Comparative Study of 3D-Printed Porous Titanium Alloy with Rod Designs of Three Different Geometric Structures for Orthopaedic Implantation

Porous titanium alloy is currently widely used in clinical treatment of orthopaedic diseases for its lower elastic modulus and ability to integrate with bone *** the micro-level,cells can respond to different geometries,and at the macro-level,the geometric design of implants will also affect the biological function of *** this study,three kinds of porous scaffolds with square,triangular and circle rod shapes were designed and 3D *** study observed the proliferation and differentiation of MC3T3-E1 cells during surface culture of the three types of *** also evaluated the characteristics of the three scaffolds by means of compression tests and scanning electron microscopy to provide a reference for the design of porous titanium alloy implants for clinical *** trends of cell proliferation and gene expression between the three types of scaffolds were observed after treatment with two *** results show that the square rod porous scaffolds have the best proliferative and osteogenic activities,and these findings may be due to differences in piezo-type mechanosensitive ion channel component 1(Piezo1)and Yes-associated protein(YAP)expression caused by the macro-geometric topography.

Deep-sea mining activities can potentially release metals,which pose a toxicological threat to deep-sea ***,due to the remoteness and inaccessibility of the deep-sea biosphere,there is insufficient knowledge about the impact of metal exposure on its *** this study,deep-sea mussel Gigantidas platifrons,a commonly used deep-sea toxicology model organism,was exposed to manganese(100,1000μg/L)or iron(500,5000μg/L)for 7 d,*** and iron were chosen for their high levels of occurrence within deep-sea *** accumulation and a battery of biochemical biomarkers related to antioxidative stress in superoxide dismutase(SOD),catalase(CAT),malondialdehyde(MDA);immune function in alkaline phosphatase(AKP),acid phosphatase(ACP);and energy metabolism in pyruvate kinase(PK)and hexokinase(HK)were assessed in mussel *** showed that deep-sea mussel *** exhibited a high capacity to accumulate Mn/*** addition,most tested biochemical parameters were altered by metal exposure,demonstrating that metals could induce oxidative stress,suppress the immune system,and affect energy metabolism of deep-sea *** integrated biomarker response(IBR)approach indicated that the exposure to Mn/Fe had a negative impact on deep-sea mussels,and Mn demonstrated a more harmful impact on deep-sea mussels than ***,SOD and CAT biomarkers had the greatest impact on IBR values in Mn treatments,while ACP and HK were most influential for the low-and high-dose Fe groups,*** study represents the first application of the IBR approach to evaluate the toxicity of metals on deep-sea fauna and serves as a crucial framework for risk assessment of deep-sea mining-associated metal exposure.

Alleviative effects of Bacillus coagulans strains on irritable bowel syndrome-unraveling strain specificity through physiological and genomic analysis

The high intraspecies heterogeneity of Baciillus coagulans leads to significant phenotypic differences among different ***,6 *** strains were tested in the present study using an irritable bowel syndrome(IBS)animal model to determine whether the IBS-alleviating effects of *** strains are *** results of this study showed that the ingestion of *** GBI-30,6086,and *** CCFM1041 significantly alleviated IBS symptoms in *** contrast,other *** strains showed no or limited alleviating effects on IBS *** to our experimental results,the two main common features of these strains were as follows:1)The resistance of vegetative cells to bile salts,and 2)ability to synthesize specific lipids and secondary *** strains based on these two indicators may greatly reduce costs and provide a basis for mining new functional *** *** results also suggest that administration of *** could significantly regulate microbiota dysbiosis in animal ***,the close relationships between the gut microbiota,gut microbiota metabolites,and IBS were further confirmed in this study.

