AIM:To analyze the outcome of patients who received concurrent capecitabine(Xeloda) and radiation(XRT) compared to the established concurrent 5-fluorouracil(5-FU) with radiation(5FU-RT) and fluoropyrimidine-based chemotherapy alone as adjuvant treatment in gastric ***:All patients with gastric cancers who received adjuvant treatment at the National Cancer Centre Singapore between 1996 and 2006 were *** outcomes of patients who received XRT were compared with those who had 5FU-RT or chemotherapy alone as adjuvant therapy for gastric ***:A total of 108 patients were *** age at diagnosis was *** majority of the patients(64.8%) had advanced stage Ⅲ and Ⅳ disease(with no distant metastasis).All except 4 patients had D2 *** one patients(19.4%) had positive surgical resection *** three patients received XRT compared with 52 who had 5FU-RT and 23 who received chemotherapy *** the patients in the chemotherapy-only group,all had fluoropyrimidine-based therapy,with added cisplatin in 7 patients and epirubicin in 2 *** recurrence-free survival was longer for the XRT group(52 mo) compared to the 5FU-RT(35 mo) and chemotherapy-only groups(25 mo)(P=0.48).The patients in the XRT group achieved similar median overall survival(53 mo) as the 5FU-RT(54 mo) and the chemotherapy-only groups(44 mo)(P=0.5).CONCLUSION:Capecitabine with concurrent radiation was as effective as concurrent 5FU with radiation or fluoropyrimidine-based chemotherapy alone when used as adjuvant treatment in patients with gastric cancers.

Intra-tumor heterogeneity(ITH) is a key challenge in cancer treatment, but previous studies have focused mainly on the genomic alterations without exploring phenotypic(transcriptomic and immune)heterogeneity. Using one of the largest prospective surgical cohorts for hepatocellular carcinoma(HCC)with multi-region sampling, we sequenced whole genomes and paired transcriptomes from 67 HCC patients(331 samples). We found that while genomic ITH was rather constant across stages, phenotypic ITH had a very different trajectory and quickly diversified in stage Ⅱ patients. Most strikingly, 30% of patients were found to contain more than one transcriptomic subtype within a single tumor. Such phenotypic ITH was found to be much more informative in predicting patient survival than genomic ITH and explains the poor efficacy of single-target systemic therapies in HCC. Taken together, we not only revealed an unprecedentedly dynamic landscape of phenotypic heterogeneity in HCC, but also highlighted the importance of studying phenotypic evolution across cancer types.

The photocatalytic degradation of methylene blue（MB） over Fe-doped CaTiO3 under UV-visible light was investigated. The as-prepared samples were characterized using X-ray diffraction（XRD）, scanning electron microscope（SEM） equipped with an energy dispersive spectrometer（EDS） system, Fourier transform infrared spectra（FT-IR）, and UV-visible diffuse reflectance spectroscopy（DRS）. The results show that the doping with Fe significantly promoted the light absorption ability of CaTiO3 in the visible light region. The Fe-doped CaTiO3 exhibited higher photocatalytic activity than CaTiO3 for the degradation of ***, the photocatalytic activity of the Fe-doped CaTiO3 was greatly influenced by the calcination temperature during the preparation process. The Fe-doped CaTiO3 prepared at500°C exhibited the best photocatalytic activity, with degradation of almost 100% MB（10 ppm）under UV-visible light for 180 min.

This paper presents a systematic model test program to assess the uncertainty of the ship-bank interaction forces,using the planar motion mechanism(PMM)system in a circulating water channel(CWC).Therefore,the uncertainties due to ship-bank distance and water depth are considered,and they are calculated via the partial differentials of the regression formulae based on the test *** general part of the uncertainty analysis(UA)is performed according to the ITTC recommended procedure 7.5-02-06.04,while the uncertainty of speed is identified as the bias limit due to the flow velocity maldistribution in the *** each example test for the UA of ship-bank interaction forces,12 repeated measurements were *** from the UA show that the contribution of water depth error and flow velocity maldistribution to the total uncertainty is noticeable,and the paper explains how they increase with the change of the test *** present study will be useful in understanding the uncertainty regarding the ship-bank interaction force measurement in a CWC.

Amorphous manganese oxides (MnO_(x)) were synthesized by facile hydrothermal reactions between potassium permanganate and manganese *** parameters,including hydrothermal time and temperature and molar ratio of precursors,significantly affected the ozone removal performance and structure property of MnO_(x).Amorphous MnO_(x)-1.5,which was prepared at the Mn^(2+)/Mn^(7+)molar ratio of 1.5 under hydrothermal conditions of 120℃ and 2 hr,showed the highest ozone removal rate of 93% after 480 min at the room temperature,RH (relative humidity)=80%and WHSV (weight hourly space velocity)=600 L/(g·hr).The morphology,composition and structure of catalysts were investigated with X-ray diffractometer (XRD),Raman spectra,N_(2) physisorption,field emission scanning electron microscope (FESEM),X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS),H2temperature-programmed reduction (H_(2)-TPR),O_(2) temperature-programmed desorption (O_(2)-TPD) and in situ diffuse reflectance infrared Fourier transform spectroscopy (in situ DRIFTS).It was confirmed that high catalytic activity of amorphous MnOxfor ozone removal was mainly ascribed to its abundant oxygen vacancies,high oxygen mobility and large specific surface area.

Gestures are one of the most natural and intuitive approach for human-computer *** with traditional camera-based or wearable sensors-based solutions,gesture recognition using the millimeter wave radar has attracted growing attention for its characteristics of contact-free,privacy-preserving and less *** there have been many recent studies on hand gesture recognition,the existing hand gesture recognition methods still have recognition accuracy and generalization ability shortcomings in shortrange *** this paper,we present a hand gesture recognition method named multiscale feature fusion(MSFF)to accurately identify micro hand *** MSFF,not only the overall action recognition of the palm but also the subtle movements of the fingers are taken into ***,we adopt hand gesture multiangle Doppler-time and gesture trajectory range-angle map multi-feature fusion to comprehensively extract hand gesture features and fuse high-level deep neural networks to make it pay more attention to subtle finger *** evaluate the proposed method using data collected from 10 users and our proposed solution achieves an average recognition accuracy of 99.7%.Extensive experiments on a public mmWave gesture dataset demonstrate the superior effectiveness of the proposed system.

Given a system of vector fields on a smooth manifold that spans a plane field of constant rank, we present a systematic method and an algorithm to find submanifolds that are invariant under the flows of the vector fields. We present examples of partition into invariant submanifolds, which further gives partition into orbits. We use the method of generalized Frobenius theorem by means of exterior differential systems.

Removal kinetics of phosphorus through use of basic oxygen furnace slag（BOF-slag）was investigated through batch experiments. Effects of several parameters such as initial phosphorus concentration, temperature, BOF-slag size, initial p H, and BOF-slag dosage on phosphorus removal kinetics were measured in detail. It was demonstrated that the removal process of phosphorus through BOF-slag followed pseudo-first-order reaction kinetics. The apparent rate constant（kobs） significantly decreased with increasing initial phosphorus concentration, BOF-slag size, and initial p H, whereas it exhibited an opposite trend with increasing reaction temperature and BOF-slag dosage.A linear dependence of kobson total removed phosphorus（TRP） was established with kobs=（3.51 ± 0.11） × 10^-4× TRP. Finally, it was suggested that the Langmuir–Rideal（L–R）or Langmuir–Hinshelwood（L–H） mechanism may be used to describe the removal process of phosphorus using BOF-slag.
