Superior rectus/levator complex in acquired anophthalmic socket repaired with spheric implant—a computed tomography scan and topographic study

AIm:To determine whether the levator palpebrae superioris(LPS)/superior rectus(SR)muscle complex,can influence the position of the upper lid and fornix in acquired anophthalmic ***:This comparative non-randomized and non-interventional study included retrospective data of 21 patients with unilateral acquired anophthalmic sockets repaired with spheric ***-resolution computed tomography(CT)measurements of the LPm/SR muscle complex and clinical topographic position of the upper lid,superior and inferior fornix depth in primary gaze position were *** data were presented as frequency and percentage proportions and quantitative variables comparing the socket measurements with the normal contralateral orbit was statistically analyzed using non-parametric tests considering Pmic orbits had a significantly shorter LPS length(P=0.01)and significantly thicker SR(P=0.02)than the normal *** was present in anophthalmic sockets but not in normal orbits(P=0.002),while levator function was normal in both(P>0.05,all comparisons).The superior fornix depth was similar in the anophthalmic socket and the contralateral normal orbit(P=0.192)as well the inferior fornix depth(P=0.351).CONCLUSION:Acquired anophthalmic sockets repaired with spheric implants have shorter LPS,thicker SR,and more lagophthalmos than normal *** relationship of the LPS and SR with other orbital structures,associated with passive or active forces acting in the final position of the lids and external ocular prosthesis should be further investigated.

Five perovskite ceramics samples of Ba_(1-x)Er_(x)SnO_(3) with x=0.00,0.05,0.10,0.15,and 0.20 were synthesized using the conventional solid-state reaction *** prepared samples were characterized by X-ray diffraction(XRD),Fourier transforms infrared(FTIR),and UV-Vis *** shielding properties against ionizing radiation were also *** XRD analysis shows the perovskite cubic structure as the major phase in all *** FTIR reveals a distinctive band around 614-620 cm^(-1) ascribed to the antisymmetric O-Sn-O ***-Vis spectroscopy was used to determine the bandgap according to diffuse reflectance,and the results display a fixed enhancement in the bandgap from 3.2 to 3.3 eV for all ***-ray shielding properties of the synthesized samples were experimentally measured and compared with XCOm computational *** relative differences(Δ,%)between experimental and theo retical values are low and fall within the 0.446%-7.10%*** addition of Er leads to the enhanced density,neutron,and gamma shielding *** contrast,charged particles’shielding parameters gradually reduce with rising Er *** results suggest that Ba_(1-x)Er_(x)SnO_(3) samples can be used in different radiation shielding applications.

The boundary-layer flow and heat transfer in a viscous fluid containing metallic nanoparticles over a nonlinear stretching sheet are analyzed. The stretching velocity is assumed to vary as a power function of the distance from the origin. The governing partial differential equation and auxiliary conditions are reduced to coupled nonlinear ordinary differential equations with the appropriate corresponding auxiliary conditions. The resulting nonlinear ordinary differential equations （ODEs） are solved numerically. The effects of various relevant parameters, namely, the Eckert number Ec, the solid volume fraction of the nanoparticles ~, and the nonlinear stretching parameter n are discussed. The comparison with published results is also presented. Different types of nanoparticles are studied. It is shown that the behavior of the fluid flow changes with the change of the nanoparticles type.

The electrocaloric(EC)effect accompanied with the ferroelectric to paraelectric phase transition in(111)-oriented Pbmg_(1/3)Nb_(2)/3O_(3)(PmN)is *** is shown that the largest change TDis 0.37 K in 3 kV/cm electric field shift near the Curie temperature of 221 K;that is,the cooling TDper unit field(mV/m)is 1.23×10^(-6) m·K/*** value is significantly larger,and comparable with the value of 0.254×10^(-6) m·K/V for PbZr_(0.95)Ti_(0.05)O_(3)thin film under larger electric field shift ED=30 kV/***,the EC effect of(111)PmN single crystal provides cooling solutions at low temperatures,and opens more opportunities for practical application in cooling systems.

