To the Editor:Acute pancreatitis(AP)is the most common gastrointestinal condition that leads to acute hospitalization.[1]The incidence of AP has increased in recent decades,with a current global incidence of 34/100,000,probably due to a rising trend of obesity and gallstone *** is associated with remarkable pain,reduced quality of life(QoL),and even death,thus posing a heavy socioeconomic *** addition,approximately 22%of AP patients experience recurrent AP(RAP)and 10%of AP patients progress to chronic pancreatitis.[2]Petrov and Yadav[3]have,therefore,argued that AP should not be considered as an acute and self-limiting *** and long-term care after AP have drawn widespread attention,which has improved patients’physical and mental health.

Potential role of tanycyte-derived neurogenesis in Alzheimer's disease

Tanycytes, specialized ependymal cells located in the hypothalamus, play a crucial role in the generation of new neurons that contribute to the neural circuits responsible for regulating the systemic energy balance. The precise coordination of the gene networks controlling neurogenesis in naive and mature tanycytes is essential for maintaining homeostasis in adulthood. However, our understanding of the molecular mechanisms and signaling pathways that govern the proliferation and differentiation of tanycytes into neurons remains limited. This article aims to review the recent advancements in research into the mechanisms and functions of tanycyte-derived neurogenesis. Studies employing lineage-tracing techniques have revealed that the neurogenesis specifically originating from tanycytes in the hypothalamus has a compensatory role in neuronal loss and helps maintain energy homeostasis during metabolic diseases. Intriguingly,metabolic disorders are considered early biomarkers of Alzheimer's disease. Furthermore,the neurogenic potential of tanycytes and the state of newborn neurons derived from tanycytes heavily depend on the maintenance of mild microenvironments, which may be disrupted in Alzheimer's disease due to the impaired blood–brain barrier ***, the specific alterations and regulatory mechanisms governing tanycyte-derived neurogenesis in Alzheimer's disease remain unclear. Accumulating evidence suggests that tanycyte-derived neurogenesis might be impaired in Alzheimer's disease, exacerbating neurodegeneration. Confirming this hypothesis, however, poses a challenge because of the lack of long-term tracing and nucleus-specific analyses of newborn neurons in the hypothalamus of patients with Alzheimer's disease. Further research into the molecular mechanisms underlying tanycyte-derived neurogenesis holds promise for identifying small molecules capable of restoring tanycyte proliferation in neurodegenerative diseases. Chiral multiple-resonance thermally activated delayed fluorescence materials based on chiral spiro-axis skeleton for efficient circularly polarized electroluminescence

Chiral luminescence materials have potential applications in the field of three-dimensional displays due to their circularly polarized luminescence(CPL)***,the further development of circularly polarized organic light-emitting diodes(CP-OLEDs)needs to meet the requirements of high efficiency,high color purity,low cost,and high dissymmetry factor(gPLor gEL),chiral multiple resonance thermally activated delayed fluorescence(MR-TADF)materials are considered as candidates in these ***,based on a pair of chiral spirofluorene precursors,two pairs of high-performance chiral MR-TADF emitters((R/S)-p-Spiro-DtBuCzB and(R/S)-m-Spiro-DtBuCzB)are developed,which exhibit strong emissions peaking at 491 and 502 nm in toluene with full-width at half-maximum values of 25 and 33 nm,*** addition,small singlet–triplet energy gaps of 0.15 and 0.10 eV with high absolute photoluminescence efficiencies of 95.0%and 96.7%are observed for p-Spiro-DtBuCzB and m-Spiro-DtBuCzB molecules,*** based on p-Spiro-DtBuCzB and m-Spiro-DtBuCzB display high maximum external quantum efficiencies of 29.6%and 33.8%,*** importantly,CP-OLEDs present symmetric circularly polarized electroluminescence spectra with|gEL|factors of 3.36×10^(-4)and 7.66×10^(-4)for devices based on(R/S)-p-Spiro-DtBuCzB and(R/S)-m-Spiro-DtBuCzB enantiomers,respectively.

