Effective separation of coal gasification fine slag: Role of classification and ultrasonication in enhancing flotation

Effective separation of residual carbon and ash is the basis for the resource utilization of coal gasification fine slag(CGFS).The conventional flotation process of CGFS has the bottlenecks of low carbon recovery and high collector *** order to address these issues,CGFS sample taken from Shaanxi,China was used as the study object in this paper.A new process of size classification-fine grain ultrasonic pretreatment flotation(SC-FGUF)was proposed and its separation effect was compared with that of wholegrain flotation(WGF)as well as size classification-fine grain flotation(SC-FGF).The mechanism of its enhanced separation effect was revealed through flotation kinetic fitting,flotation flow foam layer stability,particle size composition,surface morphology,pore structure,and surface chemical property *** results showed that compared with WGF,pre-classification could reduce the collector dosage by 84.09%and the combination of pre-classification and ultrasonic pretreatment could increase the combustible recovery by 17.29%and up to 93.46%.The SC-FGUF process allows the ineffective adsorption of coarse residual carbon to collector during flotation stage to be reduced by pre-classification,and the tightly embedded state of fine CGFS particles is disrupted and surface oxidizing functional group occupancy was reduced by ultrasonic pretreatment,thus carbon and ash is easier to be separated in the flotation *** addition,some of the residual carbon particles were broken down to smaller sizes in the ultrasonic pretreatment,which led to an increase in the stability of flotation flow foam layer and a decrease in the probability of detachment of residual carbon particles from the ***,SCFGUF could increase the residual carbon recovery and reduce the flotation collector dosage,which is an innovative method for carbon-ash separation of CGFS with good application prospect.

Study on the interannual variability of the Kerama Gap transport and its relation to the Kuroshio/Ryukyu Current system

An analysis of a 68-year monthly hindcast output from an eddy-resolving ocean general circulation model reveals the relationship between the interannual variability of the Kerama Gap transport(KGT)and the Kuroshio/Ryukyu Current *** study found a significant difference in the interannual variability of the upstream and downstream transports of the East China Sea-(ECS-)Kuroshio and the Ryukyu *** interannual variability of the KGT was found to be of paramount importance in causing the differences between the upstream and downstream ***,it contributed approximately 37%to the variability of the Ryukyu *** interannual variability of the KGT was well described by a two-layer rotating hydraulic *** was dominated by its subsurface-intensified flow core,and the upper layer transport made a weaker negative contribution to the total *** subsurface flow core was found to be mainly driven by the subsurface pressure head across the Kerama Gap,and the pressure head was further dominated by the subsurface density anomalies on the Pacific *** density anomalies could be traced back to the eastern open ocean,and their propagation speed was estimated to be about 7.4 km/d,which is consistent with the speed of the local first-order baroclinic Rossby *** the negative(positive)density anomaly signal reached the southern region of the Kerama Gap,it triggered the increase(decrease)of the KGT towards the Pacific side and the formation of an anticyclonic(cyclonic)vortex by baroclinic ***,there is an increase(decrease)in the upstream transport of the entire Kuroshio/Ryukyu Current system and an offshore flow that decreases(increases)the downstream Ryukyu Current.

Evapotranspiration(ET)is a crucial variable in the terrestrial water,carbon,and energy *** present,a large number of multi source ET products *** to sparse observations,however,great challenges exist in the evaluation and integration of ET products in remote and complex areas such as the Tibetan Plateau(TP).In this paper,the applicability of the multiple collocation(MC)method over the TP is evaluated for the first time,and the uncertainty of multisource ET products(based on reanalysis,remote sensing,and land surface models)is further analyzed,which provides a theoretical basis for ET data *** results show that 1)ET uncertainties quantified via the MC method are lower in RS-based ET products(5.95 vs.7.06 mm month^(-1))than in LSM ET products(10.22 vs.17.97 mm month^(-1))and reanalysis ET estimates(7.27 vs.12.26 mm month-1).2)A multisource evapotranspiration(MET)dataset is generated at a monthly temporal scale with a spatial resolution of 0.25°across the TP during *** has better performance than any individual product.3)Based on the fusion product,the total ET amount over the TP and its patterns of spatiotemporal variability are clearly *** annual total ET over the entire TP is approximately 380.60 ***,an increasing trend of 1.59±0.85 mm yr^(-1)over the TP is shown during *** study provides a basis for future studies on water and energy cycles and water resource management over the TP and surrounding regions.