Buckling and postbuckling characteristics of laminated graphene-enhanced composite(GEC)truncated conical shells exposed to torsion under temperature conditions using finite element method(FEm)simulation are presented in this *** the thickness direction,the GEC layers of the conical shell are ordered in a piece-wise arrangement of functionally graded(FG)distribution,with each layer containing a variable volume fraction for graphene *** calculate the properties of temperaturedependent material of GEC layers,the extended Halpin-Tsai micromechanical framework is *** FEm model is verified via comparing the current results obtained with the theoretical estimates for homogeneous,laminated cylindrical,and conical shells,the FEm model is *** computational results show that a piece-wise FG graphene volume fraction distribution can improve the torque of critical buckling and torsional postbuckling ***,the geometric parameters have a critical impact on the stability of the conical ***,a temperature rise can reduce the crucial torsional buckling torque as well as the GEC laminated truncated conical shell’s postbuckling strength.

The effects of temperature on corrosion and the electrochemical behavior of Ni82.3Cr7Fe3Si4.5B3.2 glassy alloy in HC1,H2SO4,and H3PO4 acids were studied using AC and DC *** data reveal that the susceptibility to localized corrosion increases with increasing *** polarization curves reveal that the bulk glassy alloy is spontaneously passivated at all the investigated temperature in H2SO4 and H3PO4 solutions.A localized corrosion effect in HCl solution is clearly *** apparent activation energies in the regions of Tafel,active,and passive,as well as the enthalpies and entropies of the dissolution process were determined and *** high apparent activation energy（Ea） value for H3PO4 solution in Tafel region is explained by the low aggressivity of PO4^3- ions.

Preparation of quantum size of tin oxide: Structural and physical characterization

SnO2NPs were successfully prepared via a hydrothermal method. X-ray diffraction analysis con fi rmed the rutile tetragonal structure of SnO2NPs. The crystallite size increased from 1.18 to 5.06 nm with increasing the preparation temperature from 100 to 180 °C. The SEm photography of the products exhibited the agglomeration of the SnO2nanocrystals to large view particles, while TEm images con fi rmed the polycrystalline phase and crystallite size those analyzed from XRD. The UV–vis absorption of ethanol suspended SnO2NPs was measured. The optical band-gap energies（Eg） were signi fi cantly blue-shifted due to quantum con fi nement. Fluorescence spectra came to con fi rm this shift, where a clear shift in the maximum emission peak was observed. Stokes shift of SnO2nanocrystals was found to be crystallite size dependent.

Photocatalytic parameters and kinetic study for degradation of dichlorophenol-indophenol (DCPIP) dye using highly active mesoporous TiO_2 nanoparticles

Highly active mesoporous TiO_2 of about 6 nm crystal size and 280.7 m^2/g specific surface areas has been successfully synthesized via controlled hydrolysis of titanium butoxide at acidic medium. It was characterized by means of XRD（X-ray diffraction）, SEm（scanning electron microscopy）, TEm（transmission electron microscopy）, FT-IR（Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy）, TGA（thermogravimetric analysis）, DSC（differential scanning calorimetry） and BET（Brunauer–Emmett–Teller） surface area. The degradation of dichlorophenol-indophenol（DCPIP） under ultraviolet（UV） light was studied to evaluate the photocatalytic activity of samples. The effects of different parameters and kinetics were investigated. Accordingly, a complete degradation of DCPIP dye was achieved by applying the optimal operational conditions of 1 g/L of catalyst, 10 mg/L of DCPIP, pH of 3 and the temperature at 25 ± 3°C after 3 min under UV irradiation. meanwhile, the Langmuir–Hinshelwood kinetic model described the variations in pure photocatalytic branch in consistent with a first order power law *** results proved that the prepared TiO_2 nanoparticle has a photocatalytic activity significantly better than Degussa P-25.
