Background and purpose Depression is common after stroke and is often treated with antidepressant medications(AD).ADs have also been hypothesised to improve stroke recovery,although recent randomised trials were *** investigated the patterns of in-hospital AD initiation after ischaemic stroke and association with clinical and readmission *** All Medicare fee-for-service beneficiaries aged 65 or older hospitalised for ischaemic stroke in participating Get With The Guidelines-stroke hospitals between April and December 2014 were eligible for this *** measures included days alive and not in a healthcare institution(home time),all-cause mortality and readmission within 1-year *** score(Ps)-adjusted logistic regression models were used to evaluate the associations between AD use and each outcome *** also compared outcomes in patients prescribed selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors(ssRIs)AD versus those prescribed non-ssRI *** Of 21805 AD naive patients included in this analysis,1835(8.4%)were started on an AD at *** started on an AD had higher rates of depression and prior ischaemic stroke,presented with higher admission National Institutes of health stroke scale score and were less likely to be discharged ***,patients started on an ssRI had lower rates of discharge to *** for stroke severity,patients started on an AD had worse all-cause mortality,all-cause readmission,major adverse cardiac events,readmission for depression and decreased ***,AD use was also associated with an increased risk for the sepsis,a falsification endpoint,suggesting the presence of residual *** Patients with ischaemic stroke initiated on AD therapy are at increased risk of poor clinical outcomes and readmission even after Ps adjustment,suggesting that poststroke depression requiring medication is a poor prognostic *** research is needed to explore

Objective:The present study evaluates the concurrent and predictive validity of the seguin Form Board Test(sFBT)as an intelligence tool for children in low-and middle-income ***:In a cohort of normal children,followed up in south India,two cross-sectional analyses were done at 3 and 7 years of age on 95 *** sFBT and Vineland social Matu-rity scale(VsMs)were done at 3 years of age and Malin’s Intelligence scale for Indian Children(MIsIC)and the VsMs were done at 7 years of age,and the results were compared for concurrent and predictive validity for the ***:Intelligence quotient and social quotient had positive correlations at 3 years of age,indicating fair concurrent *** sFBT done at around 3 years of age had good positive cor-relation with MIsIC at 7 years of age,indicating good predictive ***:This study shows the utility of the sFBT as a community-based intelligence tool with acceptable concurrent and predictive validity.

Consequences of bullying victimization in childhood and adolescence:A systematic review and meta-analysis

AIM To identify health and psychosocial problems associated with bullying victimization and conduct a meta-analysis summarizing the causal *** A systematic review was conducted using Pub Med, EMBAsE, ERIC and Psyc INFO electronic databases up to 28 February 2015. The study included published longitudinal and cross-sectional articles that examined health and psychosocial consequences of bullying victimization. All meta-analyses were based on qualityeffects models. Evidence for causality was assessed using Bradford Hill criteria and the grading system developed by the World Cancer Research *** Out of 317 articles assessed for eligibility, 165 satisfied the predetermined inclusion criteria for *** significant associations were observed between bullying victimization and a wide range of adverse health and psychosocial problems. The evidence was strongest for causal associations between bullying victimization and mental health problems such as depression, anxiety, poor general health and suicidal ideation and behaviours. Probable causal associations existed between bullying victimization and tobacco and illicit drug use. CONClUsION strong evidence exists for a causal relationship between bullying victimization, mental health problems and substance use. Evidence also exists for associations between bullying victimization and other adverse health and psychosocial problems, however, there is insufficient evidence to conclude causality. The strong evidence that bullying victimization is causative of mental illness highlights the need for schools to implement effective interventions to address bullying behaviours.