The thermal evolution of the Earth’s interior and its dynamic effects are the focus of Earth ***,the commonly adopted grid-based temperature solver is usually prone to numerical oscillations,especially in the presence of sharp thermal gradients,such as when modeling subducting slabs and rising *** phenomenon prohibits the correct representation of thermal evolution and may cause incorrect implications of geodynamic *** examining several approaches for removing these numerical oscillations,we show that the Lagrangian method provides an ideal way to solve this *** this study,we propose a particle-in-cell method as a strategy for improving the solution to the energy equation and demonstrate its effectiveness in both one-dimensional and three-dimensional thermal problems,as well as in a global spherical simulation with data *** have implemented this method in the open-source finite-element code CitcomS,which features a spherical coordinate system,distributed memory parallel computing,and data assimilation algorithms.

Petroleum pitch derived hard carbon via NaCl-template as anode materials with high rate performance for sodium ion battery

Sodium-ion batteries(SIBs)have garnered significant interest in energy storage due to their similar working mechanism to lithium ion batteries and abundant reserves of sodium *** facile synthesis of a carbon-based anode materials with capable electrochemical performance is key to promoting the practical application of *** this work,a combination of petroleum pitch and recyclable sodium chloride is selected as the carbon source and template to obtain hard carbon(HC)anode for *** times and temperatures are optimized by assessing the sodium ion storage behavior of different HC *** optimized HC exhibits a remarkable capacity of over 430 mAh·g^(-1) after undergoing full activation through 500 cycles at a density of current of 0.1 A·g^(-1).Furthermore,it demonstrates an initial discharge capacity of 276 mAh·g^(-1) at a density of current of 0.5 A·g^(-1).Meanwhile,the optimized HC shows a good capacity retention(170 mAh·g^(-1) after 750 cycles)and a remarkable rate ability(166 mAh·g^(-1) at 2 A·g^(-1)).The enhanced capacity is attributed to the suitable degree of graphitization and surface area,which improve the sodium ion transport and storage.

Polymerizing the narrow bandgap small-molecule architecture with a conjugated linking unit(or called the polymerized small molecule acceptors(PSMAs))is a promising strategy to design polymer acceptors for efficient all polymer solar cells(all-PSCs).Currently,the fused-ring-based small molecule acceptors(SMAs)are preferred monomers to design efficient PSMAs,leaving the challenge of reducing the materials *** this work,we firstly employ nonfused-core SMA with simple synthetic procedures to design PSMAs(namely PBTI-H,PBTI-F and PBTI-Cl)to address this *** to the fused-ring based counterparts,these three PSMAs exhibit much higher figure-of-merit ***,a power-conversion efficiency of 8.80%is achieved in the PBTI-Cl-based *** results offer an attractive approach to design low-cost PSMAs for efficient all-PSCs.

Enhancing hydrogen evolution and oxidation kinetics through oxygen insertion into nickel lattice

Nickel-based materials,including metallic Ni and Ni oxide,have been widely studied in the exploration of non-precious-metal hydrogen electrocatalysts,but neither pure Ni nor NiO is ideal for the hydrogen evolution reaction(HER)and hydrogen oxidation reaction(HOR).In this paper,an oxygen insertion strategy was applied on nickel to regulate its hydrogen electrocatalytic performance,and the oxygen-inserted nickel catalyst was successfully obtained with the assistance of tungsten dioxide support(denoted as O-Ni/WO_(2)).The partial insertion of oxygen in Ni maintains the face-centered cubic arrangement of Ni atoms,simultaneously expanding the lattice and increasing the lattice ***,the adsorption strength of^(*)H and^(*)OH on Ni is optimized,thus resulting in superior electrocatalytic performance of0-Ni/WO_(2)in alkaline HER/*** Tafel slope of O-Ni/WO_(2)@NF for HER is 56 mV dec^(-1),and the kinetic current density of O-Ni/WO_(2)for HOR reaches 4.85 mA cm^(-2),which is ahead of most currently reported *** proposed strategy of inserting an appropriate amount of anions into the metal lattice could provide more possibilities for the design of high-performance catalysts.