Inferring the Effects of Protein Variants on Protein-Protein Interactions with Interpretable Transformer Representations

Ocular surface changes in moderate-to-severe acne vulgaris

AIM:To investigate ocular surface disorders and tear function changes in patients with acne vulgaris and explore the potential relationship between acne vulgaris and dry ***:This cross-sectional study included right eyes of 53 patients with acne vulgaris and 54 healthy *** participants completed the Ocular Surface Disease Index(OSDI)*** following ocular surface-related parameters were measured:tear meniscus height(TMH),noninvasive tear breakup time(NIBUT),Schirmer I test(SIT),lipid layer thickness(LLT)score of the tear film,meibum score,meibomian gland orifice obstruction score,the ratio of meibomian gland loss,conjunctival hyperemia score,and corneal fluorescein staining(CFS)***:The stability of the tear film decreased in acne vulgaris *** the acne group,the TMH and NIBUT were lower,whereas the OSDI,meibum score,meibomian gland orifice obstruction score,ratio of meibomian gland loss,and conjunctival hyperemia score were higher compared with controls(P0.05).In two dry eye groups,the TMH,NIBUT,and LLT score were lower in the acne with dry eye(acne-DE)group,and the meibum score,meibomian gland orifice obstruction score,ratio of meibomian gland loss and conjunctival hyperemia score in the acne-DE group were higher(P0.05).CONCLUSION:Patients with moderate-to-severe acne vulgaris are more likely to experience dry eye than those without acne *** tear film stability and meibomian gland structure dysfunction are more pronounced in patients with moderate-to-severe acne and dry eye.

Flexible pressure sensors with ultrahigh stress tolerance enabled by periodic microslits

Stress tolerance plays a vital role in ensuring the effectiveness of piezoresistive sensing films used in flexible pressure ***,existing methods for enhancing stress tolerance employ dome-shaped,wrinkle-shaped,and pyramidal-shaped microstructures in intricate molding and demolding processes,which introduce significant fabrication challenges and limit the sensing *** address these shortcomings,this paper presents periodic microslits in a sensing film made of multiwalled carbon nanotubes and polydimethylsiloxane to realize ultrahigh stress tolerance with a theoretical maximum of 2.477 MPa and a sensitivity of 18.092 kPa−*** periodic microslits permit extensive deformation under high pressure(e.g.,400 kPa)to widen the detection ***,the periodic microslits also enhance the sensitivity based on simultaneously exhibiting multiple synapses within the sensing interface and between the periodic sensing *** proposed solution is verified by experiments using sensors based on the microslit strategy for wind direction detection,robot movement sensing,and human health *** these experiments,vehicle load detection is achieved for ultrahigh pressure sensing under an ultrahigh pressure of over 400 kPa and a ratio of the contact area to the total area of 32.74%.The results indicate that the proposed microslit strategy can achieve ultrahigh stress tolerance while simplifying the fabrication complexity of preparing microstructure sensing films.

4D-MAP:Multipath Adaptive Packet Scheduling for Live Streaming over QUIC

In recent years,live streaming has become a popular application,which uses TCP as its primary transport *** UDP Internet Connections(QUIC)protocol opens up new opportunities for live ***,how to leverage QUIC to transmit live videos has not been studied *** paper first investigates the achievable quality of experience(QoE)of streaming live videos over TCP,QUIC,and their multipath extensions Multipath TCP(MPTCP)and Multipath QUIC(MPQUIC).We observe that MPQUIC achieves the best performance with bandwidth aggregation and transmission ***,network fluctuations may cause heterogeneous paths,high path loss,and band-width degradation,resulting in significant QoE *** by the above observations,we investigate the multipath packet scheduling problem in live streaming and design 4D-MAP,a multipath adaptive packet scheduling scheme over ***,a linear upper confidence bound(LinUCB)-based online learning algorithm,along with four novel scheduling mechanisms,i.e.,Dispatch,Duplicate,Discard,and Decompensate,is proposed to conquer the above problems.4D-MAP has been evaluated in both controlled emulation and real-world networks to make comparison with the state-of-the-art multipath transmission *** results reveal that 4D-MAP outperforms others in terms of improving the QoE of live streaming.

●AIM:To investigate the long-term changes of corneal densitometry(CD)and its contributing elements after small incision lenticule extraction(SMILE).●METHODS:Totally 31 eyes of 31 patients with mean spherical equivalent of-6.46±1.50 D and mean age 28.23±7.38y were ***-scale examinations were conducted on all patients preoperatively and during *** acuity,manifest refraction,axial length,corneal thickness,corneal higher-order aberrations,and CD were evaluated.●RESULTS:All surgeries were completed successfully without complications or adverse ***-year safety index was 1.17±0.20 and efficacy 1.04±*** value of 0–6 mm zones in central layer was statistically significantly lower 10y postoperatively,compared with preoperative values(0–2 mmΔ=-1.62,2–6 mmΔ=-1.24,Phanism is to be further discussed.