Danish cohort of monozygotic inflammatory bowel disease twins: Clinical characteristics and inflammatory activity

AIM: To describe the establishment of a Danish inflammatory bowel diseases (IBD) twin cohort with focus on concordance of treatment and inflammatory ***: We identified MZ twins, likely to be discordant or concordant for IBD, by merging information from the Danish Twin Register and the National Patient Register. The twins were asked to provide biological samples, questionnaires, and data access to patient files and public registries. Biological samples were collected via a mobile laboratory, which allowed for immediate centrifugation, fractionation, and storage of samples. The mean time from collection of samples to storage in the -80 °C mobile freezer was less than one hour. The diagnoses where validated using the Copenhagen diagnostic ***: We identified 159 MZ IBD twin pairs, in a total of 62 (39%) pairs both twins agreed to participate. Of the supposed 62 IBD pairs, the IBD diagnosis could be confirmed in 54 pairs. The cohort included 10 concordant pairs, whereof some were discordant for either treatment or surgery. The 10 concordant pairs, where both pairs suffered from IBD, included eight CD/CD pairs, one UC/UC pair and one UC/IBDU pair. The discordant pairs comprised 31 UC, 5 IBDU (IBD unclassified), and 8 CD discordant pairs. In the co-twins not affected by IBD, calprotectin was above 100 μg/g in 2 participants, and above 50 μg/g in a further 5 ***: The presented IBD twin cohorts are an excellent resource for bioinformatics studies with proper adjustment for disease-associated exposures including medication and inflammatory activity in the co-twins.

Clinical Outcomes of Transfer Vitrified-Thawed Day 4,8-Cell Embryos into Endometrium Prepared for Day 3 Embryos

Objective:To determine the clinical outcomes of transfer of day 3,8-cell embryos into endometrium prepared for day 3 ***:This study performed a retrospective analysis of 1,190 retarded *** embryos underwent extended culture in vitro to select and vitrify day 4,8-cell embryos,followed by 176 frozen embryo transfer cycles(study group),matching 660 transfer cycles with single frozen day 3,8-cell embryos as the control(control group).Results:The study group achieved successful implantation rates,clinical pregnancy rate,and live-birth rates(20.45%,15.91%,14.20%,respectively),although these were lower than that in the control group(30.45%,27.42%,and 20.91%;P=0.009,0.002,and 0.046,respectively).The miscarriage rate was similar to that in the control group(4.55%vs.3.33%,P>0.05),and the mean birth weight of the study group was higher than that in the control group(3,556±381 g vs.3,311±570 g,P=0.012).Conclusions:Transfer of frozen day 4,8-cell embryos into endometrial prepared for day 3 embryos can be a new and safe alternative for patients with delayed embryos.

Nigeria’s ‘Great leap’ Past south Africa

IN a long overdue exercise, the National Bureau of statistics of Nigeria recalculated the country＇s GDE dethroning south Africa as Africa＇s largest economy earlier this year. While the rebasing of economic output is a standard procedure usually done quite regularly by countries, Nigeria has not recalculated its GDP in more than 20 years. With a population of at least three times the size of the incumbent number one economy in Africa Nigeria＇s claim of the economic pole position in Africa did not come as a surprise. Its rise to the top was inevitable and arguably the only surprise may have been that it took the West African giant of 170 million people so long to do so.

sOUTH Africa＇s acute incidence of HIV/AI Ds is well-known globally. According to the United Nations, about 6.1 million south Africans were living with HIV/ AIDs in 2012. This means that one in every six south Africans is infected and of these, 17.9 percent of indi- viduals between the ages of 15 and 49 - considered to be the most economically productive age group - are infected with HIV/AIDs. According to the World Bank, this high infection rate among the economically active population could, in the most undesirable of scenarios, result in south Africa＇s per-capita income halving by 2100. While still a few decades away, the projected adverse impact of HIV/AIDs on the south African economy has seen government embarking on the largest anti-retroviral treatment （ART） access cam- paign in the world.

While sino- African relations are often touted as ＂win-win＂ by Chinese and African leaders, trade relations have been criticized for being unbalanced as Africa＇s natural resources are traded for Chinese-manufactured consumer goods. This relatively unequal trade structure has led many to suggest that China＇s manufactured exports are cutting into opportunities for African industrialization.
