In this paper, a passive control method based on a porous material is applied to the surface of a hemispherical cylinder to control a cavitating flow, and the control effect of this method at different cavitation numbers (sigma) is evaluated through the cavity morphology and volume, which is important for the application in engineering. The results indicate that the control effect is improved with a reduction in the cavitation number, for the reduction of vapor volume increases from 22%-50% with sigma decreasing from 0.50-0.20. Further investigation indicates that the cavity inception at different cavitation numbers is still induced by the Kelvin-Helmholtz instability, while the spatial distribution of the vapor changes significantly. Moreover, the porous material suppresses the cavitating flow in the front region but enhances it downstream at large cavitation numbers. When sigma = 0.20, the cavitating flow is controlled in both the front and rear regions.

Three-way spacecraft Doppler tracking is currently widely used and it plays an important role in the control and navigation of deep space missions. Using the theory of three-way Doppler tracking, including possible violations of the local Lorentz invariance （LLI） and the local position invariance （LPI）, we analyze the post-fit residuals of three-way Doppler tracking data of Mars Express. These Doppler observations were carried out from August 7th to 8th in 2009, with an uplink station administered by the European Space Agency at New Norcia in Australia and three downlink stations at Shanghai, Kunming and Urumqi in China. We find that, although these observations impose preliminary bounds on LLI at the level of 10^-2, they are not suitable for testing LPI because of the configuration of these stations and the accuracy of the observations. To our knowledge, this is one of the first attempts in China to apply radio science to the field of fundamental physics.

Ocean vector acoustic measurement is feasible affected by the hydrodynamic interference caused by the flow fluctuations and structural vibrations, especially in the very-low-frequency monitoring. Hence, a novel horizontal floating platform including a horizontal floating cable, vertical mooring cable and floating main body is proposed and described in this paper. It has the advantages of good maneuverability along with the current and multi-stage vibration isolation. The main application of this platform is to measure the ocean ambient noise coming from the wave fluctuation and the deterministic acoustic signals such as aquatic organisms, underwater targets and sailing vehicles. The influence of the current fluctuation on the attitude angle and flow induced vibration of cables and main body are analyzed with some previous sea test data. Moreover, the comparison between the vertical type platform used before and the horizontal type platform is also discussed. It is concluded that there is obvious relevance between the attitude angle and ocean current variation. Meanwhile, the abnormal influence on the main body is caused by the vibration transmission from the fluctuation of cables. There will be the influence on the accuracy of the acoustic measurement above 100 Hz, and the inherent vibration characteristic of the main body is the primary reason.

New physics beyond the standard model of particles might cause a deviation from the inverse-square law of gravity. In some theories, it is parameterized by a power-law correction to the Newtonian gravitational force, which might originate from the simultaneous exchange of particles or modified and extended theories of gravity. Using the supplementary advances of the perihelia provided by INPOP 10a （IMCCE, France） and EPM2011 （IAA RAS, Russia） ephemerides, we obtain preliminary limits on this correction. In our estimation, we take the Lense-Thirring effect due to the Sun＇s angular momentum into account. The parameters of the power-law correction and the uncertainty of the Sun＇s quadrupole moment are simultaneously estimated with the method of minimizing X2. From INPOP10a, we find N - 0.605 for the exponent of the power-law correction. However, from EPM2011, we find that, although it yields N = 3.001, the estimated uncertainty in the Sun＇s quadrupole moment is much larger than the value given by current observations. This might be caused by the intrinsic nonlinearity in the power-law correction, which makes the estimation very sensitive to the supplementary advances of the perihelia.

Characteristics and failure mechanism of an ancient earthquake-induced landslide with an extremely wide distribution area

The Lamuajue landslide is located in Lamuajue village on the tight bank of the Meigu River, Sichuan Province, China. This landslide is an ancient landslide with an extremely wide distribution area, covering an area of 19 km2 with a maximum width of 5-5 km and an estimated residual volume of 3 × 108 ma. The objectives of this study were to identify the characteristics and failure mechanism of this landslide. In this study, based on field investigations, aerial photography, and profile surveys, the boundary, lithology, structure of the strata, and characteristics of the landslide deposits were determined. A gently angled weak interlayer consisting of shale was the main factor contributing to the occurrence of the Lamuajue landslide. The deposition area can be divided into three zones： zone A is an avalanche deposition area mainly composed of blocks, fragments, and debris with diameters ranging from o.i m to 3 m; zone B is a residual integrated rock mass deposition area with large blocks, boulders and ＂fake bedrock＂; and zone C is a deposition zone of limestone blocks and fragments. Three types of failure mechanism were analyzed and combined to explain the Lamuajue landslide based on the features of the accumulation area. First, a shattering-sliding mechanism caused by earthquakes in zone A. Second, a sliding mechanism along the weak intercalation caused by gravity and water in zone B. Third, a shattering-ejection mechanism generated by earthquakes in zone C. The results provide a distinctive case for the study of gigantic landslides induced by earthquakes, which is very important for understanding and assessing ancient earthquakeinduced landslides.

Direct sequence spread spectrum transmission can be realized at low SNR, and has low probabilityof detection. It is aly problem how to obtain the original users＇ signal in a non-cooperative context. In practicality, the DS/CDMA sources received are linear convolute mixing. A more complex multichannel blind deconvolution MBD algorithm is required to achieve better source separation. An improved MBD algorithm for separating linear convolved mixtures of signals in CDMA system is proposed. This algorithm is based on minimizing the average squared cross-output-channel-correlation. The mixture coefficients are totally unknown, while some knowledge about temporal model exists. Results show that the proposed algorithm can bring about the exactness and low computational complexity.

This study proposes a ladder gradient method for neutron and gamma-ray *** proposed method exhibited state-of-the-art performance with low time consumption,which incorporates two parts:information extraction and discrimination factor calculation.A quasi-continuous spiking cortical model was proposed to extract information from the radiation pulse signals,thus generating an ignition map corresponding to each pulse *** ignition map can be used to calculate the discrimination factor.A ladder gradient calculation was introduced to obtain a discrimination factor with low computational *** proposed method was compared with five other discrimination methods to evaluate its robustness and ***,the filter adaptability of the pulse-coupled neural network and ladder gradient methods was *** reasons for adapting the conditions with different discrimination methods and filters were *** were conducted in 20 filtering situations with 11 types of filters to determine the most suitable filters for discrimination *** experimental results revealed that the three most adaptive filters of the pulse-coupled neural networks and ladder gradient methods are the wavelet,elliptic,and median filters and the elliptic,moving average,and wavelet filters,respectively.
