Modeling and Performance simulation of an Innovative Concept of Linear Fresnel Reflector based CsP system

Concentrating solar power technology is one of the most promising alternative energy *** recent past,Linear Fresnel Reflector systems have received great attention and novel designs have been proposed keeping in view the objective to enhance its functionality and *** achieving the same objective,this study presents a novel concept where a conventional LFR is enclosed in a greenhouse called *** was expected that such an enclosure can:(1)increase the incoming solar radiation,(2)further improve the overall efficiency due to simplified cleaning process and(3)reduce the capital cost for the construction of LFR support system.A complete thermal and optical analysis was presented for modeling and performance evaluation of the solar field of both conventional-LFR and novel *** of non-linear equations for each system were solved using Newton-Raphson *** detailed optical analysis was further performed for conventional-LFR considering the seasonal *** results concluded that the greenhouse-LFR is better than the conventional-LFR as it had higher efficiency and useful heat with lesser heat *** greenhouse-LFR,the maximum thermal efficiency was 73.2%whereas for conventional-LFR it was 37.2%.Also,there was an average increase of useful heat by 3 times in the month of February and 4.7 times in the month of ***^(TM) analysis indicated significant spillage loss when a conventional-LFR was used without a secondary reflector or slight curvature of the mirrors.

Temporal variations of mesozooplankton abundance and biomass in the mangrove creek area along the Karachi coast, Pakistan

The temporal variations of mesozooplankton abundance and biomass （1-Volumetric method by settling volume and displacement volume and 2- Gravimetric method through wet weight, dry weight and ash-free dry weight） with relation to environmental parameters were studied in the mangrove creek area of Karachi coast, Pakistan. The data of mesozooplankton samples along with environmental parameters （temperature, salinity, pH, etc.） were collected during January 1998 to December 1998 from two creek stations. The abun-dance of mesozooplankton also exhibited seasonal trends at both stations. At sta. s2, the highest and low-est abundance values were observed during post-monsoon and southwest monsoon respectively whereas, at sta. s1, a clear trend of high abundance in pre-monsoon to low abundance in southwest monsoon was observed. Mesozooplankton abundance was also positively correlated with settling volume, displacement volume, wet weight and dry weight. The highest biomass value was observed in the northeast monsoon and pre-monsoon periods. The results of the canonical analysis of the output from the discriminate function was tested. Out of fifteen variables, only one was significantly different in single character ratios dry weight/ash free-dry weight （F3,23=4.78,P＆lt;0.005）. The mesozooplankton community was collectively composed of 28 taxa. Among these groups, copepoda （66.3%）, gastropod larvae （9.94%）, evadne （4.60%）, zoea （3.60%）, cypris nauplii （2.56%）, lemellibranch larvae （1.87%）, chaetognaths （1.81%）, ostracods （1.73%）, lucifer （1.15%） and barnacles nauplii （1.35%） contributed the most to the similarities within sta. s1, while copepoda （74.68%）, cypris nauplii （5.29%）, gastropods （4.87%）, barnacles nauplii （4.81%）, evadne （1.72%）, zoea （1.53%） and ca-ridean larvae （1.18%） at sta. s2. Activity and stability of Rare Earth-Based Hydride Alloys as Catalysts of Hydrogen Absorption-Oxidation Reactions

Rare earth-based AB(5)-type hydrogen storage alloys as catalysts of hydrogen-diffusion electrodes for hydrogen absorption and oxidation reactions in alkaline fuel cells were investigated. It is demonstrated that the metahydride hydrogen-diffusion electrodes could be charged by hydrogen gas and electrochemically discharged, at the same time to retain a stable oxidation potential for a long period. The catalytic activities and stability are almost comparable with a Pt catalyst on the active carbon. Further improvement of performances is expected via reduction of catalyst size into nanometers.

Chikungunya virus(CHIKV),transmitted by arthropods,has gained global recognition for its impact on public *** has expanded globally,including Africa,Asia,and the Indian subcontinent,and has a helicase protein in its genome that is crucial for its ***,the study targeted the helicase protein of CHIKV with 745 antiviral compounds using an ML-based QsAR model and molecular *** binders(5279172,78161839,6474310,and 5330286)were selected for MD simulation based on the control(silvestrol).All compounds had the highest binding scores,with 78161839 showing the most consistent RMsD and the least conformational variation,indicating high *** also showed the lowest binding free energy(ΔG¼31.31 kcal/mol),indicating energetically favourable *** and FEL also depicted the stable complex confirmation of the protein and 78161839 complex during the 100 ns ***,this study aimed to identify helicase function antiviral binders that could be experimentally tested for treating CHIKV.

