Non-optical polyp-based resect and discard strategy:A prospective clinical study

BACKGROUND Post-polypectomy surveillance intervals are currently determined based on pathology *** To evaluate a polyp-based resect and discard model that assigns surveillance intervals based solely on polyp number and *** Patients undergoing elective colonoscopies at the Montreal University Medical Center were enrolled *** polyp-based strategy was used to assign the next surveillance interval using polyp size and *** intervals were also assigned using optical diagnosis for small polyps(<10 mm).The primary outcome was surveillance interval agreement between the polyp-based model,optical diagnosis,and the pathology-based reference standard using the 2020 United States Multi-Society Task Force *** outcomes included the proportion of reduction in required histopathology evaluations and proportion of immediate post-colonoscopy recommendations provided to *** Of 944 patients(mean age 62.6 years,49.3%male,933 polyps)were *** surveillance interval agreement for the polyp-based strategy was 98.0%[95%confidence interval(CI):0.97-0.99]compared with pathology-based *** diagnosis-based intervals achieved 95.8%(95%CI:0.94-0.97)agreement with *** using the polyp-based strategy and optical diagnosis,the need for pathology assessment was reduced by 87.8%and 70.6%,*** polyp-based strategy provided 93.7%of patients with immediate surveillance interval recommendations vs 76.1%for optical *** The polyp-based strategy achieved almost perfect surveillance interval agreement compared with pathology-based assignments,significantly reduced the number of required pathology evaluations,and provided most patients with immediate surveillance interval recommendations.

Biological processes involving large macromolecular assemblies are thought to be a dynamic consequence of cooperativity and metastability. The folding of a peptide chain creates local environments from which “activity” can emerge. In the same way, the assembly of large molecular complexes creates dynamic features that would only be feasible in a large construct. The biological implications of such adaptation are explored as it applies to the static quasisymmetry situations, as well as to the dynamics of structural transitions. The current wealth of solved high-resolution complex structures makes this an appropriate time to summarize the state of the art in structural dynamics of living architectures. Being born with nonoptimal birth characteristics decreases the chance of becoming a father. Urogenital malformations as well as metabolic syndrome are more common in men born small for gestational age （SGA） and could be contributing factors to the reduced fertility rate seen in these men. It could imply that men becoming fathers by assisted reproductive technology （ART） more often are born with low birth weight （LBW）, preterm, and/or SGA than men conceiving without treatment and also that men where intracytoplasmic sperm injection （ICSI） had to be performed more often are born with nonoptimal birth characteristics than men where conventional in vitro fertilization （IVF） successfully could be used. In this retrospective, case-control study using Swedish national registers, we compared the birth characteristics of 1206 men who have become fathers by ART with a control group consisting of age-matched men who became fathers without treatment. The differences in birth characteristics between men becoming fathers by IVF and ICSI were also assessed. For men becoming fathers by ART, OR of being born with LBW was 1.66 （95% CI = 1.17-2.36） compared with fathers who conceived without treatment. OR of being born prematurely was 1.32 （95% CI = 1.00-1.77）. Men becoming fathers via ICSI had a doubled increased likelihood of being born SGA compared with men who became fathers via IVF （OR = 2.12; 95% CI = 1.17-3.83）. In conclusion, we have found that men becoming fathers by ICSI treatments had more often been born SGA than men becoming fathers by conventional IVF.

Offshore Wind Power for Marine Conservation

The seas of northern Europe are strongly affected by human activities and there is a great need for improved marine conservation. The same region is also the current hotspot for offshore wind power development. Wind farms can have negative environmental impacts during construction, but during the operational phase many organisms are attracted to the foundations and thereby may also find refuge from fisheries. Given the recent implementation of marine spatial planning in Europe and elsewhere, this is a critical time to address potential compatibility and synergies between marine conservation and wind power. This review concludes that offshore wind farms can be at least as effective as existing marine protected areas in terms of creating refuges for benthic habitats, benthos, fish and marine mammals. The degree of advantage for these organisms depends on the location of the wind farm and the level of imposed fishing restriction. Under certain conditions wind farms may even be more efficient means of conservation than ordinary marine protected areas. However, offshore wind farms can be negative for several species of seabirds, essentially as occupying preferred feeding or wintering grounds. In areas important to these seabirds wind farms may not comply with conservation. The results bring important messages to marine spatial planning as some but not all wind farms can be spatially combined with, and even synergistic to, marine conservation.

Melon(*** L.)is an economically important vegetable crop cultivated *** melon collection in the *** Plant Germplasm System(NPGS)is a valuable resource to conserve natural genetic diversity and provide novel traits for melon *** we use the genotyping-by-sequencing(GBS)technology to characterize 2083 melon accessions in the NPGS collected from major melon production areas as well as regions where primitive melons *** structure and genetic diversity analyses suggested that *** *** was firstly introduced from the centers of origin,Indian and Pakistan,to Central and West Asia,and then brought to Europe and *** *** from East Asia was likely derived from *** *** in India and Pakistan and displayed a distinct genetic background compared to the rest of *** accessions from other geographic *** developed a core collection of 383 accessions capturing more than 98%of genetic variation in the germplasm,providing a publicly accessible collection for future research and genomics-assisted breeding of ***-five morphological characters investigated in the core collection indicated high variability of these characters across accessions in the ***-wide association studies using the core collection panel identified potentially associated genome regions related to fruit quality and other horticultural *** study provides insights into melon origin and domestication,and the constructed core collection and identified genome loci potentially associated with important traits provide valuable resources for future melon research and breeding.

初发银屑病的细胞浸润成分与银屑病的发病机制密切相关,本研究应用间接免疫过氧化酶技术对四份初发银屑病损害标本,应用抗T细胞、T细胞亚类、轻键、单核细胞和Ia样抗原的单克隆抗体进行单个核浸润细胞成份的鉴定。结果表明,初发性银屑病损害内主要系Lyt 2+、Lyt 3+、Leu 4+、Leu 3+和Ia+细胞浸润,浸润的角化不全部的表皮及真皮浅层最为明显并向周围递减。另外,Leu 2+细胞在表皮内相对明显增多,这一现象在角化增厚部表皮为明显,这一现象也可能适用于他其上皮的病变。本研究尚证实银屑病初发皮损的角化不全区有特异性免疫球蛋白的沉积,这一变化已证明晚于表皮病变。

埃姆河上Jarnsjon湖的治理工作于1993～1994年进行。对PCB污染的底泥进行了清淤、脱水和填埋处理。为了减少悬浮固体和PCB在河道中的扩散,使用了特制吸力清淤机,以便使悬浮固体扩散降至最低。此外,湖泊污染最严重部分的清淤工作的实施是在泥沙拦网内进行的。贯穿于整个实施过程的一项广泛的环境监测计划表明,清淤过程中悬浮固体和PCB的扩散很有限。PCB监测也表明,泥沙拦网的使用极大地降低了河水暴露于PCB的程度。脱水操作采用了滤压机,剩余的水经絮凝、浮选和沉淀等净化过程又返回到Jarnsjon湖。填埋时覆盖的砂石层厚1.2m。没有建造外部水力学障垒。相反,充分考虑了细质土相对低的渗透性,并使被处理底泥在最顶层为低污染底泥,也考虑了在中试研究中所测定的被下埋的底泥中PCB的低移动性。因而,填埋中所计算的的渗漏量比河流中PCB的剩余迁移量要小。在建造后填埋堆的第一年,监测到的渗漏极少。
