A hydrogen compressed air energy storage power plant with an integrated electrolyzer is ideal for large-scale,long-term energy storage because of the emission-free operation and the possibility to offer multiple ancillary services on the German energy *** paper defines analyzes such a storage concept and conducts an extensive comparison with four additional storage concepts based on various *** results show that the combination of storing compressed air and hydrogen offers a higher efficiency than storing only hydrogen and lower specific investment costs than storing only compressed *** result is confirmed with analysis of the optimal sizing of each power plant component for simultaneous participation on multiple energy markets with a linear optimization dispatch *** hydrogen compressed air energy storage(HCAES)power plant can utilize more revenue possibilities than a hydrogen energy storage because of the higher round-trip efficiency and the combination of the air compressor and the integrated electrolyzer during charging *** integration of the electrolyzer,however,offers a couple of challenges itself because of the highly flexible operation mode.A new concept for the controllable 24-pulse diode-thyristor rectifier of the electrolyzer is presented,that uses mostly common components while offering little to no grid harmonics and a long *** flexible integrated electrolyzer allows for the 4-quadrant operation of the storage power plant.

AIM:To evaluate the use of three-dimensional imaging of pancreatic carcinoma using multidetector computed tomography(CT)in a prospective ***:Ten patients with suspected pancreatic tumors were examined prospectively using multidetec-tor CT(Somatom Sensation 16,Siemens,Erlangen,Germany).The images were evaluated for the pres-ence of a pancreatic carcinoma and invasion of the peripancreatic vessels and surrounding *** the isotropic CT data sets,a three-dimensional image was created with automatic vascular analysis and semi-automatic segmentation of the organs and pancreatic tumor by a *** CT examinations and the three-dimensional images were presented to the sur-geon directly before and during the patient's operation using the Medical Imaging Interaction Toolkit-based software "ReLiver".Immediately after surgery,the value of the two images was judged by the *** operation and the histological results served as the gold ***:Nine patients had a pancreatic carcinoma(all pT3),and one patient had a serous *** tumor inf iltrated the superior mesenteric *** inf iltration was correctly *** carcinomas were *** comparison to the CT image with axial and coronal reconstructions,the three-dimensional image was judged by the surgeons as better for operation planning and consistently described as ***:A 3D-image of the pancreas repre-sents an invaluable aid to the ***,the 3D-software must be further developed in order to be integrated into daily clinical routine.

Experimental constraints on the genesis of Jadeite quartzite from Shuanghe,Dabie Mountain ultra-high pressure metamorphic terrane