Preparation and characterization of new sealing glasses based on Li_(2)O-NiO-P_(2)O_(5) system

A series of glass are synthesized via a melt quenching technique based on the Li_(2)O-Ni O-P_(2)O_(5) *** concentration of nickel oxide varies from 5%to 15%in molar *** pattern verifies the amorphous nature of prepared glass samples with 5%,and 10%nickel oxide in molar *** Li_(3)P and Ni_(2)P_(4)O_(12)phases are precipitated with a high nickel content up to 15%in molar *** nickel is substituted for lithium,a systematic increase in glass transition temperature(T_(g))and glass softening temperatures(T_(s))is *** is greatly related to the increased structure,coherence in the glass *** investigation showed that Ni_(2+) spectra are present in both octahedral and tetrahedral *** properties such as glass density((2.38±0.1)-(2.46±0.1)g/cm^(3)),and molar volume((42.28±0.1)-(39.15±0.1)cm^(3)/mol)are *** NiO/Li_(2)O replacements led to a decrease in the dissolution rate of the resultant amorphous materials from 1.53×10^(-5)to 3.20×10^(-6)g/(cm^(2)·min).Thermal expansion coefficients CTE of the glasses are diverse from 157×10^(-7) to 96×10^(-7)℃^(-1) over the temperature range of 25-250℃.The prepared glasses are expected to be useful as a low-temperature sealing material.

Interferometric orbit determination for geostationary satellites

Future Geo sAR missions are expected to provide higher resolution radar images featuring shorter revisit times by locating a radar payload on-board of a geostationary satellite. One of the main challenges in Geo sAR processing is accurately determining the satellite orbit to obtain a precise phase history, in order to properly focus the retrieved data. To tackle this challenge, a multiple baseline ground-based interferometer is proposed as a compact and reliable method to achieve an unprecedented accuracy. As a proof of concept, this paper presents the results obtained from a single baseline prototype, whose results can be extrapolated to a larger system, able to be used in future missions.

Nondestructive evaluation of mechanical properties of nanostructured Al-Cu alloy at room and elevated temperatures

The influence of processing variables on the mechanical properties of a nanostructured Al-10 wt.%Cu alloy was ***-strain microprobe®system(ssM)and its automated ball indentation®(ABI®)test were used for evaluating the mechanical properties of this *** tests were conducted at 21℃ on the bulk samples that were mechanically alloyed for 6 h at two ball-to-powder mass ratios(BPR)of 30:1 and 90:***,the tests were conducted at 200 and 400℃ on the samples that were processed at BPR of 90:*** BPR resulted in raising the final indentation load from(316±26)to(631±9)N and reducing the final indentation depth from 111 to 103μ*** the samples that were processed at BPR of 90:1,increasing the test temperature from 21 to 400℃ resulted in decreasing the final load from(631±9)to(125±1)N and increasing the final depth from 103 to(116±1)μ*** sample processed at BPR of 90:1 and tested at 21℃ revealed the highest strength and the least deformability while the sample processed at BPR of 90:1 and tested at 400℃ exhibited the lowest strength and the greatest deformability,as compared to all samples under study.

Role of nickel alloying on anodic dissolution behavior of zinc in 3.5% NaCl *** II:Potentiodynamic,potentiostatic and galvanostatic studies

Zinc is common metal used for steel protection from *** addition of further element,such as Ni,can modify the corrosion rate and maintain sacrificial *** anodic dissolution behavior of Zn,Ni and Zn-Ni alloys with different Ni contents（from 0.5% to 10%,mass fraction） in 3.5% Na Cl solution was investigated using potentiodynamic,potentiostatic and galvanostatic *** composition and microstructure of the corrosion layer on Zn,Ni and Zn-Ni alloys were characterized by energy-dispersive X-ray spectroscopy analysis（EDX） and scanning electron microscopy（sEM）.The galvanostatic curves show that the anodic behavior of all investigated electrodes exhibits active/passive transition and the tendency of the alloys to passivity decreases with the increase in Ni content,except for 99.5Zn-0.5Ni *** the potentiodynamic curves exhibit active passive transition only for pure *** analysis reveals the presence of oxides,chlorides and metal hydroxide chloride in corrosion products,and very small cracks are observed for 90Zn-10 Ni alloy compared with that of Zn.
