Objective:meningiomas are neoplasms that arise from the meninges of the central nervous system(CNS).They constitute about25.6%of CNS tumors diagnosed in *** morphological variants of meningiomas display aggressive behavior,leading to brain-invasive growth *** meningiomas are usually treated by complete surgical excision,the risk of postoperative recurrence ***,additional biomarkers for predicting aggressive behavior must be *** study aims to explore the clinical and biological relevance of the protein expression levels ofβ-catenin and galectine-3 in meningioma and to understand the pathobiology of this ***:This retrospective study was carried out on 153 cases of meningioma by using tissue microarrays and immunohistochemistry forβ-catenin and ***:Highβ-catenin expression was significantly associated with transitional and meningiotheliomatous meningiomas,low tumor grade,low recurrence rate,and low incidence of brain ***,high galectin-3 expression was associated with brain invasion,recurrence,high tumor grade,and tumor *** regression analysis indicated that among all variables included in the model,β-catenin and galactin-3 expression levels were significant predictors of tumor recurrence(Pmeningioma recurrence but not in brain *** molecules could be important potential therapeutic targets and predictors for meningiomas.

The increasing use of fossil fuels has a significant impact on the environment and ecosystem,which increases the rate of *** the high potential of renewable energy sources in Yemen and other Arabic countries,and the absence of similar studies in the *** study aims to examine the potential of wind energy in mokha *** was done by analyzing and evaluating wind properties,determining available energy density,calculating wind energy extracted at different altitudes,and then computing the capacity factor for a few wind turbines and determining the *** speed was verified as the closest to the average actual wind speed using the cube root,as this was verified using 3 criteria for performance analysis methods(R^(2)=0.9984,RmSE=0.0632,COE=1.028).The wind rose scheme was used to determine the appropriate direction for directing the wind turbines,the southerly direction was appropriate,as the winds blow from this direction for 227 days per year,and the average southerly wind velocity is 5.27 m/s at an altitude of 3 *** turbine selected in this study has a tower height of 100m and a rated power of 3.45 *** capacitance factor was calculated for the three classes of wind turbines classified by the International electrotechnical Commission(IEC)and compared,and the turbine of the first class was approved,and it is suitable for the study site,as it resists storms more than *** daily and annual capacity of a single,first-class turbine has been assessed to meet the needs of 1,447 housing units in mokha *** amount of energy that could be supplied to each dwelling was around 19 kWh per day,which was adequate to power the basic loads in the home.

Timed Intercourse versus Intrauterine Insemination with mild Ovarian Stimulation for Unexplained Infertility

Background: Infertility is unexplained in about 22% - 28% of infertile couples. Spontaneous pregnancy may occur in them. If did not happen, Expectant management will be via clomiphene citrate (CC) administration, intrauterine insemination (IUI), and IVF & ICSI. Aim: to assess the effectiveness of intrauterine insemination with mild controlled ovarian stimulation compared with expectant management in couples with unexplained infertility more than one year. methods: 160 couples with unexplained infertility were selected, The couples were randomly divided into two groups: Group (A) “80 couples”: Intrauterine insemination (IUI) with mild controlled ovarian stimulation (combination of CC + hmG) using prepared semen and was performed 36 hours after hCG injection, Group (B) “80 couples”: Couples had no ovulation induction. They encouraged for timed intercourse in the most fertile days of female cycle guided by folliculometry for 6 months. Data were collected quantitatively, coded and analyzed using SPSS. The power of study is 80% and 95% confidence interval. Result: The pregnancy rate was calculated in both groups: In group (A) (IUI/COS): OPR (Ongoing pregnancy rates) was 27.5% and PR (pregnancy rates)/cycle was 8.6%. In group (B) (Expectant management): OPR was 25% and PR/cycle was 5.3%. Conclusion: mild controlled ovarian stimulation CC + hmG with IUI offers no statistical significance in terms of pregnancy outcomes over expectant management in this study however significance in the response to stimulation.

In the attempt to reduce surface free energy of silica to improve interaction of silica with silver, silica was doped by different amounts of low surface energy lanthanum, La_2O_3, through impregnation. The doped and undoped silica were used as supports for preparation of Na/Ag/mo/La_2O_3-SiO_2 catalysts. Catalytic performances of the catalysts were evaluated in direct epoxidation of propylene(DPO) using molecular oxygen under atmospheric pressure and without adding hydrogen. Adding 5 wt%La to the Na/Ag/mo/SiO_2 catalyst improves both the catalysts electivity in DPO and its stability over 20h of *** characterization results show that La_2O_3 species interact strongly with silver particles on the silica surface which result in significant improvement in the dispersion profile of silver and marked decrease in the size of silver nanoparticles(AgNPs). The estimated mean diameter of AgNPs is ca. 4.0 nm in Na/Ag/mo/5 wt%La_2O_3-SiO_2, which is smaller than that(53.9 nm) found in Na/Ag/SiO_2. The presence of subnanometer AgNPs on Ag/La_2O_3-SiO_2 prior addition of moO_3 and NaCl to the sample can enhance the mutual electronic synergism between Ag, moO_3 and Na for selective production of propylene oxide.

