An integrally coupled wave-tide-surge model was developed and then applied to the simulation of the wave-typhoon surge for the typhoon Isewan （typhoon Vera （5915））, which is the strongest typhoon that has struck Japan and caused incalculable damage. An integrally coupled tide-surge-wave model using identical and homogeneous meshes in an unstructured grid system was used to correctly resolve the physics of wave-circulation interaction in both models. All model components were validated independently. The storm surge and wave properties such as the surge height, the significant wave height, wave period and direction were reproduced reasonably under the meteorological forcing, which was reprocessed to be close to the observations. The resulting modeling system can be used extensively for the prediction of the storm surge and waves and the usual barotropic forecast.

Although the prediction of propeller cavitation-induced pressure fluctuation strongly depends on the model-scalemeasure- ment in a cavitation tunnel, there is still a lack of correlation with full-scale data. This paper deals with the enhancement of such a correlation deficiency by improving the conventional model-test technique, two majors of which are in the following. One is to take into account the boundary layer effect of wooden fairing plate at the ceiling of water cavitation tunnel. The other is to avoid the reso- nance frequency range of model-ship via adjusting the revolution speed of model propeller. Through a case study, for which both model and full-scale test data are available, the improved method in this study shows its validness, and furthermore a close correla- tion with full scale measurement.

The ultimate transparent electronic devices require complementary and symmetrical pairs of n-type and p-type transparent *** several n-type transparent oxide semiconductors like InGaZnO and ZnO are available and being used in consumer electronics,there are practically no p-type oxides that are comparable to the n-type counterpart in spite of tremendous efforts to discover ***,high-throughput screening with the density functional theory calculations attempted to identify candidate p-type transparent oxides,but none of suggested materials was verified experimentally,implying need for a better theoretical ***,we propose a highly reliable and computationally efficient descriptor for p-type dopability—the hydrogen impurity *** show that the hydrogen descriptor can distinguish well-known p-type and n-type *** the hydrogen descriptor,we screen most binary oxides and a selected pool of ternary compounds that covers Sn^(2+)-bearing and Cu^(1+)-bearing oxides as well as *** a result,we suggest La_(2)O_(2)Te and CuLiO as promising p-type oxides.

A new method for automatic salient object segmentation is *** object segmentation is an important research area in the field of object recognition,image retrieval,image editing,scene reconstruction,and 2D/3D *** this work,salient object segmentation is performed using saliency map and color ***,color and intensity feature are extracted from mean shift segmentation(MSS)image,and saliency map is created using these *** average saliency per segment image is calculated using the color information from MSS image and generated saliency ***,second average saliency per segment image is calculated by applying same procedure for the first image to the thresholding,labeling,and hole-filling applied ***,labeling and hole-filling are applied to the mean image of the generated two images to get the final salient object *** effectiveness of proposed method is proved by showing 80%,89%and 80%of precision,recall and F-measure values from the generated salient object segmentation image and ground truth image.

In this study, we evaluated genetic variants of the androgen metabolism genes CYP17A1, CYP3A4, and CYP3A43 to determine whether they play a role in the development of prostate cancer （PCa） in Korean men. The study population included 240 pathologically diagnosed cases of PCa and 223 age-matched controls. Among the 789 singie-nucleotide polymorphism （SNP） database variants detected, 129 were reported in two Asian groups （han Chinese and Japanese） in the HapMap database. Only 21 polymorphisms of CYP17A1, CYP3A4, and CYP3A43 were selected based on linkage disequilibrium in Asians （d = 1）, locations （SNPs in exons were preferred）, and amino acid changes and were assessed. In addition, we performed haplotype analysis for the 21 SNPs in CYP17A1, CYP3A4, and CYP3A43 genes. To determine the association between genotype and haplotype distributions of patients and controls, logistic analyses were carried out, controlling for age. Twelve sequence variants and five major haplotypes were identified in CYP17A1. Five sequence variants and two major haplotypes were identified in CYP3A4. Four sequence variants and four major haplotypes were observed in CYP3A43. CYP17A1 haplotype-2 （Ht-2）（odds ratio [OR], 1.51; 95% confidence interval [Cl], 1.04-2,18） was associated with PCa susceptibility. CYP3A4 Ht-2 （OR. 1.87; 95% CI. 1.02-3.43） was associated with PCa metastatic potential according to tumor stage, rs17115149 （OR： 1.96; 95% Ch 1.04-3.68） and CYP17A1 Ht-4 （OR： 2.01; 95% Ch 1.07-4.11） showed a significant association with histologic aggressiveness according to Gleason score. Genetic variants of CYP17A1 and CYP3A4 may play a role in the development of PCa in Korean men.

The use of biodegradable polymers and natural additives is a sustainable strategy to prevent oxidation and extend food shelf *** this study,a gelatin-sodium caseinate composite film containing elderberry extract was newly developed and *** film with the most optimal oxygen permeability and water vapor permeability was selected by blending gelatin(G)and sodium caseinate(S)at a 50:50 ratio(w/w).The addition of 0.5%(w/w)elderberry extract(EE)improved the oxygen barrier properties and gave the edible film a high potential for food quality *** was improved(105.82%±9.36%)and DPPH radical scav-enging analysis revealed a significantly strong antioxidant activity(Phanisms,including radical scavenging and oxygen contact ***,protein-based films containing natural extract have the potential for an antioxidant packaging strategy.

BACKGROUND Calcific tendinopathy denotes calcific deposits in a specific *** is also known as calcifying tendinitis,calcifying periarticulitis,or periarticular apatite deposition ***,extracorporeal shock wave therapy(ESWT)has been reported to be effective in relieving and treating pain in calcific *** SUMMARY A 36-year-old female patient suffered from left hip joint pain for six *** pain was increased during abduction of the hip,waking,and jumping.B-mode ultrasonography was performed by a physiatrist with an L12-5 linear transducer.A single session of ESWT was given in the marking area under ultrasound guidance at 4 Hz,2500 shots with intensity of stimulation using energy of 0.1 mJ/*** hip pain of the patient slowly decreased within 4 wk after starting the *** six weeks of ESWT,her hip pain was completely ***,the size of calcification showed almost no reduction in simple radiography at the final *** Ultrasonography is a very good modality not only for diagnosing calcified tendinitis by classical appearance,but also for evaluating the effect of ESWT during the follow-up period.