Facet effects on bimetallic ZnSn hydroxide microcrystals for selective electrochemical CO2 reduction

Employing crystal facets to regulate the catalytic properties in electrocatalytic carbon dioxide reduction reaction（eCO2RR） has been well demonstrated on electrocatalysts containing single metals but rarely explored for bimetallic systems. Here, we synthesize Zn Sn（OH）6（ZSO）microcrystals（MCs） with distinct facets and investigate the facet effects in eCO2RR. Electrochemical studies and in situ Fourier Transform Infrared Spectroscopy（in situ-FTIR） reveal that ZSO MCs produce mainly C1 products of HCOOH and CO. The {111} facet of the ZSO MCS exhibits higher selectivity and faradaic efficiency（FE） than that of the {100} facet over a wide range of potentials（-0.9 V ～-1.3 V versus RHE）. Density Functional Theory（DFT） calculations elucidate that the {111} facet is favorable to the adsorption/activation of CO2molecules,the formation of intermediate in the rate-determining step, and the desorption of C1 products of CO and HCOOH molecules.

Unraveling the incompatibility mechanism of ethylene carbonate-based electrolytes in sodium metal anodes

Ethylene carbonate(EC)is widely used in lithium-ion batteries due to its optimal overall performance with satisfactory conductivity,relatively stable solid electrolyte interphase(SEI),and wide electrochemical *** is also the most widely used electrolyte solvent in sodium ion ***,compared to lithium metal,sodium metal(Na)shows higher activity and reacts violently with EC-based electrolyte(NaPF_(6)as solute),which leads to the failure of sodium metal batteries(SMBs).Herein,we reveal the electrochemical instability mechanism of EC on sodium metal battery,and find that the com-bination of EC and NaPF_(6) is electrically reduced in sodium metal anode during charging,resulting in the reduction of the first coulombic efficiency,and the continuous consumption of electrolyte leads to the cell *** address the above issues,an additive modified linear carbonate-based electrolyte is provided as a substitute for EC based ***,ethyl methyl carbonate(EMC)and dimethyl carbon-ate(DMC)as solvents and fluoroethylene carbonate(FEC)as SEI-forming additive have been identified as the optimal solvent for NaFP_(6)based electrolyte and used in Na_(4)Fe_(3)(PO_(4))_(2)(P_(2)O_(7))/Na *** batter-ies exhibit excellent capacity retention rate of about 80%over 1000 cycles at a cut-off voltage of 4.3 V.

Fewer is more:efficient object detection in large aerial images

Current mainstream object detection methods for large aerial images usually divide large images into patches and then exhaustively detect the objects of interest on all patches,no matter whether there exist objects or *** paradigm,although effective,is inefficient because the detectors have to go through all patches,severely hindering the inference *** paper presents an objectness activation network(OAN) to help detectors focus on fewer patches but achieve more efficient inference and more accurate results,enabling a simple and effective solution to object detection in large *** brief,OAN is a light fully-convolutional network for judging whether each patch contains objects or not,which can be easily integrated into many object detectors and jointly trained with them *** extensively evaluate our OAN with five advanced *** OAN,all five detectors acquire more than 30.0% speed-up on three large-scale aerial image datasets,meanwhile with consistent accuracy *** extremely large Gaofen-2 images(29200 × 27620 pixels),our OAN improves the detection speed by 70.5%.Moreover,we extend our OAN to driving-scene object detection and 4K video object detection,boosting the detection speed by 112.1% and 75.0%,respectively,without sacrificing the accuracy.

Soil acidifications become one of the main causes restricting the sustainable development of agriculture and causing issues of agricultural product *** order to explore the effect of different acidification on soil cadmium(Cd)availability,soil pot culture and hydroponic(soil potting solution extraction)were applied,and non-invasive micro-test technique(NMT)was *** three different soil acidification processes were simulated,including direct acidification by adding sulfuric acid(AP1),acid rain acidification(AP2)by adding artificial simulated acid rain and excessive fertilization acidification by adding(NH_(4))_(2)SO_(4)(AP3).The results showed that for direct acidification(AP1),DTPA-Cd concentration in field soils in Liaoning(S1)and Zhejiang(S2)increased by 0.167-0.217 mg/kg and 0.181-0.346 mg/kg,respectively,compared with control *** soil pH decreased by 0.45 units in S1,the Cd content of rice stems,leaves and roots increased by 0.48 to 6.04 mg/kg and 2.58 to 12.84mg/kg,respectively,When the pH value of soil S1 and S2 decreased by 0.20 units,the average velocity of Cd^(2+)at 200μm increased by 10.03-33.11 pmol/cm~2/sec and 21.33-52.86pmol/cm^(2)/sec,respectively,and followed the order of AP3>AP2>*** summary,different acidification measures would improve the effectiveness of Cd,under the same pH reduction condition,fertilization acidification increased Cd availability most significantly.
