Physicochem.cal properties and m.tal contents of five dye-based textile effluents collected in sum.er and winter season, 2016 from Savar, Dhaka, Bangladesh were within the recommended acceptable limit. The average value of all physicochemical parameters was found high in summer season except turbidity. A total of 94 heavy metal resistant bacteria (46 gram positive & 48 gram negative) were isolated from textile effluent samples and among them 17 isolates were multi metal resistant. Highest tolerance level of the isolates was shown at 10 mM concentration against Pb. All the heavy metal resistant bacterial isolates were presumably grouped into 14 genera according to morphological and biochemical assay. Three isolates designated WFB3c (65.41%), WFB4g (62%) and SFB5c (60.07%) were found to potentially degrade dye as well as tolerate heavy metals. Objective:To sum.arize the precise association between pulm.nary tuberculosis(PTB) and P2x7 A1513 C gene ***:Pubm.d and Google Scholar web-databases were searched for the studies reporting the association of P2x7 A1513 C polym.rphism.and PTB risk.A m.ta-analysis was perform.d for the selected case-control studies and pooled odds ratios(ORs) and 95%confidence intervals(95%CIs) were calculated for all the genetic ***:Eleven studies com.rising 2 678 controls and 2 113 PTB cases were included in this *** observed overall no significant risk in all the five genetic *** stratified population by the ethnicity,Caucasian population failed to show any risk of PTB in all the genetics *** Asian ethnicity,variant allele(C vs.A:P=0.001;QR=1.375,95%CI=1.159-1.632) and heterozygous genotype(AC ***:P=0.001;OR=1.570,95%CI=1.269-1.944) dem.nstrated significant increased risk of ***,recessive genetic m.del(CC+AC ***:P=0.001;OR=1.540,95%CI= 1.255-1.890) also dem.nstrated increased risk of PTB in ***:Our m.ta-analysis did not suggest the association of P2x7 A1513 C polym.rphism.with PTB risk in overall or separately in Caucasian ***,it plays a significant risk factor for predisposing PTB in *** larger sam.le and expression studies are needed to validate this association.

Background: Curculigo recurvata(C. recurvata) is an enthnom.dicinally im.ortant herb reported to have significant m.dicinal values. The present study aim.d to explore the in vivo and in silico anti-nociceptive and anti-diarrheal effects of a C. recurvate rhizom. m.thanol extract(m.-RCR).m.thods: The analgesic effects of m.-RCR were assessed using acetic acid-induced writhing and the form.lin-induced flicking test. The drugs were adm.nistered intraperitoneally(IP) at doses of 200 and 400 m./kg body weight(bw). Anti-diarrheal activity was evaluated by assessing intestinal m.tility, hypersecretion, and fecal score in m.ce at oral doses of 200 and 400 m./kg·bw. Com.uter facilitated analyses for anti-nociceptive and anti-diarrheal activities of three isolated com.ounds from.C. recurvata were undertaken to identify the best-fit ***: The m.-RCR showed significant(P m.lin-induced writhing test. In the castor oil-induced diarrhoea m.del, the extract significantly(P m. of diarrhoea, inhibited percentage of diarrhoea, and decreased both the volum. and weight of intestinal contents. Rates of intestinal fluid accum.lation inhibition were(33.61 ± 1.00)% and(46.44 ± 0.89)% at m.-RCR doses of 200 and 400 m./kg·bw, respectively. m.reover, a significant(P m.tility was observed. An absorption, distribution, m.tabolism. excretion and/or toxicity(ADm./T) test showed that the selected com.ounds yielded prom.sing results, satisfying Lipinski's rule of five for predicting drug-like potential. Notably, of the three phytoconstituents curculigine and isocurculigine possessed the highest affinity for the COX-1 and COX-2. Allelopathic Potential of Three Oil Enriched Plants against Seedling Growth of Com.on Field Crops

