triplets of processing elements is efficient and optimal. Comparison to well accepted interconnection strategy, 2D mesh, is shown to prove the effectiveness of our algorithmic approach for TriBA. Finally we conclude that TriBA can be an efficient interconnection strategy for computations intensive applications, if tasks assignment is carried out optimally using algorithmic approach.

Oxidative desulfurization of dibenzothiophene over Fe promoted Co–Mo/Al_2O_3 and Ni–Mo/Al_2O_3 catalysts using hydrogen peroxide and formic acid as oxidants

This work reports the enhancing effect of a highly cost effective and efficient metal, Fe, incorporation to Co or Ni based Mo/Al_2O_3 catalysts in the oxidative desulfurization(ODS) of dibenzothiophene(DBT) using H_2O_2 and formic acid as oxidants. The influence of operating parameters i.e. reaction time, catalyst dose, reaction temperature and oxidant amount on oxidation process was investigated. Results revealed that 99% DBT conversion was achieved at 60 °C and 150 min reaction time over Fe–Ni–Mo/Al_2O_3. Fe tremendously enhanced the ODS activity of Co or Ni based Mo/Al_2O_3 catalysts following the activity order: Fe–Ni–Mo/Al_2O_3 NFe–Co–Mo/Al_2O_3 NNi–Mo/Al_2O_3 NCo–Mo/Al_2O_3, while H_2O_2 exhibited higher oxidation activity than formic acid over all catalyst systems. Insight about the surface morphology and textural properties of fresh and spent catalysts were achieved using scanning electron microscopy(SEM), X-ray diffraction(XRD), energy dispersive X-ray(EDX)analysis, Atomic Absorption Spectroscopy(AAS) and BET surface area analysis, which helped in the interpretation of experimental data. The present study can be deemed as an effective approach on industrial level for ODS of fuel oils crediting to its high efficiency, low process/catalyst cost, safety and mild operating condition.

常规热喷涂工艺制备的金属涂层内的粒子界面弱结合导致其不能为基材提供长效的腐蚀防护,因此,采用大气等离子喷涂,实现粒子间的冶金结合,制备高致密Al-15%WC(体积分数)复合涂层。结果表明,由于WC颗粒中C元素的去氯效应,以及超高温熔滴(>1800℃)间的自冶金结合,在最优等离子喷涂条件下制备出无氧化物杂质的涂层。涂层的致密结构使其表现出优异耐腐蚀性能,其腐蚀电流密度比镁合金基体降低4个数量级,比纯铝块材降低2个数量级。WC硬质颗粒的添加使Al-WC复合涂层的耐磨损性能相较纯Al块材提高1个数量级。

Single Stage Oncologic Resection and Reconstruction: A Step toward Development of Sarcoma Service in Resource Constrained Country

Tumor free-margin surgical resection remains the single most important treatment in the curative therapy of musculoskeletal tumor of limbs. Refinements in surgical techniques have led to increased function preservation and limb salvage. Patients and Methods: The records of patients (n = 24) who underwent microsurgical soft tissue reconstruction subsequent to resection of limb tumour during the period 2006 to 2011 were reviewed. Primary outcome i.e. uptake of the flap was evaluated. Perioperative morbidities were also noted including donor as well as recipient site complications. Assessment of Functional outcome (Musculoskeletal Tumor Society score, MSTS) local recurrence, free survival, and disease-specific survival was also made. Results: Twenty four patients (age range: 7 - 72 years) who have undergone tumor resection followed by flap coverage were identified. Lower limb reconstruction outnumbered upper limb by 6:1. Complications included, one complete failure of free vascularized iliac crest flap done for reconstruction of a heel defect. One of the patients had secondary hemorrhage 10 days after surgery. Another patient with internal hemipelvectomy for Ewing’s sarcoma had a dura puncture during resection of sacrum. Partial epidermal necrosis was evident in four cases. Eighty three percent of the patients remained alive (n = 20), 19 of whom currently have no evidence of disease (NED) Disease recurrence was noted in three patients. Overall MSTS score was 73.5%. Conclusion: The microsurgical repair of defects is a reliable option that, though not free of complications, is necessary in selected cases. The procedure enables both adequate oncosurgical resection and function preservation.

Privacy and security federated reference architecture for Internet of Things

Physical objects are getting connected to the Internet at an exceptional rate,making the idea of the Internet of Things(IoT)a *** IoT ecosystem is evident everywhere in the form of smart homes,health care systems,wearables,connected vehicles,and *** has given rise to risks associated with the privacy and security of *** issues and cyber attacks on IoT devices may potentially hinder the growth of IoT products due to deficiencies in the *** counter these issues,we need to implement privacy and security right from the building blocks of *** IoT architecture has evolved over the years,improving the stack of architecture with new solutions such as scalability,management,interoperability,and *** emphasizes the need to standardize and organize the IoT reference architecture in federation with privacy and security *** this study,we examine and analyze 12 existing IoT reference architectures to identify their shortcomings on the basis of the requirements addressed in the *** propose an architecture,the privacy-federated IoT security reference architecture(PF-IoT-SRA),which interprets all the involved privacy metrics and counters major threats and attacks in the IoT communication *** is a step toward the standardization of the domain *** effectively validate our proposed reference architecture using the architecture trade-off analysis method(ATAM),an industry-recognized scenario-based approach.

Outcome ofJudet＇s quadricepsplasty for knee contractures and the effect of local infiltration of epinephrine on reducing blood loss

OBJECTIVE:To evaluate the effectiveness of Judet's quadricepsplasty for treatment of knee contractures and to identify the effect of local infiltration of epinephrine on blood loss associated with this procedure.;METHODS:A retrospective cohort study was conducted in which all cases of knee contractures managed with Judet's quadricepsplasty from 1st January 2009 to 31st December 2013 were included and were divided into two groups. The epinephrine group included patients who were infiltrated with diluted epinephrine (1:400,000) along with xylocaine, around the operative field 15 min prior to the incision time, while the control group did not receive any infiltration. Judet's outcome, blood loss, drop in hemoglobin and required blood transfusion were noted for all patients and compared between both groups.;RESULTS:Most common preceding pathology identified for the development of knee contractures was periarticular fracture while ilizarov application was the most common etiology. Both groups were found similar in all preoperative characteristics except preoperative flexion contracture (p = 0.02). All functional outcome measures including Judet's outcome were similar in both groups. In contrast, duration of surgery (p = 0.01), blood loss (p = 0.02), drop in hemoglobin (p = 0.01) and number of transfusions (p = 0.03) were significantly reduced in epinephrine group.;CONCLUSIONS:Judet's quadricepsplasty is a useful procedure to increase the range of motion of rigid knees and local infiltration of epinephrine is effective in decreasing the amount of subsequent blood loss and transfusion requirements.