Jadeite quartzite, essentially a two-phase rock made up of jadeite and quartz, is one of the most important UHP lithologies occur- ring in the Dabie Mountain ultrahigh pressure metamorphic belt and forms layers in biotite-plagioclase gneiss. High pressure- high temperature studies on natural albite from the country rock gneiss were undertaken to reveal the--in parts----complex mineralogical changes that occur in the jadeite quartzite during prograde metamorphism. Experiments were conducted at 800- 1200~C, in the pressure range of 2.0-3.5 GPa. One of the most intriguing results shows that the low pressure boundary of the jadeite＋coesite stability field is located between about 3.2 GPa at 1000~C and 3.4 GPa at 1200~C, thus about （0.2-0.3）_＋0.1 GPa higher than the quartz-coesite transition curve, given the uncertainty in the present study. Minor amounts of sodium and aluminum entering the structure of quartz and the intimate intergrowth texture of the run products may contribute to the ob- served pressure shift. Combined petrological and mineralogical studies on the run products and the natural rocks yield the fol- lowing prograde reaction sequence to have occurred： The protolith of the jadeite- quartzite from Dabie Mountain is an albitized siltstone/greywacke characterized by an albite＋quartz assemblage. During prograde metamorphism albite breaks down to form jadeite＋quartz and thus at this stage two types of quartz can be distinguished whereas type-I-quartz already existed in the pro- tolith, type-II-quartz represents a newly formed reaction product of albite. During further P-T-increase the pure type- I-quartz was transformed to coesite, whereas type-II-quartz （together with jadeite） was still present as a stable phase because of its im- purities of Na and A1. At a later stage during further subduction, type-II-quartz also decomposes to form coesite. Continental deep subduction after the closure of large oceanic basins is commonly ascribed to the gravitational pull of the subducting oceanic ***,it is not clear how continental lithosphere adjacent to small oceanic basins was subducted to mantle *** Sesia Zone in the Western Alps provides an excellent target for exploration of subduction dynamics in such a tectonic *** we report the first finding of coesite in a jadeite-bearing orthogneiss from the Sesia Zone,providing the first evidence for deep subduction of the continental crust to mantle depths for ultrahigh-pressure(UHP)metamorphism in this *** coesite inclusions were identified by laser Raman spectroscopy in two garnet *** on zircon U-Pb dating and trace element analysis, the UHP metamorphic age was constrained to be 76.0 ±1.0 *** phase equilibrium modeling yields peak metamorphic pressures of2.8-3.3 GPa,demonstrating the continental deep subduction to mantle depths of>80 *** subducted continental crust was a rifted hyperextended continental margin,which was converted to the passive continental margin during seafloor spreading and then deeply subducted during the oblique convergence between the Adria microplate and Eurasian plate in the Late *** the slab pull could only play a limited role in closing small oceanic basins for continental collision,the distal push of either continental breakup or seafloor spreading is suggested as the major driving force for the deep subduction of continental crust in the Western ***,deep subduction of the continental crust bordering small oceanic basins would have been induced by the far-field stress of compression,whereas that bordering large oceanic basins was spontaneous due to the oceanic slab *** provides a new insight into the geodynamic me chanism of continental deep subduction.

The fabrication of bit-patterned media （BPM） is crucial for new types of hard disk drives. The development of methods for the production of BPM is progressing rapidly. Conventional lithography reaches the limit regarding lateral resolution, and new routes are needed. In this study, we mainly focus on the dependence of the size and shape of magnetic nanodots on the Ar＋-ion etching duration, using silica dots as masks. Two-dimensional （2D） arrays of magnetic nanostructures are created using silica-filled diblock-copolymer micelles as templates. After the self-assembly of the micelles into 2D hexagonal arrays, the polymer shell is removed, and the SiO2 cores are utilized to transform the morphology into a （Co/Pt）2-multilayer via ion etching under normal incidence. The number of preparation steps is kept as low as possible to simplify the formation of the nanostructure arrays. High-resolution in situ grazing-incidence small-angle X-ray scattering （GISAXS） investigations are performed during the Ar＋-ion etching to monitor and control the fabrication process. The in situ investigation provides information on how the etching conditions can be improved for further ex situ experiments. The GISAXS patterns are compared with simulations. We observe that the dots change in shape from cylindrical to conical during the etching process. The magnetic behavior is studied by utilizing the magneto-optic Kerr effect. The Co/Pt dots exhibit different magnetic behaviors depending on their size, interparticle distance, and etching time. They show ferromagnetism with an easy axis of magnetization perpendicular to the film. A systematic dependence of the coercivitv on the dot size is observed.

Methods related to experimental human pain research aim at activating different nociceptors, evoke pain from different organs and activate specific pathways and mechanisms. The different possibilities for using mechanical, electrical, thermal and chemical methods in visceral pain research are discussed with emphasis of combinations (e.g., the multimodal approach). The methods have been used widely in assessment of pain mechanisms in the esophagus and have contributed to our understanding of the symptoms reported in these patients. Hence abnormal activation and plastic changes of central pain pathways seem to play a major role in the symptoms in some patients with gastro-esophageal reflux disease and in patients with functional chest pain of esophageal origin. These findings may lead to an alternative approach for treatment in patients that does not respond to conventional medical or surgical therapy.