Bacterial infections post-living-donor liver transplantation in Egyptian hepatitis C virus-cirrhotic patients: A singlecenter study

AIm To determine risk factors, causative organisms and antimicrobial resistance of bacterial infections following living-donor liver transplantation(LDLT) in cirrhotic *** This prospective study included 45 patients with hepatitis C virus-related end-stage liver disease who underwent LDLT at Ain Shams Center for Organ Transplant, Cairo, Egypt from January 2014 to November 2015. Patients were followed-up for the first 3 mo after LDLT for detection of bacterial infections. All patients were examined for the possible risk factors suggestive of acquiring infection pre-, intra-and post-operatively. Positive cultures based on clinical suspicion and patterns of antimicrobial resistance were identified. RESULTS Thirty-three patients(73.3%) suffered from bacterial infections; 21 of them had a single infection episode, and 12 had repeated infection episodes. Bile was the most common site for both single and repeated episodes of infection(28.6% and 27.8%, respectively). The most common isolated organisms were gramnegative bacteria. Acinetobacter baumannii was the most common organism isolated from both single and repeated infection episodes(19% and 33.3%, respectively), followed by Escherichia coli for repeated infections(11.1%), and Pseudomonas aeruginosa for single infections(19%). Levofloxacin showed high sensitivity against repeated infection episodes(P = 0.03). Klebsiella, Acinetobacter and Pseudomonas were multi-drug resistant(mDR). Pre-transplant hepatocellular carcinoma(HCC) and duration of drain insertion(in days) were independent risk factors for the occurrence of repeated infection episodes(P = 0.024).CONCLUSION mDR gram-negative bacterial infections are common post-LDLT. Pre-transplant HCC and duration of drain insertion were independent risk factors for the occurrence of repeated infection episodes.

Doppler Study of Uterine Artery and Ultrasonography of Endometrial Thickness in Perimenopausal and Postmenopausal Bleeding

Background: Transvaginal color Doppler sonography of the uterine artery has been reported useful for evaluation of abnormal uterine bleeding in peri-/post-menopausal women. It may differentiate physiological from malignant endometrial changes. Objective: Evaluating the endometrial thickness and uterine artery Doppler as an initial diagnostic tool to identify patients with abnormal endometrial pathology. methods: This is a prospective case control study consisted of total 50 women with peri-(n = 35) and post-(n = 15) menopausal bleeding, with 20 women consisting control group (no bleeding) (peri-(n = 10) and post-menopausal (n = 10)). Double layer endometrial thickness and uterine-artery-Doppler waveforms were measured, with the latter being S/D ratio, RI and PI. These were related to histological findings (endometrial biopsy). Result: Patients with abnormal uterine bleeding (both peri- and postmenopausal) had a significantly higher mean endometrial thickness than the control women. Study group showed a significantly lower value of all Doppler indices (S/D ratio, RI and PI). In study group, patients with malignant endometrial pathology showed significantly thicker endometrium and significantly lower Doppler indices than those with benign pathology. Conclusion: The combination of endometrial thickness and uterine artery color Doppler pattern might predict uterine endometrial malignancy, although whether it can discriminate (screen) patients requiring endometrial biopsy is not evident. Further study is needed.

Squamous cell carcinoma metastatic to cervical lymph nodes from unknown primary origin:the impact of chemoradiotherapy

The management of cervical lymph node metastases of squamous cell carcinoma from an unknown primary site is still a therapeutic *** report here our experience in treating these patients with chemoradiotherapy as a curative *** from 40 patients were *** total,20(50%) patients underwent excisional *** patients underwent radiotherapy,which was delivered to both sides of the neck and pharyngeal mucosa(extensive field),and concurrent chemotherapy consisting of weekly cisplatin at a dose of 40 mg/*** clinical stage of the cervical nodes at presentation was N1 in 25%,N2 in 60%,and N3 in 15%.most patients(75%) developed at least grade 3 *** patients(20%) had grade 3 xerostomia and 18 patients(45%) required esophageal dilation for *** 5-year overall survival(OS) rate of all patients was 67.5%.The 5-year OS rates of patients with N1,N2,and N3 lesions were 100%,67%,and 41%,respectively(P = 0.046).The 5-year progression-free survival rate was 62.5%.In multivariate analysis,only N stage significantly affected OS(P = 0.022).Emergence of the occult primary was very limited(1 patient only).Our results suggest that extensive irradiation of both sides of the neck and pharyngeal mucosa with concurrent chemotherapy results in a lower emergence of primary *** the survival of patients with unknown primary is comparable to that of patients with known primary,an attempt at cure should always be made.

mud wasps are one of the most important problems that many archaeological sites suffer from in Egypt, especially in southern Egypt. Wasp’s growth increases, especially on the surface of stones or on mud-brick buildings, which represents a major challenge to these archaeological sites. It works to hide the stone surfaces and archaeological inscriptions found on them in addition to that it works to damage the stone surfaces themselves through the nests that they build on these surfaces. It works on weakening the structure of sandstone and the study that included a study on mud wasps and Analysis of nests and studied through the use of various devices and methods, the damage and its nature have also been studied as a result of the presence of wasp nests and the reasons for their existence. Various treatment methods and the best appropriate methods for treating sandstone and stopping wasp activity have also been studied.