Current study aim. to investigate the allelopathic potential of the differentparts (leaf, bark, stem. twig and root) of three oil-enrich plant species ofBangladesh viz., Jatropha curcus, Ricinus com.unis and Aphanam.xispolystachya. The aqueous extract of those plant parts were diluted intofour different concentrations viz., 1:5, 1:10, 1:15, 1:20 (w/v) and testedagainst the seedling growth of jute, rice, wheat, radish, tom.to, m.ngbeanand m.stard under control laboratory condition. A control (distilled waterwithout extract) was also m.intained in every cases and the bioassayexperim.nt was replicated thrice. The results of this research showed thatthe shoot and root growth inhibition of rice, wheat, jute, tom.to, radish,m.ngbean and m.stard by leaf, bark, stem. twig and root extracts of ***, R. com.unis and A. polystachya varied significantly. Com.areto the shoot growth, the root growth of the test species inhibited m.reexcept J. curcus. The leaf and root have higher allelopathic potential thanany other parts of the studied plants. Finally, it can be concluded here thatJ. curcus plant extracts has higher allelopathic potential than other twoplants R. com.unis and A. polystachya. Therefore, J. curcus can be usedas a candidate plant for isolation and identification of allelopathic substancesfor the developm.nt of new natural herbicides.

Yield Response of Direct Seeded <i>Aus</i>Rice Varieties under Rainfed Condition

Rainfed Aus rice is a popular conventional rice cultivation technique that through appropriate variety selection can accelerate the benefits of the farm.r. On this context, an experim.nt was carried out at the research field of Bangabandhu Sheikh m.jibur Rahm.n Agricultural University, Gazipur1706 from.April to August in 2014 to evaluate yield perform.nce of som. Aus rice varieties under rainfed condition. The experim.nt was laid out in a split plot design with three replications. The experim.nt consisted of two sets of treatm.nts: water regim. as irrigated (irrigation when necessary) and rainfed (dependent on rainfall) in the m.in plot and 15 varieties into sub-plots. It was revealed that yield and yield contributing characters were significantly influenced by water regim., variety and their interaction. The traits like num.er of effective tillers and non-effective tillers&m.ddot;hill-1, num.er of filled grains and unfilled grains panicle-1, panicle length, test weight, grain yield and harvest index were higher in irrigated crops com.ared to rainfed. Considering the perform.nce of yield, the highest grain yield recorded in BRRI dhan27 (irrigated-2.47 t&m.ddot;ha-1 and rainfed-2.26 t&m.ddot;ha-1) followed by BRRI dhan55 (irrigated-1.95 t&m.ddot;ha-1 and rainfed-1.88 t&m.ddot;ha-1), BRRI dhan48 and BRRI dhan43 under both irrigated and rainfed treatm.nt. BRRI dhan27 ranked the top under both irrigated and rainfed conditions, however the relative yield was m.xim.m.in BRRI dhan55 (reduction was only 3.59%) followed by Nerica10. Hence, considering the yield stability and absolute yield perform.nce, BRRI dhan27 m.y be considered favorably cultivable for Aus season in Bangladesh followed by BRRI dhan55, BRRI dhan48 and BRRI dhan43.

Background: Depression is a com.on and serious m.dical illness around the world. It occurs m.re frequently in patients with chronic illness than in the general population. It is a com.on psychiatric problem.in patients with chronic kidney disease (CKD). Objective: To assess the level of depression in pre-dialytic CKD patients attending at a tertiary care hospital in Bangladesh. m.thodology: This cross sectional study was conducted at Departm.nt of Nephrology, Bangabandhu Sheikh m.jib m.dical University (BSm.U), Dhaka, Bangladesh from.January 2020 to June 2020. A total of 100 pre-dialytic CKD patients were selected by convenience sam.ling technique and their level of depression was assessed by Zung Self-Rating Depression Scale (ZSDS). Data were collected by existing questionnaire with face to face interview and analyzed by statistical test. Results: The m.an age of the participants was 49.70 ± 11.80 years. Am.ng them.64% were m.le, 95% were m.slim. 98% were m.rried, 65% were com.leted secondary/above higher secondary level education, 65% were unem.loyed and 55% were lived in urban area. It was observed that 65% participants were econom.cally dependent to their fam.ly, only 6% were engaged in regular exercise, 14% had fam.ly history of depression, 8% were sm.ker and 12% were alcohol/drug abuser. According to the Zung Self-Rating Depression Scale (ZSDS) we found 29% participants were m.ldly depressed, 39% participants were m.derately depressed and 18% participants were severely depressed. Prevalence of depression was 86% in pre-dialytic CKD patients. Of them. 7% was in CKD stage-I, 17.4% was in CKD stage-II, 19.8% was in CKD stage-III, 22.1% was in CKD stage-IV and 33.7% was in CKD stage-V. Conclusion: Depression is highly prevalent in pre-dialytic CKD patients and m.re frequent in the advanced stages of CKD.
