Objective:To compare limiting dilution assay and real-time PCR methods in Leishmania tropica parasite load measurement in vaccinated ***:BALB/c mice were vaccinated by Leishmania tropica soluble Leishmania antigen or recombinant Leishmania tropica stressinducible protein-1 with/without *** three vaccinations,mice were challenged by Leishmania tropica *** months after challenge,the draining lymph nodes of mice footpad were removed and parasite load was assayed by limiting dilution assay and real-time PCR *** dilution assay was done by diluting tissue samples to extinction in a biphasic *** real-time PCR,DNA of the lymph nodes was extracted,equal dilutions of each sample were prepared and hot-start real-time PCR was done using appropriate *** data of the two methods were compared by appropriate statistical ***:Both methods were able to measure different levels of parasite load in vaccinated/unvaccinated *** addition,wherever parasite load of a group was estimated high(or low)by one method,the estimated parasite load by another method was the same,although statistically significant differences were found between some ***:Both methods lead to approximately similar results in terms of differentiating parasite load of the experimental ***,due to the lower errors and faster process,the real-time PCR method is preferred.

Divergence and flutter instability of magneto-thermo-elastic C-BN hetero-nanotubes conveying fluid

On the basis of finite element analysis,an eigenvalue problem is performed to examine the vibrational characteristics of a hetero-nanotube made of carbon(C)and boron nitride(BN)nanotubes in magnetic and thermal *** incorporating the assumption of nonlocal elasticity theory,the size-dependent behavior of the considered structure is also taken into *** obtained results demonstrate that the onset of the divergence and flutter instabilities may be postponed by exploiting a hetero-nanotube rather than a uniform one composed of carbon ***,it is exhibited that,in the presence of fluid flow,the mode shape configuration of nanotubes may be different from those of classical modes and therefore the later one should not be utilized in the dynamic analysis of fluid-conveying ***,it is shown that,as the temperature decreases,the natural frequencies of the system decrease in high temperature conditions and increase for the case of room temperature.

This paper provides the static and dynamic pullin behavior of nano-beams resting on the elastic foundation based on the nonlocal theory which is able to capture the size effects for structures in micron and sub-micron scales. For this purpose, the governing equation of motion and the boundary conditions are driven using a variational approach. This formulation includes the influences of fringing field and intermolecular forces such as Casimir and van der Waals forces. The differential quadrature （DQ） method is employed as a high-order approximation to discretize the governing nonlinear differential equation, yielding more accurate results with a Considerably smaller number of grid points. In addition, a powerful analytical method called parameter expansion method （PEm） is utilized to compute the dynamic solution and frequency-amplitude relationship. It is illustrated that the first two terms in series expansions are sufficient to produce an acceptable solution of the mentioned structure. Finally, the effects of basic parameters on static and dynamic pull-in insta- bility and natural frequency are studied.

In this study,for the first time,we investigate the nonlocality superimposed to the size effects on the nonlinear dynamics of an electrically actuated single-walled carbon-nanotube-based *** undertake two models to capture the nanostructure nonlocal size effects:the strain and the velocity gradient *** use a reduced-order model based on the differential quadrature method(DQm)to discretize the goverming nonlinear equation of motion and acquire a discretized-parameter nonlinear model of the *** structural nonlinear behavior of the system assuming both strain and velocity gradient theories is investigated using the discretized *** results suggest that nonlocal and size effects should not be neglected because they improve the prediction of corresponding dynamic amplitudes and,most importantly,the critical resonant frequencies of such *** these effects may impose a considerable source of error,which can be amended using more accurate modeling techniques.

The work is devoted to the fractional characterization of time-dependent coupled convection-diffusion systems arising in magnetohydrodynamics(mHD)*** time derivative is expressed by means of Caputo’s fractional derivative concept,while the model is solved via the full-spectral method(FSm)and the semi-spectral scheme(SSS).The FSm is based on the operational matrices of derivatives constructed by using higher-order orthogonal polynomials and collocation *** SSS is developed by discretizing the time variable,and the space domain is collocated by using equal points.A detailed comparative analysis is made through graphs for various parameters and tables with existing *** contour graphs are made to show the behaviors of the velocity and magnetic *** proposed methods are reasonably efficient in examining the behavior of convection-diffusion equations arising in mHD flows,and the concept may be extended for variable order models arising in mHD flows.

Axial response and material efficiency of tapered helical piles

Different techniques have been proposed to increase the bearing capacity of open-ended *** helices to the shaft and tapering the pile shaft could be used simultaneously to enhance the static and dynamic behaviors of these *** paper subjects the bearing capacity,stiffness,frictional behavior,and material efficiency of the tapered helical piles to *** helical piles are introduced herein as an alternative option to improve the material efficiency of hollow *** on the Taguchi method,a series of experiments was designed and *** axial responses of tapered helical piles are also investigated using finite element *** results derived from loadedisplacement curves and strain gages are used to characterize the axial compression responses of tapered helical *** effects of tapered angle,helices diameter and helices distance are examined using dimensionless parameters,and the degree of contribution of these factors is calculated on each of the enumerated variables *** results show that the shaft friction resistance of tapered helical piles increases continuously with the pile head ***,the effect of tapered wall on the shaft friction resistance is more tangible at low stress *** results showed that the relative material efficiency factor of the optimum pile could be 2.5 times that of unoptimized pile with a similar quantity of material.

Liquid droplets in solid soft composites have been attracting increasing attention in biological *** contrary with conventional composites,which are made of solid elastic inclusions,available material models for composites including liquid droplets are for highly idealized configurations and do not include all material real *** are also all deterministic and do not address the uncertainties arising from droplet radius,volume fraction,dispersion and *** research revisits the available models for liquid droplets in solid soft composites and presents a multiscale computational material model to determine their elastic moduli,considering nearly all relevant uncertainties and heterogeneities at different length *** effects of surface tension at droplets interface,their volume fraction,size,size polydispersity and agglomeration on elastic modulus,are *** micromechanical material models are incorporated into the presented computational *** results clearly indicate both softening and stiffening effects of liquid droplets and show that the model can precisely predict the effective properties of liquid droplets in solid soft composites.

The current work experimentally explores and then theoretically examines the lateral vibrations of an unbalanced Jeffcott rotor-system working at several unbalance *** this end,three conditions of eccentric masses are considered by using a Bently Nevada RK-4 rotor *** of the steady-state as well as the startup data at rigid and flexible rotor states are captured by conducting a setup that mimics the vibration monitoring industrial *** linear governing equation of the considered rotor is extracted by adopting the Lagrange method on the basis of rigid rotor assumptions to theoretically predict the lateral *** dynamic features of the rotor system such as the linearized bearing induced stiffness are exclusively acquired from startup *** is demonstrated that,with an error of less than 5%,the proposed two-degrees-of-freedom model can predict the flexural vibrations at rigid *** at flexible condition,it fails to accurately predict the dynamic *** contrast to the other works where nonlinear mathematical models with some complexities are proposed to mathematically model the real systems,the present study illustrates the applicability of employing simple models to predict the dynamic response of a real rotor-system with an acceptable accuracy.
